PSU Targets for 2010

I guess I am allowed to repost this since it was written by a poster in the Lions Den and not by a member of Rivals or BWI. This guy has a ton of clout and credibility and as you will see it is very well deserved. My notes are in red. I'm pretty sure ## means they have a written offer already, as far as I can tell.

QB's (1)
##QB- Paul Jones(PA) 6'4" 233 (6.0)- Early Top100 candidate for '10 class possibly. According to what appears to be his mother, PSU will be in it till the end with this talented young man. Said to be coming to at least 3 PSU games this year is the good news. Said to be spending a LOT of time at Pitt is the bad news. He was pretty pleased to hear of a certain QB commitment to Mich as opposed to PSU. May have called PSU to check the status on the spot? Should be receiving a letter here on Sept. 2nd signifying PSU's interest in him. That scholarship offer. ##QB/ATH- Anthony Gonzalez(PA) 6'3" 195 (5.8)- AAAA Player of the Year in Pennsylvania! Impressive, especially as a Junior. Playmaker on both sides of the ball. Plays QB on offense and is decent, but to me he is not a true QB. I like him best personally in the defensive backfield. PSU is reported to have offered the young man and Im sure the will take a good look at this PA talent and see how he compares to the others. He would like to play offense at the next level, but wont make an issue of it. He states he has always liked Penn State growing up. This kid is an excellent talent with a ton of upside. Being looked at currently by PSU as a QB.
QB- Josh Marshall (MD)6'3" 183 (5.5)- Grew up a Pitt fan, yikes. LOL Called his ND visit phenomenal. He lists PSU as an early team of interest. Runs a 4.55 forty reportedly. A comparison if you will. His HS does NOT play sophmores yet he played. Dominic Clarke the O$U CB commit did not even play as a soph. Should tell ya something of the kids talents
QB- Joe Brennan(NJ) 6'4" 195 - Brennan is rated by most recruiting analysts to be the best QB prospect in New Jersey and he attended the U.S. Army All-American Combine in San Antonio this January. As a first year starter last fall, he completed 147 of 255 passes for 2438 yards and 25 touchdowns. He is very athletic, with a 4.65 forty and rushed for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns last season. Bennan is an outstanding student with a 3.45 GPA. He may be receiving a scholarship offer from Penn State shortly after signing day. He is being heavily recruited by a host of schools across the country presently.

QB- Devin Gardner(MI) 6'4" 195 (5.7)- Getting a ton of interest as a legit duel threat QB. Seems to have a bit of PSU interest as well. This kid is definitely real good, no doubt and may be a lot of big name teams' second choice. There is a rumor floating around he may be looking to take a visit to Penn State.
QB- Phillip Sims(VA) 6'2" 215 (6.0)- PSU almost has to offer the kid though they seem to view PJ as the highest priority. May not happen now though with the quick commit of Jones. Sims' numbers for his career include a freshman season of 1,400 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, a sophomore season of 3,100 passing yards and 33 touchdowns, and an ongoing undefeated junior season that has him sitting at 2,273 passing yards and 29 touchdowns. VTech should lead having been recruiting him for years now. Then Georgia and Alabama seem to hold the next 2 spots.
QB- Alex Zordich(OH) 6'3" 195 - Zordich has come a long way in a short period of time. Last year, he was the third-string quarterback on a loaded Mooney team. This year, Zordich is running the show and running it well. He has an above average arm and throws a very catchable ball. For not being very experienced as a starter he is remarkably poised in the pocket. There is not a lot of wasted motion in his delivery. He is very efficient and accurate. Zordich is also deceptively athletic for his size and mobile. He may be the biggest PSU fan in the family, which would be saying something. Lets keep an eye on the possible legacy recruit. “I’ve been to Penn State a lot of times, ever since I was young,” Alex said. “I went to three games this season, when they played Michigan State, Illinois and Indiana. “It’s real neat there. And the family history is a neat thing with my brother playing for the same coach as my dad.” However, Alex said brother Michael is not trying influence him too much. “My brother would love to see me go to Penn State,” Alex said. “But he says I have to keep my eyes open. Everyone says I’m a lock to go to Penn State, but I’m interested in whoever is interested in me.” The list of schools sending mail and showing interest in Alex includes Penn State, Northwestern, Kansas and Cincinnati.
RB's (1-2)
##RB- Silas Redd(CT) 5'10" 187 (5.9)- He 'Wowed' the PSU coaches at summer camp. Redd was an all-county and second-team all-state performer in Connecticut his sophomore year, rushing for close to 1,300 yards and 23 touchdowns. BWI has been told that Redd received a verbal offer from the Lions' coaching staff at the conclusion of the third week of camp. Scouting Report: Redd can play running back, wide receiver or cornerback in college. He is very strong for his size, cuts on a dime and has excellent ball skills. Redd is very coachable and picks things up quickly. He is also a natural leader. His latest film is out. Kid has some burners and is great with the footwork and also making himself 'skinny' in traffic. Nice footwork and balance as well. When asked about Penn State and receiving the offer he was very exited and said, among other things, "I've been a fan since I was about seven. My first Pop Warner coach went to Penn State, and it was kind of like instilled in me," he said. "A lot of the kids up here don't really like Penn State, but they didn't grow up Penn State fans. I've actually been like a Penn State fan, I've rooted for them all my life." Redd's latest highlights! Silas is scheduled to visit on March 27th for a special Jr. day.
"I didn't get my Penn State offer yet, but I'm going down in March and I'm expecting to get it there. If my unofficial goes well, I'm going to commit right there on the spot."
##RB- Braylon Heard(OH) 5'11" 180 (5.8)- Excellent Athlete! CB possibility as well. Must See Highlights Jr. Year Runs the 40-yard dash in between 4.38 and 4.48 seconds, as both have been reported, and was a starter at cornerback for Mooney during his sophomore season. He started at both running back and cornerback as a junior and could play either in college. “It doesn’t matter to me,” Heard said. “I think I could end up playing either position in college.” Heard said Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan State and Florida State are just some of the schools showing interest. He attended games this season at Penn State, Ohio State and Toledo. “I went to the Penn State-Illinois game,” Heard said. “I actually liked that one better than the Ohio State-Michigan game. They had a ‘white-out’ and the crowd was crazy. The field was really nice. That was the first time I’ve been to a game at Penn State.” But it probably won’t be the last. When asked to name his favorite schools, Heard said, “I like USC, but I haven’t heard from them. I like Penn State a lot. I like West Virginia too. Penn State and USC are my two favorites.” From Mooney in OH, the same school as Brandon Beachum and Mike Zordich. I didn't think PSU was in this good of shape with Heard, and I figured we were probably not as connected to Cardinal Mooney as I would have liked, but as you will see if you read this, PSU is a major player for these Mooney kids next year.
##RB- Corey Brown(PA) 5'11" 169 (5.8)- Should receive 4* consideration for sure. Being recruited by all the Big10. 4.47 forty. Teammate of Tom Savage..."I'm not really worried about it too much because I'm only a sophomore," said Brown. "I'm just going to let it go. I talk to Tom about it a lot. He just tells me to be smart about it. He also talks a lot about Rutgers. I like Rutgers a lot." PSU has already had him in for a Junior Day(as a Sophmore) and he has camped at PSU as well. So we are certainly being pro-active with him. Let's hope Tom's influence isnt too great in case the coaches have him at or near the top of our boards. Here are some sophmore highlights of Corey. People think Brown is the top player in PA for next year's class. Listen. This kid is coming off a major knee injury and seems kinda overrated. He is also a better fit at PSU as a WR than RB. A buddy of mine runs a comedy website and basically he'll repost any sports-related stuff I write just to increase his website's potential reader base. He posted a PSU recruiting update that I wrote and emailed to a couple people I know. I have already gotten 3 emails from people I dont know telling me how great Corey Brown is and how PSU is dumb for not chasing him harder. The kid is not a PSU RB and will be moved to WR. With them wanting him at WR, there are much better WR targets on the board. Do not get sucked into the Corey Brown hype. This kid has durability issues. He's a good player. But he's not going to be a RB at Penn State.
RB- Andre Givens(OH) 5'11" 180 (5.7)- Givens, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, is also on the Hubbard track team. He has run the 100-meter dash in 10.9 seconds and the 200 meters in 22.8 seconds. “My top five would be Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Illinois,” Givens said. He is also being recruited by Ohio St, Mich St., Boston College, and Oregon. ScoutingOhio.com Highlights.
RB- Erick Howard(OH) 5'10" 210 (5.9)-Word is that PSU is showing a lot of interest, however, it may be real difficult to pull him away from OSU. The good news is he is stressing academics over football right now.
Highlights
RB- Chris Smallwood(PA) 5'10" 192 (5.6)- From Upper Moreland High School in Willow Grove. Smallwood rushed for 1,119 yards on 177 carries and posted 11 TDs in 2007. Upper Moreland head football coach, Adam Beach, claims that Smallwood, who was an All-Suburban One performer his sophomore year, has 4.42 40-yard speed. Smallwood is being recruited for the Nittany Lions by Penn State assistant coach, Ron Vanderlinden, and it seems that in all likelihood Smallwood will be in attendance at the Penn State -Illinois football game on Sept.27. He was named second-team AP AAA all-state and first-team Southeast Pa. by the Philadelphia Inquirer. He rushed for more than 1,500 yards this past season.
RB- Leveon Bell(OH) 6'1" 215 (5.6) - Kid is getting some big schools showing interest but we will have to wait and see if that will translate into offers. One to watch maybe. Ohio has a few big time backs this year, so we will see where he stands among them. If he runs even close to the reported 4.5 listed, then with a little skill added, he would be a good prospect. He has nice, improving stats from Sophmore to Junior years. He is also an accomplished receiver it seems which is something we like in our backs tradionally. “The schools that are showing the most interest are probably Cincinnati, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and West Virginia,” Bell said. He likes the football, he likes the academics, and he is looking to make a camp.
RB- Brendon Felder(PA) 5'10" 170 (5.7)- Currently playing at Gateway, having transferred from his previous high school in Mass. Considered a BC lean for some time but has PSU and Pitt right up there as well. On Penn State and their gaining ground: "Since I've been up here, Penn State is getting higher and higher. From Gateway you hear about Penn State all the time with Justin King coming out of there and it's a great school, plus I have all my family up here. In Boston, I didn't have that much family."
RB- Spencer Ware(OH) 5'11" 202 (5.9)- To say this kid could be a special athlete is an understatement. He could project in a lot of Offensive positions for sure. QB, RB, and WR. Maybe some D possitions as well. Maybe will be one of the best and most sought after ATH's in the country next season. Have seen him in some Top50 projections and even in the 5* range for the gazers out there. Exploded onto the scene as a sophomore when he dominated the Greater Miami Conference by passing for 2,200 yards, rushing for nearly 1,000 yards and combining for 39 total touchdowns. It was more of the same for him in 2008, he completed 57 percent of his passes for 1,938 yards and 13 touchdowns. Ware also ran the ball for 741 yards and another 15 touchdowns. While he plays quarterback for Princeton, he’ll likely be a running back in college.
RB- Dillon Baxter(CA) 5'11" 187 (6.0) - Verbal Commit - USC
WR's (2-3)
##WR- Adrian Coxson(MD) 6'2" 186 (5.9)- Larry Johnson Sr. offered Coxson in early January. Another tidbit from BWI's Sean Fitz with this one, former Penn State wide receiver Bryant Johnson is a graduate of Baltimore City College High School, and the two know each other well. The two are supposed to train together this summer, and apparently it was Johnson that turned PSU on to Coxson. Jr. Year Highlights: He really uses his size well and has some agressiveness to his play. And though you cant really tell speed from film besides a good guess, he pulled away from guys when ahead and had some nice burst in traffic. He isnt slow. Some are beginning to think that Coxson may be an early verbal to PSU. but right now, wants to keep that level of interest a secret. He is scheduled to visit University Park on March 7th. That may be all she wrote if things go well. As Penn State fans we should certainly hope so. I think this kid is already committed. Since this paragraph was written, it has been leaked that PSU has a secret verbal and it's supposedly a WR.
##WR- Alex Kenney(PA) 6'0" 191 (5.8)- Nice size AND he runs a 4.35 forty. Interest in him? I would say yes.....All the Big10, FLA, UCLA, VA, and WF. He mentions liking the UCLA mail and VA as well, and about PSU he has this to say..."You can't really beat a school like Penn State," he said. "Growing up here, Penn State football is like mad nice. They've got all the facilities and everything is like that much better than every other schools. There's always people saying that "you could be the hometown hero if you went to Penn State." I'm not saying I'm going to go there, but there has been a lot of pressure to go there. The thing is, when you grow up somewhere, you kind of want to get away, at least a little bit, so there's going to be the deciding factor, whether I want to stay home or actually go somewhere." Looking good though mighty early. Coaches might still have to work it, though being in State College, they dont have to travel far. Should receive Top100 consideration. He may be more of an athlete/slot guy than a true WR but personally, Im ok with that! As a sophomore Kenney totaled 1,000 yards of offense, averaging 7.3 yards-per-carry and 26.8 yards-per-catch. He also scored 11 total touchdowns. He was a third team Class AAAA all-state selection as an athlete. At the Pennsylvania state track and field championships on May 23-24, he finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.75 and fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.82 seconds. On Penn State (12/23/08)...“I’m definitely interested in Penn State,” Kenney said. “It’s right in my backyard. It’s a big football school and the education is definitely good. A lot of people here take Penn State for granted. But there are a lot of people that would die to go there.” And this as to his legitamacy as an athlete, “He is a good one,” State College coach Al Wolski said. “He gets more physical every year. ##WR- Justin Hunter(VA) 6'4" 172 (5.9)- Should get some serious interest from around the country. We will see if PSU shows the interest? He is a big time 3 sport athlete and we know how Joe likes his multiple sport athletes!! Scouting Report: Hunter is a tall, rangy wide receiver with excellent ball skills. He has good speed and can beat man-to-man coverage but his true strength is in winning jump ball battles with his leaping ability. He catches the ball at its highest point and adjusts to it well in the air. The 6-foot-4 and 180-pound Hunter runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, has excellent hands and a 42-inch vertical jump. Hunter is also one of the country’s top track athletes.
WR- Salath Williams(PA) 6'3" 175 (5.7)- Harrisburg area kid and maybe the best in the state at WR. More to come, rest assured! Here is some Highlight clips of Salath in achtion. He has received an offer from Pitt.
##WR- Kyle Prater(IL) 6'4" 200 (5.9)- Has reportedly been offered by Penn State or will be soon. "I was able to talk with Mike McQueary, who's the wide receiver coach at Penn State on the drive to Iowa on Sunday morning. I had a really good talk with him about Penn State. He mentioned that Penn State is going to be looking to sign three receivers in this next recruiting class and that they would be offering me soon and that I would be one of the receivers they would like to bring into the Class of 2010." He has a 'hot' name for the recruiting lists right now. Getting a lot of interest and offers coming his way currently. I'd be very surprised if PSU even has a snowball's chance, here.
##WR- Kenny Stills(CA) 6'2" 170 (5.8)- "I want to go back east and check out Penn St., Florida, Texas and schools like that," Stills said. "I have interest in playing for a big time school, and I want to go check out the schools and the lifestyle there. I'll play anywhere, my main thing is getting along with the coaches." Many think Stills might be the best player in San Diego, even if you include the 2009 class. Through six games this season, he had 40 receptions for 757 yards, good enough to lead all of San Diego. He also had big games against Orange County powers Mission Viejo and Santa Margarita. Stills has a great combination of size, speed and play-making ability. Find some Stills footage here at sandiegoballers.com. Stills participated the FBU camp in San Diego yesterday and took home the lone Most Outstanding Camper award (Maxwell Award). Dillon Baxter was at the event, to put it in perspective. His season totals for his Junior year were 64 catches for 1,250 yards and 18 touchdowns. I hope they are not chasing ghosts again. But from what I have gathered, this kid has legit interest in Penn State and PSU is in his top 2 with Stanford.
WR- Devontae Stamps(MD) 6'2" 175 (5.6)- 4.6 forty time as a soph. Same HS as A.J. Wallace and he should get some consideration as a Top player in the VA class for '10. Penn State is showing him little interest and his attention may be to the south anyway right now.
WR- Sharrard Harrington(DC) 6'1" 174 (5.7)- Reporting a 4.4 forty right now. He is planning to camp at PSU if he hasnt already. "Harrington is taking a hard look at four schools, though it's still very early in the recruiting process. He said his favorites at this point are Florida, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Rutgers." WR- Eric Williams(PA) 6'3" 192 (5.6)- From the NJ Ultimate100 Camp..." At wide receiver, the clear MVP award winner was Eric Williams from Fairless Hills (Pa.) Pennsbury. Williams is 6-3 and 192 pounds and ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash. He also had a vertical of 34 inches and made some amazing catches in the 7-on-7 tournament. He showed great body control, good strength and excellent hands."
WR- Andrew Carswell(PA) 6'4" 209 (5.6)- Plays with Paul Jones . Nice talent and possibly will want to play with Jones. One to watch. He is getting his own interest away from Jones as well....even from the South a bit with Duke and NC State already offering.
WR- Terrance Casper(NJ) 6'6" 197 (5.6)- Looks to have a ton of potential...Has drawn Calvin Johnson type comparisons from some. We will see where this one goes...

