PSU in the Rivals 100 / 250
Posted: March 13th, 2009, 1:31 am
Rivals released their Top 100 and Top 250. Per the Rivals southern bias and anti-PSU bias (PSU does not "cooperate" with the higher-ups at Rivals) it looks once again like the Nits are not chasing quality talent. Make your own judgment. I've seen film on just about every kid in the Top 100 and I have no idea what the hell some of these experts are seeing that I am not. Scout.com and Rivals.com continue to have very different opinions on kids, evidenced by Rivals giving PSU as something like the 25th ranked class and Scout giving them about 9th. Here are the the kids in the Rivals Top 250 that have PSU offers.
8. OL James Hurst
15. DL J.R. Ferguson
16. LB Jordan Hicks
18. WR Kyle Prater
22. LB Khairi Fortt
32. DE Jamel Turner
40. OL Brent Benedict
41. ATH Keenan Allen
49. Saf. Sean Parker
69. RB Corey Brown
82. DT Sharrif Floyd
88. QB Paul Jones
110. RB Silas Redd
117. DE Kyle Baublitz
119. WR Justin Hunter
132. OL Matt James
150. ATH Travis Williams
157. WR Kenny Stills
158. WR Adrian Coxson
162. OL/DL A.J. Cann
167. LB Mike Hull
168. DL Denzel McCoy
182. DE Dakota Royer
188. DL Nick Acree
192. ATH Braylon Heard
209. ATH Zach Zwinak
215. TE Blake Barker
Here's the kids who are not in the Top 250 that also have PSU offers:
Anthony Gonzalez
Luke Graham
Seth Betancourt
Rob Havenstein
Kevin Haplea
Justin Henderson
C.J. Olaniyan
Jewone Snow
Brandon Ifill
Alex Kenney
Like Mark Arcidacono before him, Seth Betancourt got zero love from Rivals despite huge offers to places like Florida. What a joke. This is why I give you my own 2 cents instead of just copying and pasting the stuff on Rivals. This recruiting stuff is completely objective, their opinion of a kid is no better than mine or yours. That is why I look at the kids offers list and go more by that than I do by what some dickweed behind a computer has to say. I should say, what some dickweed besides myself has to say. If a kid gets offered by Florida and Notre Dame, you don't rank him a 2 star player. He's atleast a 4 star, in my opinion, if schools with limited scholarships are offering him one of those scholarships. There's a guy in the Lion's Den who breaks down tons and tons of film on his own because he is obsessed with recruiting, and he has my complete faith and respect b/c of how much great insight and info he has, posted this regarding the Rivals Top 100:
Kids who didn't make the top 100:
CB Demar Dorsey (who is top 3 probably in Fla)
LB Justin Macklin (may be the best player in Tenn)
WR Jeremy Richardson(one of the best in AL, and better than guys in the 100 from AL)
OL Juwaun James (may be the best player in GA)
WR Shakim Phillips (not offered by in-state Rutgers but is #33?)
I think WR Dijaun Lewis could be replaced by about 15-20 guys I could name, at WR alone, that would be better.
ATH Dietrich Riley is another Cali guy I thought would make it.

Based on rep is how the majority of these kids made the list.
Undersized (the Mike Farrell excuse on why Mike Hull was not in the top 100) would be the most ignorant defense of all, they used it with like 4 other guys the same size or smaller on the list.
He was injured, yet played, and dominated, and was All-State.
Jones film came on the Rivals internet network yesterday. If they only have film when we get to see their version of the film. Then every single one of us does have the ability to see all they do....Im sure you see my point.
If it took them till now to get Jones film, and they admit to seeing little of Hull, the two best in PA arguably......then who are they actually looking at???????????
Really makes you wonder.
Having stated how lackluster the efforts of Rivals in this early edition are...I agree that it doesnt matter how they are ranked by Rivals. They are two Top of the Line prospects that will equal any QB/LB punch anyone in the country can recruit.
But defending the Rivals effort here{headshake}, what the hell are the doing on a recruiting service if they dont have film of the best in-state talent?????????

That being said, how is it possible that Mike Farrell claims to have not seen much film on Paul Jones and I saw film on Jones in the Lions Den months ago?
Like I said, it's all objective. THAT is why I always work in my own theories and observations when I post this stuff.
