Lions snag commit 11.

Nits grabbed their 11th commit of the 2010 class tonight when they snagged WR Levi Norwood. Norwood grew up in State College but moved to Waco, TX when Brian Norwood left the PSU coaching staff to take over the defensive coordinator duties at Baylor. Norwood is listed on Scout at 6'2" 170, and did not have any other offers except Penn State. The only schools he was even considering were Baylor and PSU, for obvious reasons.
This gives the Nittany Lions 2 WRs in this incoming class, and may have closed the door on CA WR Kenny Stills, who seems to be stumping for offers elsewhere. A lot of people frown on "wasted scholarships" like legacies who are not highly touted, but in Norwood's defense, he had an excellent showing at the senior camp last weekend in State College, and they obviously liked him. Both Rivals and Scout have both commented on his impressive showing. There are NOT many spots availible in this class, so I trust the judgement of the coaching staff. Mike Zordich's younger brother Alex is a senior this year in Ohio, and I kinda figured PSU would end up with him or Norwood. They took the right one.
As for the scholarship he will be using, he might not be. This might end up as a greyshirt, where he does not affect the 2010 scholarship count. If that's true, we really got something for nothing. His brother was a 2-star DB when he was recruited, and ended up as one of the most productive WRs in PSU history.
I'm a little concerned because of his offer list, but there's a good possibility he's not even going to be using a scholarship.
I think that Alex Kenney makes his decision after his upcoming visits to UNC and Wake, and I think he's gonna be a Nit. That will close the WR recruiting for 2010, and those 3 would be a great haul. I can't stress enough how much firepower we have in the last 2 classes at WR and Slot. Should be interesting.