WR- Shakim Phillips(NJ) 6'2" 191 (5.6)- Phillips played in only four games as a sophomore due to a strained muscle in his lower back but he made the most of it. In those four games he had 22 catches for 386 yards and four touchdowns. He was a standout at the BigTime Showcase back in May as well. He should receive some big interest and he is definitely one to watch in the early going here. Some expect him to be the #1 player in NJ this year, but if so, then why hasnt Rutgers offered him yet? Makes you wonder.
TE's (1-2)
TE- C.J. Fiedorowicz(IL) 6'7" 240 (6.0)- Kid is what you call a National Recruit. Been offered by many from Arizona, to Illinois and Nd, to LSU. Bunch of others as well. Cant see why we couldnt get in the mix as well. Looking for an offense that throws to the TE a lot, uh oh. He reports a 4.55 forty which would just be scary!! Lets see what happens. From Rivals 250 to Watch Eval: Arizona, Duke, Indiana, Iowa, LSU, Notre Dame, Wisconsin and others can’t be wrong. Fiedorowicz has been a household name in Illinois since he started in football, basketball and baseball. With his size and playmaking ability, he should be one of the top tight ends in the nation for next season. He could also be recruited in basketball.
TE- Brian Volger(GA) 6'7" 236 (5.8)- Has offers early here from some SEC schools and MD. We will se if we hit up GA at all as there is a Bunch of talent down there next season. Enormous TE with even more upside, Vogler is the next great TE from the state (GA). Has very good and very soft hands. Concentrates well and can take a hit. Is a solid blocker, both at the LOS and down-field. Must gain weight to battle for a full season. Long-strider who covers ground quickly, he will develop better body control as he gains strength and physical maturity, thus adding change of direction to his skill set is the eval on him.
TE- Josh Lovell(VA) 6'5" 260 - Already has some offers early and has been being recruited by some big time programs. PSU is one of them showing interest. He has already been to a camp at PSU last year. More to come....
I really hope they have more than 3 kids on their actual target board for TE next season, because from what I can tell, we need 2. We MUST get 1.
OL's (3-4)
##OT- Seth Betancourt(PA) 6'6.5" 290 (5.9)- Teammate of Marc Arc. Maybe a better player already if reports are true from his coach. In addition to the Irish, Betancourt has heard quite a bit from Penn State and Rutgers. He plans to visit both of those schools this summer. From an interview conducted with him, speaking of Penn State..."Penn State completely blew me away. I love the tradition they got goin' on there. I love the facilities. And, I love JoePa, so it worked out." Very well spoken young man. He also had some nice things to say about ND and Rutgers. But after, ;). Speaks with Marc Arc a bit about PSU as well. Rivals.com: Scouting Report: Betancourt has a tremendous frame and looks like he can add plenty of weight. He has a strong punch in pass protection and moves his feet well. He shows solid balance for a young tackle and plays with good leverage in the running game. He has tremendous upside. The Seltz' Feelin': PSU in the drivers seat While Big Seth is willing to say he will look at anyone, anywhere, he will also follow that up with this: “I went to the Penn State-Michigan game. It was amazing. I had a great time. I don’t think it can get better than that. That was the first time I’ve been there.” I think PSU lands this kid.
OT- Seantrel Henderson(MN) 6'8" 301 (6.1)- Possibly a top 5 player in the country. Already holds an abundance of offers(verbal of course). One to watch. From Rivals.com: FIVE-STAR CANDIDATE: Henderson already is at a size that he can compete at in college. He is extremely mobile and runs better than almost every other lineman in the country ? in the junior and senior class. He also has excellent pad level and uses his hands at the point of attack. Here is some film from his jr. season. Junior Highlights. He may be attending camp at PSU this spring or summer.
OT- Matt James(OH) 6'8" 280 (5.7)- One of the next big OL from OH. Should receive a ton of attention. OSU cant get them all, no reason not to go after the bigtime talents. James’ father played football at Cincinnati and it looks like the massive 6-foot-8, 280-pounder will have his pick of schools. James is 16 years old and wears a size 15 shoe. He said he reached the 6-foot mark in the seventh grade. His skills are finally catching up with his frame and he is expected to be even more dominating as a senior. Early OSU lean and Very possible early OSU commit....
OT- Robert Crisp(NC) 6'6" 302 (6.0)- With a 4.9 forty to promote a bit of athletism. "However, it was Crisp, all 6-foot-8 and 293 pounds of him, who took home the OL MVP award. The sophomore tackle has five-star potential and is one of the top underclassmen in the country. His footwork in drills was amazing for such a big, young player and he was dominant in the one-on-ones against a very strong group of defensive linemen." That OLine MVP Award came to him...and Xavier Nixon...yes, highly touted and highly recruited Xavier Nixon and Peter White as well were both in attendence. Needless to say, this kid will be HEAVILY recruited barring an early commit. Clemson may have the lead right now. Rivals.com: FIVE-STAR CANDIDATE: Crisp has impressive size and excellent feet for an offensive tackle. He’s advanced as a pass blocker, and his lateral ability is impressive. He uses his long arms well and gets to the second level effectively. His run blocking will be more effective as he gets his pad level lower.
OT- Miles Dieffenbach(PA) 6'5" 271 (5.6)- Only offer to date is Pitt. Rivals 250 to watch list. His dad is currently the tennis coach at sPitt. So they would have the early lead one would assume. However, he visited for the Indiana game and then is to come again the following week.... 2 visits in 2 weeks to the same school should certainly mean we are at least in it and making an impression. Says he has had a relationship with Bradley for a while as well. I think we have a real chance at this kid, despite his old man's ties to Pitt.
OT- Jake Kaufman(NJ) 6'8" 320 (5.7)- "My recruitment is going great," said Kaufman. "There are lots of big colleges showing me interest by inviting me to games and visits. The colleges showing me lots of interest are Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Ohio State, Penn State, Boise State, Rutgers, Florida, Boston College, Maryland, UCLA, Oregon, TCU, Virginia, and North Carolina State." He hasnt really done much in the way of visiting to date as he is pretty dedicated to his team and state title possibilities. One to watch maybe as it looks like he may be recruited pretty heavily. Take a look at this kid's size.
##OT- James Hurst(IN) 6'5" 275 (5.7)- Regarded as the top player in Indiana for the class of 2010, Hurst is a big tackle that moves really well for his size. He’s also one of the strongest players in the Midwest with a 480-pound squat and a 325-pound bench press. Hurst also has the brains with a 4.135 grade point average and his list of early offers rivals anybody in the nation with teams like Michigan State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Purdue already offering.
##OG- Luke Graham(PA) 6'6" 270 (5.7)- We are most likely in the lead here as I believe his Pa went to Penn State. He has early offers from Illinois, Fla International, and Duke. Just offered by PSU and this one could be over very quick. Once he is on campus, it is pretty much a done deal. He has the great frame to add a lot of good weight. Very quick feet, very agile, and extremely aggressive. Early ranking of about 15 in all of PA. Named to the Fab22 team this past season. I really hope they land this kid.
##OT- Robbie Havenstein(MD) 6'7" 333 (5.7)- He attended 3 or 4 of PSU's game this year and I believe he's from the same high school in Maryland as Mike Lucian. He looks well put together in his pics from the visit. No offers to date it seems....so we'll see! Sean Fitz of BWI said that he is a big, aggressive kid who plays with a mean streak. He's pretty athletic, too. From watching his film, he is a bully on the run and very solid and athletic dropping back to pass. Also, he is very aware when he gets to the second level and seems to make some good decisions(seems to have a nice football intelligence to go with his athletism). Him too.
OT- Mark Shuman(VA) 6'6" 270 (5.9)- Kid is already wowing people and says he is open to everyone. Seems to have a strong liking to Tennessee early(knows a kid that is there already). Dont know if we will go after him, but one to watch. His brother currently plays at VT. Shuman is the son of Fork Union Military post-graduate head coach John Shuman and the younger brother of Virginia Tech offensive lineman Ryan Shuman. He is considered one of the best lineman prospects on the east coast for the class of 2010 and is a natural leader and hard worker.

