Schools that don't play football?

On my way to Maryland recently I see a high school off of the highway not too far Breezwood, Southern Fulton...I had never heard of them in football...Of course I found out they don't play football...I don't think Fulton county plays football at all...I know some small programs have struggled to field "competitive" teams and one recently folded , Turkeyfoot...Does anyone know if the following had programs or why they never chose to have one? Some are really no smaller or even bigger than some other schools that have programs: Southern Fulton, Fannett Metal and McConnelsburg

Good question Ike. I wonder if it is because of their proximity to Western Maryland and it being more of a soccer area for youth? However, many small schools in that part of MD have football programs. Interesting.

According to my sources, there was football at McConnellsburg once upon a time way, way back. I'm guessing that means the 1930's or somewhere thereabouts.
Southern Fulton and McConnellsburg were in a coop with James Buchanan but JB recently dropped SF from that coop. The next two schools down the road from SF are Hancock and Clear Spring. They both have football squads.
There is some talk from time to time of all three schools forming a cooperative and playing but when, if ever, there will be action in that regard remains to be seen.

there was or still is a parent organization who has that goal in mind. they do have a youth league in the county. they don't know what they are missing.
