So the Hall announced their election results today, and Andre Dawson was elected.

Here are the results (Name - Votes - Percentage): To be elected required 405 votes.

Andre Dawson 420 77.9
Bert Blyleven 400 74.2
Roberto Alomar 397 73.7
Jack Morris 282 52.3
Barry Larkin 278 51.6
Lee Smith 255 47.3
Edgar Martinez 195 36.2
Tim Raines 164 30.4
Mark McGwire 128 23.7
Alan Trammell 121 22.4
Fred McGriff 116 21.5
Don Mattingly 87 16.1
Dave Parker 82 15.2
Dale Murphy 63 11.7
Harold Baines 33 6.1
Andres Galarraga 22 4.1
---------------------------------------------

I guess I don't have much of a problem with Dawson. I remember him playing and don't recall that much that was eventful about him. I guess the real question is: Does Mark McGwire ever get in? only 128 votes (even though 10 more than last year). I'm am a bit shocked that Dave Parker is still on the ballot....how long has he been retired?!?! Mattingly had a great career but probably played during the wrong period of time for the Yankees....

Personally, I think Larkin, Edgar Martinez, and the "Crime Dog" Fred McGriff should be in. When steroids were so prominent, these guys put up decent numbers and never really had any question about steroid use. Just my feelings, though.

The Crime Dog was one heck of a lefty back in the day....

Something I just wondered...has there ever been a year when no one was elected to the Hall?? Andre was elected by a VERY small vote.

With all the steroid questions, will anyone get voted in soon? If they're going to keep any player that has had steroid questions in his past, who are they going to vote in? There are very few players that are of Hall of Fame quality that haven't had questions raised about their steroid use. It's going to be interesting to see how the voters go about it.

I hate the HOF voting. Has Dawson done anything to improve his career over the past five years? Yet he got more and more votes each year. They are saying that Blyleven will probably get in next year. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, but how does he deserve it more next year.

Alomar should have gotten in.

Bagwell will be an interesting case. He piled-up his numbers during the steroid years, but I've never heard his name mentioned in the steroid talk.