##DL/TE- Kyle Baublitz(PA) 6'5" 244 (5.8)- From Rivals.com: Baublitz is one of the best two-way players in the state of Pennsylvania for 2010. As a freshman he was named all-county at middle linebacker and as a sophomore he was named all-county at middle linebacker and at tight end. He projects as a tight end, defensive end or defensive tackle at the next level. From BWI board members who have seen him play, he just makes his presence known on the field. Seems he is destined for TE, but as mentioned above, he has D1 capabilities both ways. Personally see him on the Defensive Side, but we will see what the staff thinks here. On Penn State: “I went to the Penn State-Indiana game and the Penn State-Michigan game,” Baublitz said. “It was really neat. The atmosphere was awesome. The fans were great. I talked to Larry Johnson. Now coach (Mike) McQueary is recruiting me.” He's a D-line kid in college all the way.
DT/OG- Dequan Jones(NY) 6'4" 302 (5.7)- Scouting Report: Jones is a big offensive guard with light feet and impressive agility. He plays with good leverage and is especially adept at pulling and getting to the second level. Jones is also a physical prospect who is advanced in pass protection for a young prospect. DaQuan Jones had 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 steals last night to lead his basketball team to victory(12/23). The best part was when he got switched out on the other team's best player, a 5'9" guard, and the kid tried to go by him and couldn't. Then he tried to pull from deep and got his shot punched halfway down the other end of the court where DaQuan's teammate scooped it up and made a layup. The guard figured he could take the big guy easy, but I guess he doesn't understand the athleticism this kid has. On a BC article the quote from Dequan is, "They're(BC) my second choice right now. My dad and I were talking about Penn State. We want to go to some camps and see if they would be interested in me. They're at the top for me right now." Surprised more schools arent on this kid yet.
OL/DL- Jordan Kain(NJ) 6'5" 285 - Another perfect student-athlete. Kain, despite the fact that he missed nearly half the season in 2008 with a series of nagging leg injuries, is considered to be the best offensive or defensive line prospect in south Jersey for the class of 2010. He has 5.0 40-yard speed, an 82-inch wingspan and will be recruited by schools across the country because he's the perfect student-athlete, holding a 3.5 GPA in honors courses. Penn State is certain to offer Kain and Kingsway Tony Barchuk indicated to BWI that Vanderlinden has already been in the school to fully check out Kain and obtain his junior film. You name the school among the top 25 teams in the country, and they've already contacted Barchuk about Kain. Besides Penn State, Big East teams, ACC teams and most Big Ten teams, plus national champion Florida, are showing big interest in Kain.
##LB/RB/FB- Zack Zwinak(MD) 6'2" 240 (5.8)- Claiming an early PSU offer on his profile. Will wait for the Sean Fitz confirmation. From Washingtonpost.com: The Lancers are a physical team, relying on a multitalented rushing attack. Junior Zack Zwinak (6-2, 240) is a bruiser, having rushed for 1,270 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 11.1 yards per carry. He has the speed to outrun smaller defenders and the brawn to push other would-be tacklers aside. He has officially received his Virgina Tech offer. His dad played for VTech. Could only be a matter of time before he 'cashes in' on that one.
##DT/OG- Sharriff Floyd(PA) 6'4" 300 (5.8)- Penn State has been recruiting him since he was a sophmore in HS. We will see if he recieves an offer or not. At the U.S. Army National Combine, Shariff showed his stuff. He was considered the best DT there. To put it in perspective, Nick Acree was also there, and Nick is regarded by most services as top of the line as far as Defensive Tackles goes.
##LB/DE/TE- Sherard Cadogan(NJ) 6'3" 230 (5.7)- Cadogan is rated by many as the best prospect in South Jersey for the senior prep class of 2010. He is what you would classify as the perfect student-athlete. He's reported to have 4.55 speed and his played the past two years on offense and defense has earned him both all-south Jersey recognition by the Camden Courier Post on both sides of the football. In 2008, Cadogan was credited with close to 100 tackles, 30 tackles for loss and 14 sacks, giving him 26 sacks in two years. On offense, in 2008, he had 35 receptions for 481 yards and five touchdowns. He has already received three D1 written offers from Rutgers, Stanford, and has been notified by Penn State that a written scholarship offer will be coming the day after Signing Day (Feb. 4). Academically, Cadogan carries a 3.91 GPA in honors courses. BWI hasn't verified this yet, but we've been told that he is related to both Gerald and Nate Cadogan. 4* possibility.

#DT- Denzel McCoy(GA) 6'4" 275 (5.9)- Already reporting a verbal PSU offer on his profile. Memphis and Alabama as well. Alabama is in his top four along with Clemson, North Carolina and Georgia. Alabama is right at the top for Denzel. It is very early in the recruiting process for him, but you never know when a decision may come. I think he is going to take his time and study his options." From his coach. "After Alabama, I also like Clemson, Penn State, Georgia, and Maryland. Those would be my top five schools. I just want to see how things go this season and who offers me." That would put us in his early top 5, and considering he has about 25+ offers, that is a pretty good start. We will see how serious the interest is....
##DE- Dakota Royer(PA) 6'3" 222 (5.9)- Kid is good! Period. From the Ultimate100 camp..."Royer was virtually unstoppable during the linemen one-on-ones. Although some of his offensive opponents may have had a size advantage, none had an answer for Royer. He used tremendous quickness and sound technique to constantly blast his way past the linemen. The defensive end already has an impressive, chiseled frame standing 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 222 pounds. Most college coaches are handed the task of putting some bulk on incoming freshmen, although that shouldn't be a problem for the already powerful Royer. He has been receiving interest from Florida, Pitt, Penn State and UConn. Royer will definitely be one to watch in the future." Royer had 107 tackles with an impressive 31 for a loss as a sophomore. He also had 12 sacks and two fumble recoveries. He was a two-time standout at the Schuman Underclassmen Combines, winning the most one-on-ones at the Ultimate100 this past summer. Junior Must See Highlights for Dakota. Is a big PSU fan but is taking his time with recruiting.
DT- Terrance Bourne(DE) 6'1" 312 (5.6)-PSU interest one way or the other or both. He won the OLine MVP as well at the most recent Ultimate100 camp in NJ. Kid could be another highly sought after DE recruit. Ran a 4.8 forty at a recent summer combine!!! Wow! He is already standing 6', and he just turned 16 this past summer. Lots of potential here!!
##DE- Ego Ferguson Jr.(MD) 6'4" 270 (6.1)-Oh what LJ could do with this young man. Will be heavily recruited most likely and may be one of the best at his position as Strong side DE. Lots of interest early here. This from a recent article..."The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder has exploded on the scene with early offers from Maryland, Tennessee, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Clemson, South Carolina and Illinois. Ferguson had 18 sacks as a junior and hasn't even begun to narrow down his list of favorites as offers continue to come in. Other than Crisp, Ferguson could have the most letters waiting for him when he gets home from school on Sept. 1 from the Atlantic East region." DT- Evan Hailes(VA) 6'2" 320 (5.8)- Someone on the board here had some very nice things to say about him that has seen him play and it would be great to hear those things again so I can add them here. Continually mentioned as a player to watch for the 2010 class at every camp he attends! Should be a top 10 player for the VA class of '10. Hailes is a massive defensive tackle prospect who can play in a 4-3 or as a nose in a 3-4 defense in college. He plays with good leverage and is quick for his size. He’s especially stout against the run but can also get a push up the middle on passing downs. The southern teams seem to hold his interest most at the moment.
##DE- C.J. Olaniyan(MI) 6'3" 230 - Claiming a Penn State offer....
DE- Darryl Baldwin(OH) 6'6" 240 (5.7)- Baldwin has an offer list that rivals anybody else in the Midwest with powers like Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia already on board. Baldwin is built like few others with a great 6-6, 240-pound frame. OSU cant take them all.....but will prolly get this one.
DT- Dante Weaver(NJ) 6'3" 320 (5.7)- Scouting Report: Weaver could play defensive tackle or offensive guard at the next level. He’s a very strong, aggressive player who overpowers opponents at the high school level. He has a strong burst off the line of scrimmage and a great bull rush from his defensive tackle position. His balance is exceptional for a big man.

Hopefully that leads him to the right place...cough, cough-PSU! - Special player and the next star from the WPIAL; Arguably the best LB on the field as a sophomore against Andrew Sweat and Mike Yanich. Legit 4.5 according to his coach and one hell of an athlete. LBU is calling Mike....Come aboard!!! Hull’s father and uncle played football for Penn State. He earned first team all-conference honors as a freshman and sophomore and totaled more than 200 tackles in each of his first two years. On offense, he rushed for more than 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore. Committed November of junior year. Penn State's first Class of 2010 pledge... 2008: Registered over 100 tackles. ##OLB- Travis Williams(VA) 6'2" 189 (5.8)- Has a lot of offers already, and one from Linebacker U as well. And this year you know we are only offering studs. Will be visiting for the Mich St. game on Nov. 23('08) and we will hopefully know more about his interest(still early) after that game. Scouting Report: Williams is a rangy linebacker with long arms and excellent coverage ability. At the NIKE Camp at North Carolina this past spring he was one of the top underclassmen standouts and could end up as a big safety or a speedy outside linebacker at the next level.
OLB- Nick Forbes(MD) 6'1" 215 (5.8)- Forbes had a monster sophomore year on both sides of the football. On defense, where he projects in college, he had 99 tackles and 10 sacks. On offense he rushed for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns. Forbes is also a track standout as he was No. 1 in Maryland as a sophomore in the discus and No. 4 in the shotput. To top off his stats, he was a TJ co-captain, he possesses a 3.65 GPA in college prep courses. He won the prestigious Hugh O'Brien Youth Award, and is a member of the chess and Spanish clubs. 4* possibility. From what I have heard, this kid is amazing.
MLB- Chase Williams(VA) 6'3" 235 (5.6)- He visited for the PSU vs. MSU season finale. He has some real nice film. Nice size and good speed. Seems to be instinctive and flows to the ball. We will see if he likes PSU and vice versa. 2008: Registered 163 total tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, 11 pass breakups, six forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Caught 36 passes for 481 yards (13.4 average) and three touchdowns... Rushed for two touchdowns. Honorable mention all-state as a tight end... Honorable mention all-metro as a linebacker... First team all-league pick (offense and defense)... All-county first team defense... All-district selection. All-district pick. 2007: Recorded 117 total tackles and 22 tackles for loss. MLB- Anthony Beard(TX) 6'2" 220 (5.6)- He states: "I like the way Penn State plays". The early interest, great or small, is there. Lets see where this goes. We have limited ships and the LB position is one place we can be Very selective with. Watching his film, he is a very aggressive and oft times punishing LB. I, for one, like my LB's that way. Lions have landed 2 pretty good recruits from TX the past 2 years, and I would really like to keep that streak going.
##ILB- Khairi Fortt(CT) 6'2" 220 (5.9)- The kid is good and will be one of the top linebacker prospects in the country next year and he has early offers from UConn, Boston College, Rutgers, North Carolina and Clemson so far. Scouting Report: Fortt is a big linebacker with very long arms and excellent lateral quickness. He’s very active, scrapes off blockers well and is effective in coverage due to his length. At the NIKE Camp at Penn State last spring he was one of the linebacker standouts in the one-on-one drills. "During the season I visited Rutgers, UConn, BC and Penn State," he said. "I don't have any favorites but the two best trips were to Penn State and BC. They were two exciting games and both of them had a lot of fan support. All the players were hyped, there were big crowds and I liked the energy."
LB- Kevin Pierre-Louis(CT) 6'1" 205 - Don't know why there's no write up on him, he goes to the same HS as RB Silas Redd and he is extremely interested in Penn State.

