Saturday's Debacle...

...was proof positive of my retort everytime you guys act like Joe is just a figurehead that doesn't do anything. I have been telling you for years that this is 100% false and is a DETRIMENT to the program. Here's some quotes from today's chat w/ BWI Senior Editor Phil Grosz.
"Without naming anyone specific do you ever get the sense that any of the assistants ever get frustrated by JoePA's risk averse philosophy - especially when playing tough opponents."
Grosz: "Over the quarter century that I have been covering Penn State's football program, I can tell you for a fact that there have been many heated discussions between Paterno and members of his coaching staff about gameplanning and how things are run on game day. That's as far as I'll go."
Regarding a question about the secondary...
Grosz: "If you don't like the way Penn State's secondary has played this season, it's not the performance of the individual players. My problem has always been with Penn State's scheme and their lack of variety with their coverages in the secondary. They always play either a two or three-deep coverage and have their cornerbacks rarely uptight in press coverage. With today's spread offenses that exist and the high quality of skill performers on offense, I think that's a major mistake on Penn State's part. I don't personally blame Tom Bradley because I believe it's totally Joe Paterno's decision."
I bolded that because I have had the suspicion that this was becoming more of an issue w/ each passing season. Glad I am not the only person seeing this.
