Top LHAC/Westpac teams for 09-10 season
And any key players who will be leading their teams to victories this year? Thoughts or comments?
Re: Top LHAC/Westpac teams for 09-10 season
The top North Westpac teams i think are CV, Ferndale and Portage. CV, because they are not losing one starting senior. They are going to be a all around solid team. Portage is also going to have a strong team lead by Andrew Maul not losing any seniors also. Ferndale starting 5 are returning and we also have a strong 6 or 7 th man off the bench that will be a senior.
As for the south Shanksville will have a good team and so will Berlin. Berlin will be lead by Alex Will and there other 4 starters who all are comming back averaged about 10 pts a game.

Johnstown will be the top team in the LHAC. WH, CH, BM, and FH will all be good..

On a serious note, i think WESTMONT and Johnstown will be forces to be reckoned with.
Westmont:
1guard - Mike Rudnac (ton of heart)
2guard - John Valcheff (obviously athletic)
3 - Zach Drennen (extremely intense and shoots lights out)
4 - not sure here
5 - Kyle Hopkins/ Michael Young (both are hard workers and play balls to the wall)
if Westy gets a decent coach, they should be set

If Bill Dill is the best player in LHAC or even in the top 5 best players in the LHAC
Then it is true this area is really the worse area for boy basketball in the state.
Bill Dill might have not been top 5 players in 9th grade this year!!!!!!!!!

It will be interesting to see how the Hilltoppers do this season. There was a lot of talk on the hill about this great JV team they had...but that's exactly what it is, a JV team. I don't know if Westmont is going to have enough varsity experience to make a smooth transition into the faster pace of the game. Drennen and Valcheff started to get some time towards the middle of the season, but it always seemed like they were subbed interchanigbly, one only going in when the other came out. Rudnac started to get some time towards the later part of the season, but really hasn't had the chance to prove himself in a big game. The one with the most varsity experience was Rievel, and he quit due to lack of playing time. Westmont has a bit of talent next year but, as we saw the season after they went 29-1, after a team was based around mostly seniors the year before, it's tough to come back the next year with lack of experience.
