I think Cambria Heights stands no chance IMO. I know 1 player doesnt make a team but who do they have that can stick with Todd Thomas plus they got 2 kids around 6'6 and 6'7 if both enter the game vescovi can only guard one calling this one 86-64

Granted this game will be tougher for CH than the CC game, not too many people on BleacherCoaches were giving the Highlanders a chance in that game either. Beaver Falls seems very undisciplined -- run and gun. CH is certainly not undisciplined. Heights will control the tempo of the game on a court they're familiar with in front of a strong crowd. It should be a great game.

if they take control early and slow the game down it will be close. Heights need to keep it within 6 or 8 the whole game to give them a chance at the end. They have to rebound and give Beaver Falls no second chances! or they will not miss the second time around. Cambria Heights also needs to take care of the ball and eliminate the turnovers and make their shots. It will be a tough one no doubt.

Beaver Falls has athleticism that CH hasn't even come close to facing this year. Their players are not as skilled, but more athletic than Jordan Miller and Paul Weatherly. Remember: Todd Thomas is a major D1 football recruit, and could easily have played mid-major D1 basketball, if he chose to do so.
I hope CH played 5 on 10 all week in practice...
With that said, BFalls is sloppy, undisciplined, and shoots FTs poorly. IF Heights can get into their 1/2 court offense and run their offense beyond 5 passes, then BFalls loses interest and stops defending.
I'll take BFalls by 20.

I'll give CH a 20% -25% chance of winning.
They are patient. Getting down early doesn't frustrate them. They were down 14-5 against CC, and 11-0 against McCort in the LHAC championship.
Wouldn't be surprised to see them down by 10 -12 after the 1st quarter, then cut it to 6 or 8 at the half.
If they can keep it to within single digits in the 3rd qtr, then it's anyone's game.
Of course, they could listen to Titan and not even get on the bus.

WT you are being mighty nice!!!!!!
Beaver Falls wins by atleast by 25 Points, Probobly could win by more but will pull starters for the 4th quarter. Vescovi is held under double digits points, and gets alittle taste of whats its like to play at the next level.
This should give him motivation to hit the weights, and play AAU this summer.

Truth!
Where ya been? I was worried sick about you.
After your Vescovi-bashing in the preseason, I can't imagine why you disappeared for three months in the Heights topics and then showed up again just before the Beaver Falls game. Nice touch!

Vescovi had a really good year. The kid is solid.
I still dont think he could play at a D2 school. Go watch UPJ play, and then watch him play and tell me what you think "Honestly".
The good thing is he has another year to work on his game, if you personally talk to him, please incourage him to hit the weights and play as much basketball, outside this area as possible.
Just look at Jordan Miller, he didnt play AAU his last summer and St Francis Changed coaches, told him he wouldnt play, and now he is going to UPJ. To be honest his dad called coached RUK and asked if they thought about recruiting him, UPJ wasnt even on the kid.
Now Jordan MIller had a wonderful year and had alot of buzz around him and he is going to UPJ and is going to Red Shirt his first year. Do you think Vescovi is as good as Jordan Miller, or even do you think he will have a better season than JM had this year.......Not as he stands right now, I wish Vescovi the best I'm just being honest.
P.S Please tell him to play AAU outside this area if he has a chance to get on a team it will do wonders for his game.

I'd like to say Heights has a chance..but i just dont see it...athletisicm will kill them. CH will surprise BF with their ability to shoot but eventually the athletes will just take over.
Vescovi is a pretty good player....But a 6"8 player should not be held to 9 points by 6"0 Freeman and 5"8 Schrey. Hes not very demanding with the ball. And CH runs their whole O through him...He brings the ball up due to their lack of a PG and when hes in the post he kicks it out to all of their shooters...If Beaver Falls has a kid that can just flat out shut him down like we did it could get ugly for them.
Wish Heights the best of luck....they'll need it.

Truth22:
Good post. Truce.
I personally agree with a lot of the things you're saying. He needs to get stronger. He needs to develop some offense facing the basket and he needs to expose himself to better competition. However, I don't think you're giving him quite enough credit on where he's at now. He is a dominant player at "this" level, which is Laurel Highlands/D6-AA. And I can tell you that he is getting small D-1 interest. We'll wait and see whether "interest" turns into anything.
Crimson09Crazy:
Also, a good post.
You guys were the first team to try the "double Vescovi with two small kids" defense(really it started late in the first half of the game in Patton when you switched Schrey on him) and it definitely worked in the LHAC title game, but not just because it slowed Vescovi down, but because Heights couldn't take advantage of what the defense gives you. That said, every team CH has played since then has tried that defense and each team has lost as Vescovi's gotten better at handling it. But there is NO DOUBT that Heights can't win tomorrow if they're relying on Vescovi to break the press, score 25 and hold his own defensively against those big guys Beaver Falls has inside. They need the kind of team effort they got when they beat Somerset or Johnstown, they need to hit about 10 or 12 3s and they need BF to have a bad day. Just my opinion.