OLB- Jordan Hicks(OH) 6'2" 210 (5.9)- Sub 4.6 forty as well. Lists OSU, Tex, PSU, Fla, and USC as his schools of interest to date. His coach had this to say about him..."He doesn't turn 16 for another two weeks. He's a pretty special, special athlete. He's one of those kids that just gets everything really, really fast," said Cox. "He's one of the most intelligent players that I've ever had the opportunity to coach. You don't fluster him. In a big-time situation, you can't tell if it's a pressure play or just a first down play by his reaction. He just doesn't get flustered." From Rivals.com: His sophomore season saw him rack up 51 tackles, seven tackles for a loss and two sacks. He backed that up with a very solid junior campaign where he was seen on film in several games flying all over the field making big play after big play. He’s also got a nice early national offer list from teams like Florida, Illinois, Ohio State, Stanford and Texas.

##CB- Tejay Johnson(NJ) 6'2" 190 (5.7)- Johnson may be the fastest recruit in all of South Jersey for the upcoming class of 2010. He has run a 10.62 100m and is reported by his high school coach Tony DeRosa as having 4.35 40-yard speed. Johnson played both running back and defensive back at Egg Harbor Township but DeRosa believes he'll play on defense at the college level at either FS or at the CB position to the wide side of the field. Reportedly, Rutgers, Penn State, and Maryland have verbally offered Johnson and Ohio State, Michigan State, Pitt, Maryland and a host of ACC and Big East schools, along with Florida, have a major interest in Johnson. Tejay put together his own film, when googled, his MySpace video comes up: He couldl be a 4* possibility as well. PSU needs to adopt a policy where they do not accept any corners under 6'0". Obviously with that being said, they should pursue Johnson and Allen with full force.
##DB/WR- Keenan Allen(NC) 6'2" 189 (6.0)- An excellent Athlete that PSU seems to be recruiting as a WR. Already holding a ton of verbal offers, including a PSU offer, he seems to be an Alabama lead early on here. We will have to wait to see what happens and if he visits at all to really gauge whether he has serious interest in PSU. Though he is almost certainly an Alabama lean, he held off on an early commitment to think things through and his coach had this to say: "Alabama, Clemson and Penn State are pretty much the three schools that he is looking at. At the end of the day, I just think he decided that there was no rush and to give it a little more time." While maybe unlikely that he would choose PSU, the hope is still there as of now.
CB- Colton Charles(PA) 5'11" 190 (5.7)- And he runs a 4.41 forty. From down in Harrisburg at Central Dauphin. He is not worried about Distance and the early schools he is interested in are OK, PSU, and Boise St. "Oklahoma is my school" he says. Likes the way they run the offense. Plays some RB and maybe sees himself there, though most services project him at CB currently. Though he shows that interest in Oklahoma, he is showing some strong interest in PSU as well. I would say OK leads with us close behind here early.
DB- Chad Hagan(PA) 6'1" 210 (5.5)- Palys on the same team as Penn State commit at LB Mike Hull. Very good athlete and says he runs a 4.4 forty though some 4.55 times have been listed. Either way the kid has some decent speed. He is a RB as well, so the kid has some skill and is versatile. Some quotes from his recent article from a local paper... “Penn State is my favorite school for sure,” Hagan said. “I really like the atmosphere at Penn State,” Hagan said. “Whenever I have been to a game there I have enjoyed every part of it. I like what Penn State is about. They are more about the team than the individual. I really like that.”
CB- Louis Young(MD) 6'1" 198 - Stanford Soft Verbal. Expecting a PSU offer possibly in the next few weeks.
CB- DeAndre Harris(OH) 5'11" 186 (5.7)- Runs a 4.56 time(as a soph so not bad). Visited for the Blue White game, or at least was supposed to. Early, very early...so we will see? He seems very aggressive on film, very physical.
CB- Cullen Christian(PA) 6'1" 185 (5.7)- “I have two (scholarship) offers: Michigan and Pitt,” Christian said. “And I have a lot of interest from Maryland, Penn State, Ohio State, West Virginia, Virginia, Oregon, UCLA, Rutgers, Syracuse, and I think there are a couple more I’m missing.” When asked which schools he is most interested in, Christian said, “Pitt, Michigan, Ohio State, Maryland and Penn State.” Here are some Highlights of 'Buc'. Michigan seems to be his current favorite and many a Michigan fan believe there is a possibility of him joining their class relatively early in the process here. Strange that this is the only kid listed who seems to be favoring Michigan. They lose that much pull already? I'm certainly not complaining.
DB- Ray Vinopal(OH) 5'10" 185 (5.7)- 4.45 forty as well. Kid is very talented and was being noticed even as a freshman on the camp scene. He is playing in Ohio, so Ohio State is in the picture. Cardinal Mooney's coaching staff has ties to LSU and Oklahoma, so they know of him. And the most recent is that he has some big interest in Penn State as well, and that big time LB 2010 verbal commit to the Lions, Mike Hull, has already been in contact with him to try to bring him across state lines into PA to join former teammates Brandon Beachum and Mike Zordich. This kid is one heck of an athlete overall and will remind one of a younger Anthony Scirrotto. Just does everything well. “I’d have to say the schools I get the most mail from would be Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Notre Dame,” Vinopal said. He is also hearing from Alabama, Illinois, and Mich St among others. “I’m getting recruited as an athlete,” Vinopal said. “I’ll fit in where I can. I think I could play safety or slot receiver, but hopefully it will be safety. I like defense.” While he wont come right out and say it, most feel he would have a real tough time turning down an offer from Paterno and Penn State. “I like Penn State a lot,” Vinopal said. “It’s a three hour drive from my house. I have buddies going there, Mike Zordich and Brandon Beachum. The facilities are top of the line. And they have a great fan base.” Some Ray 2007 Highlights. We need Vinopal.

CB- Dior Mathis(MI) 5'8" 160 (5.8)- Receiving some big early offers and even bigger teams showing interest as well. We will have to see if PSU throws its name in to the hat with the offer. It is too early to tell that yet. 4.37 forty listed is definitely something that will catch your attention I would say.
CB- William Jones(DE) 5'11" 160 (5.6)- Received an Honorable Mention from the Army All-American Junior camp. More to come....
CB- Lamarcus Joyner(FL) 5'9" 170 (5.9)- Besides his 4.34 forty time his measurables don't exactly stand out, but on film there isn't a better cornerback in the country. 'Mr. Frankenstein' is the definition of electric and one of the ten best players in the nation...this per a recruiting site. Some Joyner Film Not saying PSU will be in this one, just one I will be watching to see how he develops. Rivals agrees: Scouting Report: Joyner will be one of the nation's top rated cornerback prospects. He's physical and certainly plays bigger than 166 pounds. Joyner is an explosive hitter and he has all the intangibles to be an outstanding defensive back at the next level.
CB- Adrian White(TX) 6'0" 180 (5.9)- With his 4.41 forty as well The top DB in Texas and will challenge Joyner as the nation's best corner. White is so physical he could play safety, but with improved technique could become a Carlos Rogers level talent. He is one to watch in this class(yes, I like my CB's) but like Joyner may never even sniff PSU. Just could be fun to see who is the better CB according to the guru's here. White has seen his stock rise after a summer during which he blew up the camp circuits. As an underclassman he was named the MVP of Fort Worth Nike Camp and he had similarly impressive performances at multiple college camps. His early offer sheet reflects his offseason work.

##DB/WR- Brandon Ifill(PA) 6'0" 180 (5.8)- Runs a 4.57 listed forty and currently list PSU, Michigan, and Pitt as teams that have offered him early on. He is not a blazer, but he is fast enough. He runs very crisp routes and he catches almost anything thrown in his direction. He also showed some moxy and he never backed down from any challenge.
##RB/DB- Darnell Laws(NJ) 6'2" 220 (5.7)- Physically, Laws may be almost a carbon copy of Penn State early-enrollee and class of 2009 member, Gerald Hodges. Laws is a four-year varsity performer who has unbelievable cutback ability for a player of his size. He's reported to have 4.5 40-yard speed and he's projected by most, even though he's rushed for close to 1,500 yards on offense as the perfect strong safety prospect at the college level. It's amazing, but Laws, just like every other top prospect in south Jersey's class of 2010, is a quality student. He maintains a 3.1 GPA and has scored over 1400 on the SAT.
DB/WR- Jordan Thomas(NY) 6'2" 195 (5.6)- 4.45 forty. UNC is recruiting him as an offensive player and UConn is recruiting him as an athlete. He's also hearing from Michigan, Alabama, Penn State, and Syracuse, but the most right now from Rutgers, UConn, and UNC. He may quite possibly be the #1 player in New York for the class of 2010. He has the drive and determination to maybe compete for some early playing time in the correct situation.
CB/WR- J.T. Tartacoff(NJ) 6'0" 184 (5.7)- Runs a listed 4.42 forty time. Check that...a 4.39 now!! Plays a good bit of WR but was named the Most Complete Football Player @ the Ultimate100 camp. A top notch athlete it seems. Nice with the ball in his hands, and I am wondering if he wouldnt make a fine CB with his measurables....something we will have to wait and see on.
As you can see, traditional PSU recruiting areas of PA, MD, NJ are LOADED with top prospects for the 2010 class. Ohio is also pretty stacked. It's going to be very interesting. And I am sure that from this article you can see how much interest there is in Penn State. Now, will they drop the ball or put together the best class in PSU history?

