I don't know, but Zip Zamboni invented the muddle huddle...

No offense to Coach Zamboni because he has done a terrific job with the Vikings but I am still going with Hugh Conrad on the introduction of the Muddle Huddle in the Valley of the Vikings.
I might be wrong but I think it was run first against Laurel Valley and Jerry Page and his Ram's Gang were left picking up their jocks. Way ahead of its time that type of trickery.
Boise State actually mimicks the BV Vikings of the 80's????

LOL, great story...Good ole' Hughie...The only thing is, the Muddle Huddle is usually messed up by some lineman who doesn't line up on the line of scrimmage causing a penalty...
Have you ever observed the Rosebud KO Return?

Believe it or not I witnessed it in Nanty Glo with Paul Shandor at the helm. If I am not mistaken is it the one where the player who catches the ball gets surrounded by the whole team, the ball is transfered, and they all shoot out in different directions.
If that is the play I also witnessed it where an opponent jumped right on top of the gang of players. Must of had a problem figuring out who to give it to.

That is correct! I have seen the bud go for several TDs over the years. The key to the play is that all 6 players who peel out of the huddle must have their hands in their stomachs as if they have the ball and should not look anywhere but straight ahead. YOu also need to make sure not to pass the ball forward in the huddle it would be an illegal forward pass, although that would be tough for an official to pick up...Actually, you should tell the official that you're running the play before you do it.

The muddlehuddle also has a pass, a throwback to the opposite side of the "huddle". Although this started out as a basketball forum post, I'm curious.....
WPIAL Titan, you seem to have some knowledge of Coach Shandor, Conrad, and Zamboni..... Not many people remember the Vikings when gadget plays were part of their normal offensive set. That was the early days of Paul Shandor's brief but very successful coaching days. What's the Viking connection?
