What's that smell?

It's Penn State's football team!!!

Seriously, is there a worse d-1 starter than Drew Astorino? But he's a nice kid and he's white and keeps his grades up, so get used to his liability for the next 60 years.

Fans and media are getting louder every day. Phil Grosz of BWI is very select with his criticism of the staff but I guess today he just couldn't type w/o showing his emotion.

"I'm trying to say this as gently as possible, but I'm sure there's no question in anyone's mind that Penn State has the worst special teams unit in the conference and quite possibly one of the 10 worst in all of college football. The fact that Penn State lost two of three fumbles, had two passes intercepted, and allowed Indiana to complete so many passes for 298 yards and probably should have won the game 31-13, clearly illustrates how poorly coached and how poorly Penn State played in today's game."

Those are very harsh words from a guy who is very optimistic about the team and the direction there of. He never writes recaps like that.

Oh, and I agree completely. But you can add a few f-bombs in there and that would describe my own words.

Simply put, 11 games into the season, this team has regressed in all 3 areas of the game. The defense is playing poorly versus the pass but a lot of that is scheme. When I die, I am going to pull a piece of paper out of my pocket that has a few questions on it.

1. God, are there aliens? God: Yes.
2. Okay, did Oswald act alone? God: No, sir.
3. Okay, God, last one. You know everything, so just explain this one, okay? Why the hell does Joe Paterno run 10 yard cushions against teams who are very, very good in the short-passing game? God: I have absolutely no idea.

Seriously... what is going on here? Do they really have THAT little confidence in the CBs that they will not allow them to challenge the WRs? I have news for the staff... Lynn, Wallace, and Morris are NOT slow. They are NOT weak. Who exactly are they waiting to put in there at CB that CAN challenge the WRs? When teams do it to PSU, PSU gets destroyed!!! Today, I do not believe there were any sacks, but the front four had good penetration many times. You jam that WR and you allow another 2-3 seconds for the DL to operate, who, like I said, was doing fine!!! What the hell is going on here? Why do you allow a team who is very, very accurate in short-yardage to push it up and down the field against you?

Offensively... The Daryll Clark apologists all need to be executed. That kid has been staring at his primary receiver for 2 straight seasons. When the primary is covered, Clark gets rattled and panics. Number 2: At what point in QB development do they teach you to throw the ball into triple coverage? How many times is Clark going to do it? 50? 600? Seems like 600. Number 3: Who the hell is teaching this kid about accuracy? Have you ever seen a QB over-throw or under-throw wide-open players on a consistent basis? (Special Note: ZACK MILLS, ANTHONY MORELLI). DO YOU SEE A PROBLEM WITH PROGRESSIONS OF OUR QBS AS THEY AGE IN THE PROGRAM YET? I cannot for the life of me understand this stuff. I am ready to waive the white flag, I guess: Joe Paterno's brain is so complex that mere mortals apparently do not understand his Rosetta Stone of an intellect. What other explanation could there be?

Did anyone else notice how many players were wide open today? Clark sure as hell didn't. You know why? Because he never looked at any of them. In the real world, you and I would be fired at our jobs for failing to do the essential parts of our jobs. Jay is doing a hell of a job, just a hell of a job.

The special teams have become so bad it is hilarious. Seeing Jerome Hayes shotput that kick return was hilarious. Did you hear what I just said? The starting DE, who is coming off 2 serious knee injuries, returned a kickoff today. It's a Chinese fire drill out there. You can actually hear the Benny Hill music every time Astorino is within 25 yards of the football at any given time.

The Zuggernaut is hereby losing his moniker until he re-learns how to hold onto the football. This idiot won't even be a starter next season, with how well kids 2-3 years younger than him have looked. Congratulations, Grahamy.

The best player on ST is walk-on LB James Van Fleet. When in the hell should you EVER have to say, "Our ST are garbage but at least James Van Fleet is out there holdin' it down for us"?????

Being totally honest, there are times this team looks like the worst PSU team I have ever seen. That's the 3rd game in a row that the defense came out flat. That is COACHING. Did anyone see the look Bradley gave Joe today, then put his head down and walked away from him? Tom Bradley deserves an award for being able to hold his personal respect for Joe above the insanity that he knows goes on in Joe's brain on that sideline. Even Carrot Top brushed him aside.

I'm tellin' ya, folks, the boo-birds are about to migrate to State College and this time it won't take 2-3 dreadful seasons for everyone to scream for Daddy's head.
