Games:

Berlin @ Chestnut Ridge
North Star @ Shade
Conemaugh Valley @ Meyersdale
Ferndale @ Rockwood
Portage @ Blacklick Valley
Conemaugh Township @ Windber

Predictions:
Berlin 34 Chestnut Ridge 13 (Sayler runs for over 150 and Riley throws for 2 touchdowns)
North Star 35 Shade 12 (Straisser will pass all over them and won't be able to stop Kuncher)
Meyersdale 55 Conemaugh Valley 6 (Meyersdale has another jv contest)
Rockwood 21 Ferndale 20 (Its a toss up, one of them will atleast get a win this year, however.
Portage 63 Blacklick 20 (Blacklick has no confidence heading into this game, 2nd best projected team in Westpac about to go to 0-2?)
Conemaugh Township 28 Windber 21 (Can Windber stop the passing game with their small corners? I don't think so)

If they are better than people think then Windber isn't as good as people think. From film Ridge doesn't look like they have that much.

Berlin 27 - Chestnut Ridge 21 One of two games worth seeing in the Westpac this week.
Shade 21 - North Star 14 The Panthers look better than the Pirates in this one. These guys deserve it.
Meyersdale 33 - Conemaugh Valley 6 I don't see this one going any other way.
Ferndale 13 - Rockwood 12 Giving Ferndale's kicker the edge because Rockwood soccer is so good.
Portage 4,037 - Blacklick Valley 0 I don't understand the BV hype, but I do understand the Portage hype.
Conemaugh Township 34 - Windber 28 Traditionally not a good outcome for CT but I think these boys have the momentum after embarrassing the Vikings in week 1. Windber takes a step backward in this game.

I went to see Township/Blacklick on Friday. BVs Worthington only carried the ball about a dozen times and left the game in the 1st quarter and returned sporadically until leaving for good in the third quarter. Apparently he cut his hand and it required several stitches. He kept leaving the game because of the bleeding. The tight end for Blacklick was also not dressed and on the sidelines with transfer Brenden Julock. This is not taking anything away from Township who has a solid squad with some talented skill players (Zaman, Bivens, Zambanini to name a few). It was 0-0 until 2:30 left in the half and then the walls fell in on Blacklick. Zaman is quick and runs hard and the fullback, Beyers?, is a good runner and excellent defensive player.

Brenden Julock was declared eligible at the District 6 meeting tonight and that should help BV but Portage has too much. Blacklick could start 0-2 but could I see them finishing up 6-3 or possibly 7-2. Township will have there hands full this week with Windber and then they have Portage and Ridge.

windber having small corners? how about a corner that held kevin weatherspoon to one catch? and as for windber not having much this year....... your definetely wrong on that statement.

What does that have to do with this year, honestly? Why bring up the past in a subject matter of this year! Your an airhead for bringing that up. Hello Clairton racked up 300 yards rushing why pass if you don't have to. Stop going onthe Windber bandwagon like there isn't already enough.

The only people who like Windber are the people in Windber. They are not going to be the team they think they are. I am thinking 6-3 or 5-4 record. They have some ponies, but are lacking the workhorses of last year. For them to do any better it's going to be Strapple and Ulasky connecting a lot more.

Windber has more confidence and tradition than anybody else in the westpac. A lot of teams are probably still really intimidated by Windber because they remember the drubbings year in and year out. They usually don't have the size, strength, or speed (not anymore anyway)to be a playoff contention team but they pull it off with discipline and confidence. They work hard, are well coached, and know how to win. It's that easy.
Dude, you guys really do not have the level of skill you had in the past but you still win without it. That is a fact.
Swap the Shade and Windber kids (if it were possible) and I think Windber still wins because they know how and they are expected to. And while we're talking about crazy things let's imagine combining all the westpac schools into a single A powerhouse with the sole purpose of beating BM every week. That way the public school hillbilly kids could have fun talking smack on the private schools and how weak the LHAC and WPIAL are. We would still give them trophies so they can feel just as special as us. We'll call it Shanksville-Berlin-Shade-Salisbury-Stony Creek-Brothersvalley-Central City-Elk Lick-Meyersdale-Turkeyfoot-North Star-Conemaugh Township-Windber-Ferndale Area High School and we'll send enough kids to Vo-Tech and work release to still be considered a single A school. Then we'll dedicate a whole forum to our school on bleachercoaches.com and we will degrade anybody who wants to talk about anything else. We'll win states every year and then our baseball team will scrimmage the Pirates at PNC park.

I'd like to change my prediction to Township 36 - Windber 35. Good luck.