##QB- Paul Jones(PA) 6'4" 233 (6.0)- Early Top100 candidate for '10 class possibly. According to what appears to be his mother, PSU will be in it till the end with this talented young man. Said to be coming to at least 3 PSU games this year is the good news. Said to be spending a LOT of time at Pitt is the bad news. He was pretty pleased to hear of a certain QB commitment to Mich as opposed to PSU. May have called PSU to check the status on the spot? Should be receiving a letter here on Sept. 2nd signifying PSU's interest in him. That scholarship offer. ##QB/ATH- Anthony Gonzalez(PA) 6'3" 195 (5.8)- AAAA Player of the Year in Pennsylvania! Impressive, especially as a Junior. Playmaker on both sides of the ball. Plays QB on offense and is decent, but to me he is not a true QB. I like him best personally in the defensive backfield. PSU is reported to have offered the young man and Im sure the will take a good look at this PA talent and see how he compares to the others. He would like to play offense at the next level, but wont make an issue of it. He states he has always liked Penn State growing up. This kid is an excellent talent with a ton of upside. Being looked at currently by PSU as a QB.
QB- Josh Marshall (MD)6'3" 183 (5.5)- Grew up a Pitt fan, yikes. LOL Called his ND visit phenomenal. He lists PSU as an early team of interest. Runs a 4.55 forty reportedly. A comparison if you will. His HS does NOT play sophmores yet he played. Dominic Clarke the O$U CB commit did not even play as a soph. Should tell ya something of the kids talents
QB- Joe Brennan(NJ) 6'4" 195 - Brennan is rated by most recruiting analysts to be the best QB prospect in New Jersey and he attended the U.S. Army All-American Combine in San Antonio this January. As a first year starter last fall, he completed 147 of 255 passes for 2438 yards and 25 touchdowns. He is very athletic, with a 4.65 forty and rushed for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns last season. Bennan is an outstanding student with a 3.45 GPA. He may be receiving a scholarship offer from Penn State shortly after signing day. He is being heavily recruited by a host of schools across the country presently.

QB- Devin Gardner(MI) 6'4" 195 (5.7)- Getting a ton of interest as a legit duel threat QB. Seems to have a bit of PSU interest as well. This kid is definitely real good, no doubt and may be a lot of big name teams' second choice. There is a rumor floating around he may be looking to take a visit to Penn State.
QB- Phillip Sims(VA) 6'2" 215 (6.0)- PSU almost has to offer the kid though they seem to view PJ as the highest priority. May not happen now though with the quick commit of Jones. Sims' numbers for his career include a freshman season of 1,400 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, a sophomore season of 3,100 passing yards and 33 touchdowns, and an ongoing undefeated junior season that has him sitting at 2,273 passing yards and 29 touchdowns. VTech should lead having been recruiting him for years now. Then Georgia and Alabama seem to hold the next 2 spots.
QB- Alex Zordich(OH) 6'3" 195 - Zordich has come a long way in a short period of time. Last year, he was the third-string quarterback on a loaded Mooney team. This year, Zordich is running the show and running it well. He has an above average arm and throws a very catchable ball. For not being very experienced as a starter he is remarkably poised in the pocket. There is not a lot of wasted motion in his delivery. He is very efficient and accurate. Zordich is also deceptively athletic for his size and mobile. He may be the biggest PSU fan in the family, which would be saying something. Lets keep an eye on the possible legacy recruit. “I’ve been to Penn State a lot of times, ever since I was young,” Alex said. “I went to three games this season, when they played Michigan State, Illinois and Indiana. “It’s real neat there. And the family history is a neat thing with my brother playing for the same coach as my dad.” However, Alex said brother Michael is not trying influence him too much. “My brother would love to see me go to Penn State,” Alex said. “But he says I have to keep my eyes open. Everyone says I’m a lock to go to Penn State, but I’m interested in whoever is interested in me.” The list of schools sending mail and showing interest in Alex includes Penn State, Northwestern, Kansas and Cincinnati.
RB's (1-2)
##RB- Silas Redd(CT) 5'10" 187 (5.9)- He 'Wowed' the PSU coaches at summer camp. Redd was an all-county and second-team all-state performer in Connecticut his sophomore year, rushing for close to 1,300 yards and 23 touchdowns. BWI has been told that Redd received a verbal offer from the Lions' coaching staff at the conclusion of the third week of camp. Scouting Report: Redd can play running back, wide receiver or cornerback in college. He is very strong for his size, cuts on a dime and has excellent ball skills. Redd is very coachable and picks things up quickly. He is also a natural leader. His latest film is out. Kid has some burners and is great with the footwork and also making himself 'skinny' in traffic. Nice footwork and balance as well. When asked about Penn State and receiving the offer he was very exited and said, among other things, "I've been a fan since I was about seven. My first Pop Warner coach went to Penn State, and it was kind of like instilled in me," he said. "A lot of the kids up here don't really like Penn State, but they didn't grow up Penn State fans. I've actually been like a Penn State fan, I've rooted for them all my life." Redd's latest highlights! Silas is scheduled to visit on March 27th for a special Jr. day.
"I didn't get my Penn State offer yet, but I'm going down in March and I'm expecting to get it there. If my unofficial goes well, I'm going to commit right there on the spot."
##RB- Braylon Heard(OH) 5'11" 180 (5.8)- Excellent Athlete! CB possibility as well. Must See Highlights Jr. Year Runs the 40-yard dash in between 4.38 and 4.48 seconds, as both have been reported, and was a starter at cornerback for Mooney during his sophomore season. He started at both running back and cornerback as a junior and could play either in college. “It doesn’t matter to me,” Heard said. “I think I could end up playing either position in college.” Heard said Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan State and Florida State are just some of the schools showing interest. He attended games this season at Penn State, Ohio State and Toledo. “I went to the Penn State-Illinois game,” Heard said. “I actually liked that one better than the Ohio State-Michigan game. They had a ‘white-out’ and the crowd was crazy. The field was really nice. That was the first time I’ve been to a game at Penn State.” But it probably won’t be the last. When asked to name his favorite schools, Heard said, “I like USC, but I haven’t heard from them. I like Penn State a lot. I like West Virginia too. Penn State and USC are my two favorites.” From Mooney in OH, the same school as Brandon Beachum and Mike Zordich. I didn't think PSU was in this good of shape with Heard, and I figured we were probably not as connected to Cardinal Mooney as I would have liked, but as you will see if you read this, PSU is a major player for these Mooney kids next year.
##RB- Corey Brown(PA) 5'11" 169 (5.8)- Should receive 4* consideration for sure. Being recruited by all the Big10. 4.47 forty. Teammate of Tom Savage..."I'm not really worried about it too much because I'm only a sophomore," said Brown. "I'm just going to let it go. I talk to Tom about it a lot. He just tells me to be smart about it. He also talks a lot about Rutgers. I like Rutgers a lot." PSU has already had him in for a Junior Day(as a Sophmore) and he has camped at PSU as well. So we are certainly being pro-active with him. Let's hope Tom's influence isnt too great in case the coaches have him at or near the top of our boards. Here are some sophmore highlights of Corey. People think Brown is the top player in PA for next year's class. Listen. This kid is coming off a major knee injury and seems kinda overrated. He is also a better fit at PSU as a WR than RB. A buddy of mine runs a comedy website and basically he'll repost any sports-related stuff I write just to increase his website's potential reader base. He posted a PSU recruiting update that I wrote and emailed to a couple people I know. I have already gotten 3 emails from people I dont know telling me how great Corey Brown is and how PSU is dumb for not chasing him harder. The kid is not a PSU RB and will be moved to WR. With them wanting him at WR, there are much better WR targets on the board. Do not get sucked into the Corey Brown hype. This kid has durability issues. He's a good player. But he's not going to be a RB at Penn State.
RB- Andre Givens(OH) 5'11" 180 (5.7)- Givens, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, is also on the Hubbard track team. He has run the 100-meter dash in 10.9 seconds and the 200 meters in 22.8 seconds. “My top five would be Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Illinois,” Givens said. He is also being recruited by Ohio St, Mich St., Boston College, and Oregon. ScoutingOhio.com Highlights.
RB- Erick Howard(OH) 5'10" 210 (5.9)-Word is that PSU is showing a lot of interest, however, it may be real difficult to pull him away from OSU. The good news is he is stressing academics over football right now.
HighlightsRB- Chris Smallwood(PA) 5'10" 192 (5.6)- From Upper Moreland High School in Willow Grove. Smallwood rushed for 1,119 yards on 177 carries and posted 11 TDs in 2007. Upper Moreland head football coach, Adam Beach, claims that Smallwood, who was an All-Suburban One performer his sophomore year, has 4.42 40-yard speed. Smallwood is being recruited for the Nittany Lions by Penn State assistant coach, Ron Vanderlinden, and it seems that in all likelihood Smallwood will be in attendance at the Penn State -Illinois football game on Sept.27. He was named second-team AP AAA all-state and first-team Southeast Pa. by the Philadelphia Inquirer. He rushed for more than 1,500 yards this past season.
RB- Leveon Bell(OH) 6'1" 215 (5.6) - Kid is getting some big schools showing interest but we will have to wait and see if that will translate into offers. One to watch maybe. Ohio has a few big time backs this year, so we will see where he stands among them. If he runs even close to the reported 4.5 listed, then with a little skill added, he would be a good prospect. He has nice, improving stats from Sophmore to Junior years. He is also an accomplished receiver it seems which is something we like in our backs tradionally. “The schools that are showing the most interest are probably Cincinnati, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and West Virginia,” Bell said. He likes the football, he likes the academics, and he is looking to make a camp.
RB- Brendon Felder(PA) 5'10" 170 (5.7)- Currently playing at Gateway, having transferred from his previous high school in Mass. Considered a BC lean for some time but has PSU and Pitt right up there as well. On Penn State and their gaining ground: "Since I've been up here, Penn State is getting higher and higher. From Gateway you hear about Penn State all the time with Justin King coming out of there and it's a great school, plus I have all my family up here. In Boston, I didn't have that much family."
RB- Spencer Ware(OH) 5'11" 202 (5.9)- To say this kid could be a special athlete is an understatement. He could project in a lot of Offensive positions for sure. QB, RB, and WR. Maybe some D possitions as well. Maybe will be one of the best and most sought after ATH's in the country next season. Have seen him in some Top50 projections and even in the 5* range for the gazers out there. Exploded onto the scene as a sophomore when he dominated the Greater Miami Conference by passing for 2,200 yards, rushing for nearly 1,000 yards and combining for 39 total touchdowns. It was more of the same for him in 2008, he completed 57 percent of his passes for 1,938 yards and 13 touchdowns. Ware also ran the ball for 741 yards and another 15 touchdowns. While he plays quarterback for Princeton, he’ll likely be a running back in college.
RB- Dillon Baxter(CA) 5'11" 187 (6.0) - Verbal Commit - USC
WR's (2-3)
##WR- Adrian Coxson(MD) 6'2" 186 (5.9)- Larry Johnson Sr. offered Coxson in early January. Another tidbit from BWI's Sean Fitz with this one, former Penn State wide receiver Bryant Johnson is a graduate of Baltimore City College High School, and the two know each other well. The two are supposed to train together this summer, and apparently it was Johnson that turned PSU on to Coxson. Jr. Year Highlights: He really uses his size well and has some agressiveness to his play. And though you cant really tell speed from film besides a good guess, he pulled away from guys when ahead and had some nice burst in traffic. He isnt slow. Some are beginning to think that Coxson may be an early verbal to PSU. but right now, wants to keep that level of interest a secret. He is scheduled to visit University Park on March 7th. That may be all she wrote if things go well. As Penn State fans we should certainly hope so. I think this kid is already committed. Since this paragraph was written, it has been leaked that PSU has a secret verbal and it's supposedly a WR.
##WR- Alex Kenney(PA) 6'0" 191 (5.8)- Nice size AND he runs a 4.35 forty. Interest in him? I would say yes.....All the Big10, FLA, UCLA, VA, and WF. He mentions liking the UCLA mail and VA as well, and about PSU he has this to say..."You can't really beat a school like Penn State," he said. "Growing up here, Penn State football is like mad nice. They've got all the facilities and everything is like that much better than every other schools. There's always people saying that "you could be the hometown hero if you went to Penn State." I'm not saying I'm going to go there, but there has been a lot of pressure to go there. The thing is, when you grow up somewhere, you kind of want to get away, at least a little bit, so there's going to be the deciding factor, whether I want to stay home or actually go somewhere." Looking good though mighty early. Coaches might still have to work it, though being in State College, they dont have to travel far. Should receive Top100 consideration. He may be more of an athlete/slot guy than a true WR but personally, Im ok with that!
As a sophomore Kenney totaled 1,000 yards of offense, averaging 7.3 yards-per-carry and 26.8 yards-per-catch. He also scored 11 total touchdowns. He was a third team Class AAAA all-state selection as an athlete. At the Pennsylvania state track and field championships on May 23-24, he finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.75 and fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.82 seconds. On Penn State (12/23/08)...“I’m definitely interested in Penn State,” Kenney said. “It’s right in my backyard. It’s a big football school and the education is definitely good. A lot of people here take Penn State for granted. But there are a lot of people that would die to go there.” And this as to his legitamacy as an athlete, “He is a good one,” State College coach Al Wolski said. “He gets more physical every year. He has good size. We will see if PSU shows the interest? He is a big time 3 sport athlete and we know how Joe likes his multiple sport athletes!! Scouting Report: Hunter is a tall, rangy wide receiver with excellent ball skills. He has good speed and can beat man-to-man coverage but his true strength is in winning jump ball battles with his leaping ability. He catches the ball at its highest point and adjusts to it well in the air. The 6-foot-4 and 180-pound Hunter runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, has excellent hands and a 42-inch vertical jump. Hunter is also one of the country’s top track athletes.
WR- Salath Williams(PA) 6'3" 175 (5.7)- Harrisburg area kid and maybe the best in the state at WR. More to come, rest assured! Here is some Highlight clips of Salath in achtion. He has received an offer from Pitt.
##WR- Kyle Prater(IL) 6'4" 200 (5.9)- Has reportedly been offered by Penn State or will be soon. "I was able to talk with Mike McQueary, who's the wide receiver coach at Penn State on the drive to Iowa on Sunday morning. I had a really good talk with him about Penn State. He mentioned that Penn State is going to be looking to sign three receivers in this next recruiting class and that they would be offering me soon and that I would be one of the receivers they would like to bring into the Class of 2010." He has a 'hot' name for the recruiting lists right now. Getting a lot of interest and offers coming his way currently. I'd be very surprised if PSU even has a snowball's chance, here.
##WR- Kenny Stills(CA) 6'2" 170 (5.8)- "I want to go back east and check out Penn St., Florida, Texas and schools like that," Stills said. "I have interest in playing for a big time school, and I want to go check out the schools and the lifestyle there. I'll play anywhere, my main thing is getting along with the coaches." Many think Stills might be the best player in San Diego, even if you include the 2009 class. Through six games this season, he had 40 receptions for 757 yards, good enough to lead all of San Diego. He also had big games against Orange County powers Mission Viejo and Santa Margarita. Stills has a great combination of size, speed and play-making ability. Find some Stills footage here at sandiegoballers.com. Stills participated the FBU camp in San Diego yesterday and took home the lone Most Outstanding Camper award (Maxwell Award). Dillon Baxter was at the event, to put it in perspective. His season totals for his Junior year were 64 catches for 1,250 yards and 18 touchdowns. I hope they are not chasing ghosts again. But from what I have gathered, this kid has legit interest in Penn State and PSU is in his top 2 with Stanford.
WR- Devontae Stamps(MD) 6'2" 175 (5.6)- 4.6 forty time as a soph. Same HS as A.J. Wallace and he should get some consideration as a Top player in the VA class for '10. Penn State is showing him little interest and his attention may be to the south anyway right now.
WR- Sharrard Harrington(DC) 6'1" 174 (5.7)- Reporting a 4.4 forty right now. He is planning to camp at PSU if he hasnt already. "Harrington is taking a hard look at four schools, though it's still very early in the recruiting process. He said his favorites at this point are Florida, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Rutgers." WR- Eric Williams(PA) 6'3" 192 (5.6)- From the NJ Ultimate100 Camp..." At wide receiver, the clear MVP award winner was Eric Williams from Fairless Hills (Pa.) Pennsbury. Williams is 6-3 and 192 pounds and ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash. He also had a vertical of 34 inches and made some amazing catches in the 7-on-7 tournament. He showed great body control, good strength and excellent hands."
WR- Andrew Carswell(PA) 6'4" 209 (5.6)- Plays with Paul Jones . Nice talent and possibly will want to play with Jones. One to watch. He is getting his own interest away from Jones as well....even from the South a bit with Duke and NC State already offering.
WR- Terrance Casper(NJ) 6'6" 197 (5.6)- Looks to have a ton of potential...Has drawn Calvin Johnson type comparisons from some. We will see where this one goes...

