After several thousands of hours of research and collaboration with multiple Ouija Boards and this guy:
...I have determined Penn State has 3 remaining scholarships available.
That is also taking into account that some kids will not be returning next season. They may end up with 24 or 25.
The definite....
1.) DT Sharriff Floyd. 5-star from Philly.
- Floyd is very high on Penn State, South Carolina, and has a visit scheduled to Ohio State. He was high on Florida but I think we kinda pushed them out. Most say he'll stay pretty close to home.
They are also holding a spot for RB Marcus Lattimore. He is very high on South Carolina, and I doubt PSU lands him, but he has an official scheduled. Who knows.
They've got to go cornerback. The leader here is Shyquam Pulliam, a 3-star from Erie who has great size and speed. I want CBs who are a legit 6'0" at the very minimum. I cannot stand matching elfs against huge WRs. I want big CBs who are athletic and physical and are essentially WRs themselves. Pulliam seems to fit the bill, they need another CB, and he has a ton of interest in PSU and would commit on the spot. I am hoping that the staff isn't sitting on him as a fall-back for a better recruit, because there are none who seem to have a lot of PSU interest at this point. Offer the kid already.
Some think they will go OL for another kid, I am not so sure. I'd rather either hold the offer for 2011 or else use it on a defender you really like. Now, that being said, here's the leaders: 4-star DT Mike Thorton from GA has a lot of PSU interest and it cam eout of nowhere. They land him or Floyd (or both) and they will have the best DL class in the nation. Another DT is JUCO James Carmon from Mississippi, originally from Baltimore. Carmon is a 4-star and is 6'7" 370. He is a terror.
They will not get Lattimore, I think we can get Floyd/Thorton/Carmon or a combo of two. I personally think they should grab Pulliam and end the CB recruiting. They will take a hard look at this year's seniors who flew under the recruiting radar after the season, and there may be a spot for one of those kids.
My opinion, the final 3 are Floyd, Pulliam, and either Carmon/Thorton or a relative unknown.
