Scrimmages---week 1, who plays who and where?
Thanks in advance...
Are there any games tomorrow afternoon/evening instead of in the morning?

FH vs BM was typical of what these teams usually look like. FH seemed a lot tougher and BM seemed a lot more skilled.. FH came out on top but it was pretty even.

WH vs CH, is was even. Westmont caused a turnover, had multiple sacks. Good Run D, Line. They can do some suprising things. Heights QB did well.
Re: Scrimmages---week 1, who plays who and where?
NB scored 4 times (1 each possession) vs. none for Ferndale. Ferndale played a spread offense with a 4-4 defense. NB's Risbon connected on a lot of big passing plays throughout the day. NB has a lot of skill guys and Ferndale made them work hard to find anything in the run game. Dillon Troutman had 2 interceptions for the Panther defense. NB has a lot of youth with only a couple of seniors. Juniors will be the key to their success. Do the juniors play more like sophomores or seniors??? When that question gets answered we'll see just how good NB will be.

Re: Scrimmages---week 1, who plays who and where?
I saw the Heights/Hilltoppers scrimmage
I agree with crushers that it was pretty even, although if you had to pick a winner I'd go with heights since they outscrored Westmont 3-1 (Westmont did kick a field goal though if I wasn't mistaken)
There were things I liked and didnt like with both teams
Westmont
Good:
Run D
Pretty good pass blocking
Good run offense
A few nice pass plays (all were either waggle or a bubble screen, they ran 1 slant)
Bad:
Extremely soft pass defense (Vescovi threw 3 TD's, 2 long balls and a fade in the endzone)
Run offense (except for the 1st play where they got about a 50-60 yard TD, very nice 8) )
Cambria Heights
Good:
Inside Run Defense
Screens
Passing offense
Inside Linebacker/Safetys/Defensive Ends
Bad:
Outside run d
Running game (Nothing past 8 yards all day if I wasn't mistaken)
Pass protection (Not extremely bad but the one guard seemed to be away from pass rushers)
Ball Handling (2 fumbles, 1 lost?)
I thought that besides JV it was a very competetive scrimmage both ways.
Also if someone could help me out, I'm trying to find the names of the starting offensive line for Heights. I know Ingraham, Olsalvsky(spelling?), and Bishop, but I dont know who the left tackle and center are as I'm 99% sure Gause graduated....

Re: Scrimmages---week 1, who plays who and where?
I want to say that the Center for Heights Is Bradden Whited? I think thats it.
This was a pretty exciting scrimmage, i cant wait to see these guys play in week 10 but thats a long way off.
Heights
Heights D much Improved! They are making tackles and seem to be stronger upfront. They have some big boys that can cause some damage. Vescovi showed his experience and made good reads. He threw 2 of his 3 touchdowns to Brawley (sp?) deep down field and showed he was comfortable back in the pocket for most of the morning. Strong arm!
Westmont
These guys will improve through the year. They have what it takes to win games. I like their run game. They busted a nice run first play of the scrimmage for a touchdown. The younger guys need some experience and will be good once they get it. The backs out of the back field showed real good hands with the waggles and boots. that seems to be their most popular pass.
Good luck to both teams!

Berlin looked good against Laurel Valley not sure if Berlin was that good or Laurel Valley is down this year. Berlin did anything they wanted on offense run inside, outside, and looked very good in the passing game. Everett should be a good test this week before the opener at North Star.

Yeah they did look really good. On cbs last night they said Laurel was suppose to be decent this year. Who knows how acturate they are though. Running game was stout with Sayler and Stockwell (Had one starter out on the line). The passing game will be key this year, if they can get Alex Will the ball no one around here can defend him (Incredible hands for 6'6).lets go pitt wrote:Berlin looked good against Laurel Valley not sure if Berlin was that good or Laurel Valley is down this year. Re: Scrimmages---week 1, who plays who and where?
I saw Penns Manor, Blacklick and Juniata Valley tri-scrimmage.
Penns Manor looked pretty good. Spread receivers wide and like to throw. They scored on BV once and on JV two times. Receivers are tough and go after the ball and run physical once they catch it.
Blacklick scored all three times they had the ball (Two in the air and one on the ground). Two against Penns Manor and one on Juniata Valley. Julock did not scrimmage but was on the sidelines out of uniform.
Juniata Valley looked like the weaker of the three teams. They do have some quickness and a strong back.
I heard Tyrone handled Bishop Carroll pretty easily but did not hear how Guilfoyle looked.