WR- Shakim Phillips(NJ) 6'2" 191 (5.6)- Phillips played in only four games as a sophomore due to a strained muscle in his lower back but he made the most of it. In those four games he had 22 catches for 386 yards and four touchdowns. He was a standout at the BigTime Showcase back in May as well. He should receive some big interest and he is definitely one to watch in the early going here. Some expect him to be the #1 player in NJ this year, but if so, then why hasnt Rutgers offered him yet? Makes you wonder.
TE's (1-2)
TE- C.J. Fiedorowicz(IL) 6'7" 240 (6.0)- Kid is what you call a National Recruit. Been offered by many from Arizona, to Illinois and Nd, to LSU. Bunch of others as well. Cant see why we couldnt get in the mix as well. Looking for an offense that throws to the TE a lot, uh oh.
He reports a 4.55 forty which would just be scary!! Lets see what happens. From Rivals 250 to Watch Eval: Arizona, Duke, Indiana, Iowa, LSU, Notre Dame, Wisconsin and others can’t be wrong. Fiedorowicz has been a household name in Illinois since he started in football, basketball and baseball. With his size and playmaking ability, he should be one of the top tight ends in the nation for next season. He could also be recruited in basketball.TE- Brian Volger(GA) 6'7" 236 (5.8)- Has offers early here from some SEC schools and MD. We will se if we hit up GA at all as there is a Bunch of talent down there next season. Enormous TE with even more upside, Vogler is the next great TE from the state (GA). Has very good and very soft hands. Concentrates well and can take a hit. Is a solid blocker, both at the LOS and down-field. Must gain weight to battle for a full season. Long-strider who covers ground quickly, he will develop better body control as he gains strength and physical maturity, thus adding change of direction to his skill set is the eval on him.
TE- Josh Lovell(VA) 6'5" 260 - Already has some offers early and has been being recruited by some big time programs. PSU is one of them showing interest. He has already been to a camp at PSU last year. More to come....
I really hope they have more than 3 kids on their actual target board for TE next season, because from what I can tell, we need 2. We MUST get 1.
OL's (3-4)
##OT- Seth Betancourt(PA) 6'6.5" 290 (5.9)- Teammate of Marc Arc. Maybe a better player already if reports are true from his coach. In addition to the Irish, Betancourt has heard quite a bit from Penn State and Rutgers. He plans to visit both of those schools this summer. From an interview conducted with him, speaking of Penn State..."Penn State completely blew me away. I love the tradition they got goin' on there. I love the facilities. And, I love JoePa, so it worked out." Very well spoken young man. He also had some nice things to say about ND and Rutgers. But after, ;). Speaks with Marc Arc a bit about PSU as well. Rivals.com: Scouting Report: Betancourt has a tremendous frame and looks like he can add plenty of weight. He has a strong punch in pass protection and moves his feet well. He shows solid balance for a young tackle and plays with good leverage in the running game. He has tremendous upside. The Seltz' Feelin': PSU in the drivers seat While Big Seth is willing to say he will look at anyone, anywhere, he will also follow that up with this: “I went to the Penn State-Michigan game. It was amazing. I had a great time. I don’t think it can get better than that. That was the first time I’ve been there.” I think PSU lands this kid.
OT- Seantrel Henderson(MN) 6'8" 301 (6.1)- Possibly a top 5 player in the country. Already holds an abundance of offers(verbal of course). One to watch. From Rivals.com: FIVE-STAR CANDIDATE: Henderson already is at a size that he can compete at in college. He is extremely mobile and runs better than almost every other lineman in the country ? in the junior and senior class. He also has excellent pad level and uses his hands at the point of attack. OT- Matt James(OH) 6'8" 280 (5.7)- One of the next big OL from OH. Should receive a ton of attention. OSU cant get them all, no reason not to go after the bigtime talents. James’ father played football at Cincinnati and it looks like the massive 6-foot-8, 280-pounder will have his pick of schools. James is 16 years old and wears a size 15 shoe. He said he reached the 6-foot mark in the seventh grade. His skills are finally catching up with his frame and he is expected to be even more dominating as a senior. Early OSU lean and Very possible early OSU commit....
OT- Robert Crisp(NC) 6'6" 302 (6.0)- With a 4.9 forty to promote a bit of athletism. "However, it was Crisp, all 6-foot-8 and 293 pounds of him, who took home the OL MVP award. The sophomore tackle has five-star potential and is one of the top underclassmen in the country. His footwork in drills was amazing for such a big, young player and he was dominant in the one-on-ones against a very strong group of defensive linemen." That OLine MVP Award came to him...and Xavier Nixon...yes, highly touted and highly recruited Xavier Nixon and Peter White as well were both in attendence. Needless to say, this kid will be HEAVILY recruited barring an early commit. Clemson may have the lead right now. Rivals.com: FIVE-STAR CANDIDATE: Crisp has impressive size and excellent feet for an offensive tackle. He’s advanced as a pass blocker, and his lateral ability is impressive. He uses his long arms well and gets to the second level effectively. His run blocking will be more effective as he gets his pad level lower.
OT- Miles Dieffenbach(PA) 6'5" 271 (5.6)- Only offer to date is Pitt. Rivals 250 to watch list. His dad is currently the tennis coach at sPitt. So they would have the early lead one would assume. However, he visited for the Indiana game and then is to come again the following week.... 2 visits in 2 weeks to the same school should certainly mean we are at least in it and making an impression. Says he has had a relationship with Bradley for a while as well. I think we have a real chance at this kid, despite his old man's ties to Pitt.
OT- Jake Kaufman(NJ) 6'8" 320 (5.7)- "My recruitment is going great," said Kaufman. "There are lots of big colleges showing me interest by inviting me to games and visits. The colleges showing me lots of interest are Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Ohio State, Penn State, Boise State, Rutgers, Florida, Boston College, Maryland, UCLA, Oregon, TCU, Virginia, and North Carolina State." He hasnt really done much in the way of visiting to date as he is pretty dedicated to his team and state title possibilities. One to watch maybe as it looks like he may be recruited pretty heavily. ##OT- James Hurst(IN) 6'5" 275 (5.7)- Regarded as the top player in Indiana for the class of 2010, Hurst is a big tackle that moves really well for his size. He’s also one of the strongest players in the Midwest with a 480-pound squat and a 325-pound bench press. Hurst also has the brains with a 4.135 grade point average and his list of early offers rivals anybody in the nation with teams like Michigan State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Purdue already offering.
##OG- Luke Graham(PA) 6'6" 270 (5.7)- We are most likely in the lead here as I believe his Pa went to Penn State. He has early offers from Illinois, Fla International, and Duke. Just offered by PSU and this one could be over very quick. Once he is on campus, it is pretty much a done deal. He has the great frame to add a lot of good weight. Very quick feet, very agile, and extremely aggressive. Early ranking of about 15 in all of PA. Named to the Fab22 team this past season. I really hope they land this kid.
##OT- Robbie Havenstein(MD) 6'7" 333 (5.7)- He attended 3 or 4 of PSU's game this year and I believe he's from the same high school in Maryland as Mike Lucian. He looks well put together in his pics from the visit. No offers to date it seems....so we'll see! Sean Fitz of BWI said that he is a big, aggressive kid who plays with a mean streak. He's pretty athletic, too. From watching his film, he is a bully on the run and very solid and athletic dropping back to pass. Also, he is very aware when he gets to the second level and seems to make some good decisions(seems to have a nice football intelligence to go with his athletism). Him too.
OT- Mark Shuman(VA) 6'6" 270 (5.9)- Kid is already wowing people and says he is open to everyone. Seems to have a strong liking to Tennessee early(knows a kid that is there already). Dont know if we will go after him, but one to watch. His brother currently plays at VT. Shuman is the son of Fork Union Military post-graduate head coach John Shuman and the younger brother of Virginia Tech offensive lineman Ryan Shuman. He is considered one of the best lineman prospects on the east coast for the class of 2010 and is a natural leader and hard worker.

##DL/TE- Kyle Baublitz(PA) 6'5" 244 (5.8)- From Rivals.com: Baublitz is one of the best two-way players in the state of Pennsylvania for 2010. As a freshman he was named all-county at middle linebacker and as a sophomore he was named all-county at middle linebacker and at tight end. He projects as a tight end, defensive end or defensive tackle at the next level. From BWI board members who have seen him play, he just makes his presence known on the field. Seems he is destined for TE, but as mentioned above, he has D1 capabilities both ways. Personally see him on the Defensive Side, but we will see what the staff thinks here. On Penn State: “I went to the Penn State-Indiana game and the Penn State-Michigan game,” Baublitz said. “It was really neat. The atmosphere was awesome. The fans were great. I talked to Larry Johnson. Now coach (Mike) McQueary is recruiting me.” He's a D-line kid in college all the way.
DT/OG- Dequan Jones(NY) 6'4" 302 (5.7)- Scouting Report: Jones is a big offensive guard with light feet and impressive agility. He plays with good leverage and is especially adept at pulling and getting to the second level. Jones is also a physical prospect who is advanced in pass protection for a young prospect. DaQuan Jones had 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 steals last night to lead his basketball team to victory(12/23). The best part was when he got switched out on the other team's best player, a 5'9" guard, and the kid tried to go by him and couldn't. Then he tried to pull from deep and got his shot punched halfway down the other end of the court where DaQuan's teammate scooped it up and made a layup. The guard figured he could take the big guy easy, but I guess he doesn't understand the athleticism this kid has. On a BC article the quote from Dequan is, "They're(BC) my second choice right now. My dad and I were talking about Penn State. We want to go to some camps and see if they would be interested in me. They're at the top for me right now." Surprised more schools arent on this kid yet.
OL/DL- Jordan Kain(NJ) 6'5" 285 - Another perfect student-athlete. Kain, despite the fact that he missed nearly half the season in 2008 with a series of nagging leg injuries, is considered to be the best offensive or defensive line prospect in south Jersey for the class of 2010. He has 5.0 40-yard speed, an 82-inch wingspan and will be recruited by schools across the country because he's the perfect student-athlete, holding a 3.5 GPA in honors courses. Penn State is certain to offer Kain and Kingsway Tony Barchuk indicated to BWI that Vanderlinden has already been in the school to fully check out Kain and obtain his junior film. You name the school among the top 25 teams in the country, and they've already contacted Barchuk about Kain. Besides Penn State, Big East teams, ACC teams and most Big Ten teams, plus national champion Florida, are showing big interest in Kain.
##LB/RB/FB- Zack Zwinak(MD) 6'2" 240 (5.8)- Claiming an early PSU offer on his profile. Will wait for the Sean Fitz confirmation. From Washingtonpost.com: The Lancers are a physical team, relying on a multitalented rushing attack. Junior Zack Zwinak (6-2, 240) is a bruiser, having rushed for 1,270 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 11.1 yards per carry. He has the speed to outrun smaller defenders and the brawn to push other would-be tacklers aside. He has officially received his Virgina Tech offer. His dad played for VTech. Could only be a matter of time before he 'cashes in' on that one.
##DT/OG- Sharriff Floyd(PA) 6'4" 300 (5.8)- Penn State has been recruiting him since he was a sophmore in HS. We will see if he recieves an offer or not. At the U.S. Army National Combine, Shariff showed his stuff. He was considered the best DT there. To put it in perspective, Nick Acree was also there, and Nick is regarded by most services as top of the line as far as Defensive Tackles goes.
##LB/DE/TE- Sherard Cadogan(NJ) 6'3" 230 (5.7)- Cadogan is rated by many as the best prospect in South Jersey for the senior prep class of 2010. He is what you would classify as the perfect student-athlete. He's reported to have 4.55 speed and his played the past two years on offense and defense has earned him both all-south Jersey recognition by the Camden Courier Post on both sides of the football. In 2008, Cadogan was credited with close to 100 tackles, 30 tackles for loss and 14 sacks, giving him 26 sacks in two years. On offense, in 2008, he had 35 receptions for 481 yards and five touchdowns. He has already received three D1 written offers from Rutgers, Stanford, and has been notified by Penn State that a written scholarship offer will be coming the day after Signing Day (Feb. 4). Academically, Cadogan carries a 3.91 GPA in honors courses. BWI hasn't verified this yet, but we've been told that he is related to both Gerald and Nate Cadogan. 4* possibility.

#DT- Denzel McCoy(GA) 6'4" 275 (5.9)- Already reporting a verbal PSU offer on his profile. Memphis and Alabama as well. Alabama is in his top four along with Clemson, North Carolina and Georgia. Alabama is right at the top for Denzel. It is very early in the recruiting process for him, but you never know when a decision may come. I think he is going to take his time and study his options." From his coach. "After Alabama, I also like Clemson, Penn State, Georgia, and Maryland. Those would be my top five schools. I just want to see how things go this season and who offers me." That would put us in his early top 5, and considering he has about 25+ offers, that is a pretty good start. We will see how serious the interest is....
##DE- Dakota Royer(PA) 6'3" 222 (5.9)- Kid is good! Period. From the Ultimate100 camp..."Royer was virtually unstoppable during the linemen one-on-ones. Although some of his offensive opponents may have had a size advantage, none had an answer for Royer. He used tremendous quickness and sound technique to constantly blast his way past the linemen. The defensive end already has an impressive, chiseled frame standing 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 222 pounds. Most college coaches are handed the task of putting some bulk on incoming freshmen, although that shouldn't be a problem for the already powerful Royer. He has been receiving interest from Florida, Pitt, Penn State and UConn. Royer will definitely be one to watch in the future." Royer had 107 tackles with an impressive 31 for a loss as a sophomore. He also had 12 sacks and two fumble recoveries. He was a two-time standout at the Schuman Underclassmen Combines, winning the most one-on-ones at the Ultimate100 this past summer. Junior Must See Highlights for Dakota. Is a big PSU fan but is taking his time with recruiting.
DT- Terrance Bourne(DE) 6'1" 312 (5.6)-PSU interest one way or the other or both. He won the OLine MVP as well at the most recent Ultimate100 camp in NJ. Kid could be another highly sought after DE recruit. Ran a 4.8 forty at a recent summer combine!!! Wow! He is already standing 6', and he just turned 16 this past summer. Lots of potential here!!
##DE- Ego Ferguson Jr.(MD) 6'4" 270 (6.1)-Oh what LJ could do with this young man. Will be heavily recruited most likely and may be one of the best at his position as Strong side DE. Lots of interest early here. This from a recent article..."The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder has exploded on the scene with early offers from Maryland, Tennessee, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Clemson, South Carolina and Illinois. Ferguson had 18 sacks as a junior and hasn't even begun to narrow down his list of favorites as offers continue to come in. Other than Crisp, Ferguson could have the most letters waiting for him when he gets home from school on Sept. 1 from the Atlantic East region." From Rivals.com: FIVE-STAR CANDIDATE: Ferguson has excellent size and rare agility for a big man. He is long and rangy and has superb closing speed. DT- Derrick Marks(MD) 6'1" 275 - Teammate of current Penn State players Derrick Thomas and Stephon Morris. Here are his Junior Highlights. He says his goal is to come to PSU, as he is good friends with both Stephon Morris and Derrick Thomas.
DT- Evan Hailes(VA) 6'2" 320 (5.8)- Someone on the board here had some very nice things to say about him that has seen him play and it would be great to hear those things again so I can add them here. Continually mentioned as a player to watch for the 2010 class at every camp he attends! Should be a top 10 player for the VA class of '10. Hailes is a massive defensive tackle prospect who can play in a 4-3 or as a nose in a 3-4 defense in college. He plays with good leverage and is quick for his size. He’s especially stout against the run but can also get a push up the middle on passing downs. The southern teams seem to hold his interest most at the moment.
##DE- C.J. Olaniyan(MI) 6'3" 230 - Claiming a Penn State offer....
DE- Darryl Baldwin(OH) 6'6" 240 (5.7)- Baldwin has an offer list that rivals anybody else in the Midwest with powers like Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia already on board. Baldwin is built like few others with a great 6-6, 240-pound frame. OSU cant take them all.....but will prolly get this one.
DT- Dante Weaver(NJ) 6'3" 320 (5.7)- Scouting Report: Weaver could play defensive tackle or offensive guard at the next level. He’s a very strong, aggressive player who overpowers opponents at the high school level. He has a strong burst off the line of scrimmage and a great bull rush from his defensive tackle position. His balance is exceptional for a big man.

DE- Dominique Easley(NY) 6'3" 255 (5.7)- Rutgers has already offered. PSU and BC are the other two he has some serious interest in here real early. He attended the PSU/MSU game and came away very impressed. Says he could certainly see himself playing there(PSU). More to come.....
DE- Ken Wilkens(PA) 6'4" 245 (5.7)- Not the fastest LB and may project better as a DE, some sites have him as such. Also more than capable at TE. Possible top250 type talent. Cousin of ND's Travis Thomas. His favorites seem to be PSU, Illinois and OSU right now. Also really likes FSU. He claims a verbal offer from PSU and says he feels an official offer may come soon. ##LB- Mike Hull(PA) 6'1" 216 (6.1)- May be a Top50 overall player in the country next year!!! Born and raise lovin PSU and a legacy. He is the son of former Penn State DE/LB Tom Hull. Hopefully that leads him to the right place...cough, cough-PSU!
- Special player and the next star from the WPIAL; Arguably the best LB on the field as a sophomore against Andrew Sweat and Mike Yanich. Legit 4.5 according to his coach and one hell of an athlete. LBU is calling Mike....Come aboard!!! Hull’s father and uncle played football for Penn State. He earned first team all-conference honors as a freshman and sophomore and totaled more than 200 tackles in each of his first two years. On offense, he rushed for more than 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore. Committed November of junior year. Penn State's first Class of 2010 pledge... 2008: Registered over 100 tackles. Rushed for more than 1,300 yards. Class AAAA first team all-state selection as a junior. 2007: Made more than 100 tackles. 2006: Recorded over 100 tackles... Verbal Commit-PSU(11/22/08)##OLB- Travis Williams(VA) 6'2" 189 (5.8)- Has a lot of offers already, and one from Linebacker U as well. And this year you know we are only offering studs. Will be visiting for the Mich St. game on Nov. 23('08) and we will hopefully know more about his interest(still early) after that game. Scouting Report: Williams is a rangy linebacker with long arms and excellent coverage ability. At the NIKE Camp at North Carolina this past spring he was one of the top underclassmen standouts and could end up as a big safety or a speedy outside linebacker at the next level.
OLB- Nick Forbes(MD) 6'1" 215 (5.8)- Forbes had a monster sophomore year on both sides of the football. On defense, where he projects in college, he had 99 tackles and 10 sacks. On offense he rushed for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns. Forbes is also a track standout as he was No. 1 in Maryland as a sophomore in the discus and No. 4 in the shotput. To top off his stats, he was a TJ co-captain, he possesses a 3.65 GPA in college prep courses. He won the prestigious Hugh O'Brien Youth Award, and is a member of the chess and Spanish clubs. 4* possibility. From what I have heard, this kid is amazing.
MLB- Chase Williams(VA) 6'3" 235 (5.6)- He visited for the PSU vs. MSU season finale. He has some real nice film. Nice size and good speed. Seems to be instinctive and flows to the ball. We will see if he likes PSU and vice versa. 2008: Registered 163 total tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, 11 pass breakups, six forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Caught 36 passes for 481 yards (13.4 average) and three touchdowns... Rushed for two touchdowns. Honorable mention all-state as a tight end... Honorable mention all-metro as a linebacker... First team all-league pick (offense and defense)... All-county first team defense... All-district selection. All-district pick. 2007: Recorded 117 total tackles and 22 tackles for loss. All-district and all-region selection...
MLB- Anthony Beard(TX) 6'2" 220 (5.6)- He states: "I like the way Penn State plays". The early interest, great or small, is there. Lets see where this goes. We have limited ships and the LB position is one place we can be Very selective with. Watching his film, he is a very aggressive and oft times punishing LB. I, for one, like my LB's that way. Lions have landed 2 pretty good recruits from TX the past 2 years, and I would really like to keep that streak going.
##ILB- Khairi Fortt(CT) 6'2" 220 (5.9)- The kid is good and will be one of the top linebacker prospects in the country next year and he has early offers from UConn, Boston College, Rutgers, North Carolina and Clemson so far. Scouting Report: Fortt is a big linebacker with very long arms and excellent lateral quickness. He’s very active, scrapes off blockers well and is effective in coverage due to his length. At the NIKE Camp at Penn State last spring he was one of the linebacker standouts in the one-on-one drills. "During the season I visited Rutgers, UConn, BC and Penn State," he said. "I don't have any favorites but the two best trips were to Penn State and BC. They were two exciting games and both of them had a lot of fan support. All the players were hyped, there were big crowds and I liked the energy."
LB- Kevin Pierre-Louis(CT) 6'1" 205 - Don't know why there's no write up on him, he goes to the same HS as RB Silas Redd and he is extremely interested in Penn State.
LB- Troy Gloster(MD) 5'11" 209 (5.7)- One to watch....Kid is good, more to come... 2008 Highlights
OLB- Jordan Hicks(OH) 6'2" 210 (5.9)- Sub 4.6 forty as well. Lists OSU, Tex, PSU, Fla, and USC as his schools of interest to date. His coach had this to say about him..."He doesn't turn 16 for another two weeks. He's a pretty special, special athlete. He's one of those kids that just gets everything really, really fast," said Cox. "He's one of the most intelligent players that I've ever had the opportunity to coach. You don't fluster him. In a big-time situation, you can't tell if it's a pressure play or just a first down play by his reaction. He just doesn't get flustered." From Rivals.com: His sophomore season saw him rack up 51 tackles, seven tackles for a loss and two sacks. He backed that up with a very solid junior campaign where he was seen on film in several games flying all over the field making big play after big play. He’s also got a nice early national offer list from teams like Florida, Illinois, Ohio State, Stanford and Texas.
#OLB/DE- Jamel Turner(OH) 6'3" 210 (6.0)- Verbal Commit-Ohio State

##CB- Tejay Johnson(NJ) 6'2" 190 (5.7)- Johnson may be the fastest recruit in all of South Jersey for the upcoming class of 2010. He has run a 10.62 100m and is reported by his high school coach Tony DeRosa as having 4.35 40-yard speed. Johnson played both running back and defensive back at Egg Harbor Township but DeRosa believes he'll play on defense at the college level at either FS or at the CB position to the wide side of the field. Reportedly, Rutgers, Penn State, and Maryland have verbally offered Johnson and Ohio State, Michigan State, Pitt, Maryland and a host of ACC and Big East schools, along with Florida, have a major interest in Johnson. Tejay put together his own film, when googled, his MySpace video comes up: He couldl be a 4* possibility as well. PSU needs to adopt a policy where they do not accept any corners under 6'0". Obviously with that being said, they should pursue Johnson and Allen with full force.
##DB/WR- Keenan Allen(NC) 6'2" 189 (6.0)- An excellent Athlete that PSU seems to be recruiting as a WR. Already holding a ton of verbal offers, including a PSU offer, he seems to be an Alabama lead early on here. We will have to wait to see what happens and if he visits at all to really gauge whether he has serious interest in PSU. Though he is almost certainly an Alabama lean, he held off on an early commitment to think things through and his coach had this to say: "Alabama, Clemson and Penn State are pretty much the three schools that he is looking at. At the end of the day, I just think he decided that there was no rush and to give it a little more time." While maybe unlikely that he would choose PSU, the hope is still there as of now.
CB- Colton Charles(PA) 5'11" 190 (5.7)- And he runs a 4.41 forty. From down in Harrisburg at Central Dauphin. He is not worried about Distance and the early schools he is interested in are OK, PSU, and Boise St. "Oklahoma is my school" he says. Likes the way they run the offense. Plays some RB and maybe sees himself there, though most services project him at CB currently. Though he shows that interest in Oklahoma, he is showing some strong interest in PSU as well. I would say OK leads with us close behind here early.
DB- Chad Hagan(PA) 6'1" 210 (5.5)- Palys on the same team as Penn State commit at LB Mike Hull. Very good athlete and says he runs a 4.4 forty though some 4.55 times have been listed. Either way the kid has some decent speed. He is a RB as well, so the kid has some skill and is versatile. Some quotes from his recent article from a local paper... “Penn State is my favorite school for sure,” Hagan said. “I really like the atmosphere at Penn State,” Hagan said. “Whenever I have been to a game there I have enjoyed every part of it. I like what Penn State is about. They are more about the team than the individual. I really like that.”
CB- Louis Young(MD) 6'1" 198 - Stanford Soft Verbal. Expecting a PSU offer possibly in the next few weeks.
CB- DeAndre Harris(OH) 5'11" 186 (5.7)- Runs a 4.56 time(as a soph so not bad). Visited for the Blue White game, or at least was supposed to. Early, very early...so we will see? He seems very aggressive on film, very physical.
CB- Cullen Christian(PA) 6'1" 185 (5.7)- “I have two (scholarship) offers: Michigan and Pitt,” Christian said. “And I have a lot of interest from Maryland, Penn State, Ohio State, West Virginia, Virginia, Oregon, UCLA, Rutgers, Syracuse, and I think there are a couple more I’m missing.” When asked which schools he is most interested in, Christian said, “Pitt, Michigan, Ohio State, Maryland and Penn State.” Here are some Highlights of 'Buc'. Michigan seems to be his current favorite and many a Michigan fan believe there is a possibility of him joining their class relatively early in the process here. Strange that this is the only kid listed who seems to be favoring Michigan. They lose that much pull already? I'm certainly not complaining.
DB- Ray Vinopal(OH) 5'10" 185 (5.7)- 4.45 forty as well. Kid is very talented and was being noticed even as a freshman on the camp scene. He is playing in Ohio, so Ohio State is in the picture. Cardinal Mooney's coaching staff has ties to LSU and Oklahoma, so they know of him. And the most recent is that he has some big interest in Penn State as well, and that big time LB 2010 verbal commit to the Lions, Mike Hull, has already been in contact with him to try to bring him across state lines into PA to join former teammates Brandon Beachum and Mike Zordich. This kid is one heck of an athlete overall and will remind one of a younger Anthony Scirrotto. Just does everything well. “I’d have to say the schools I get the most mail from would be Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Notre Dame,” Vinopal said. He is also hearing from Alabama, Illinois, and Mich St among others. “I’m getting recruited as an athlete,” Vinopal said. “I’ll fit in where I can. I think I could play safety or slot receiver, but hopefully it will be safety. I like defense.” While he wont come right out and say it, most feel he would have a real tough time turning down an offer from Paterno and Penn State. “I like Penn State a lot,” Vinopal said. “It’s a three hour drive from my house. I have buddies going there, Mike Zordich and Brandon Beachum. The facilities are top of the line. And they have a great fan base.” Some Ray 2007 Highlights. We need Vinopal.

DB- Sean Parker(CA) 6'0" 185 - Claiming a PSU offer.....
DB- Dontae Johnson(NJ) 6'3" 185 (5.6)- Should be a good one and is getting some early interest. the kid definitely has talent. We will see if PSU extends the offer to play for us.
DB- Mike Dorsey(OH) 6'2" 195 (5.6)- Showing early Penn State interest. We will see. He could be a good one. One to watch maybe...
CB- Dior Mathis(MI) 5'8" 160 (5.8)- Receiving some big early offers and even bigger teams showing interest as well. We will have to see if PSU throws its name in to the hat with the offer. It is too early to tell that yet. 4.37 forty listed is definitely something that will catch your attention I would say.
CB- William Jones(DE) 5'11" 160 (5.6)- Received an Honorable Mention from the Army All-American Junior camp. More to come....
CB- Lamarcus Joyner(FL) 5'9" 170 (5.9)- Besides his 4.34 forty time his measurables don't exactly stand out, but on film there isn't a better cornerback in the country. 'Mr. Frankenstein' is the definition of electric and one of the ten best players in the nation...this per a recruiting site. Some Joyner Film Not saying PSU will be in this one, just one I will be watching to see how he develops. Rivals agrees: Scouting Report: Joyner will be one of the nation's top rated cornerback prospects. He's physical and certainly plays bigger than 166 pounds. Joyner is an explosive hitter and he has all the intangibles to be an outstanding defensive back at the next level.
CB- Adrian White(TX) 6'0" 180 (5.9)- With his 4.41 forty as well The top DB in Texas and will challenge Joyner as the nation's best corner. White is so physical he could play safety, but with improved technique could become a Carlos Rogers level talent. He is one to watch in this class(yes, I like my CB's) but like Joyner may never even sniff PSU. Just could be fun to see who is the better CB according to the guru's here. White has seen his stock rise after a summer during which he blew up the camp circuits. As an underclassman he was named the MVP of Fort Worth Nike Camp and he had similarly impressive performances at multiple college camps. His early offer sheet reflects his offseason work.

##DB/WR- Brandon Ifill(PA) 6'0" 180 (5.8)- Runs a 4.57 listed forty and currently list PSU, Michigan, and Pitt as teams that have offered him early on. He is not a blazer, but he is fast enough. He runs very crisp routes and he catches almost anything thrown in his direction. He also showed some moxy and he never backed down from any challenge.
##RB/DB- Darnell Laws(NJ) 6'2" 220 (5.7)- Physically, Laws may be almost a carbon copy of Penn State early-enrollee and class of 2009 member, Gerald Hodges. Laws is a four-year varsity performer who has unbelievable cutback ability for a player of his size. He's reported to have 4.5 40-yard speed and he's projected by most, even though he's rushed for close to 1,500 yards on offense as the perfect strong safety prospect at the college level. It's amazing, but Laws, just like every other top prospect in south Jersey's class of 2010, is a quality student. He maintains a 3.1 GPA and has scored over 1400 on the SAT.
DB/WR- Jordan Thomas(NY) 6'2" 195 (5.6)- 4.45 forty. UNC is recruiting him as an offensive player and UConn is recruiting him as an athlete. He's also hearing from Michigan, Alabama, Penn State, and Syracuse, but the most right now from Rutgers, UConn, and UNC. He may quite possibly be the #1 player in New York for the class of 2010. He has the drive and determination to maybe compete for some early playing time in the correct situation.
CB/WR- J.T. Tartacoff(NJ) 6'0" 184 (5.7)- Runs a listed 4.42 forty time. Check that...a 4.39 now!! Plays a good bit of WR but was named the Most Complete Football Player @ the Ultimate100 camp. A top notch athlete it seems. Nice with the ball in his hands, and I am wondering if he wouldnt make a fine CB with his measurables....something we will have to wait and see on.
As you can see, traditional PSU recruiting areas of PA, MD, NJ are LOADED with top prospects for the 2010 class. Ohio is also pretty stacked. It's going to be very interesting.
