Is Lebron Afraid of Dunk Contest?

I dont follow the NBA that closely, but I do believe Lebron James is the best player I've seen since MJ, by far. LJ is always making sportscenters top 10 plays every night with a huge steal, breakaway and ridiculous dunk. If not that, he's sneaking up behind defenders to easily knock the ball into the 20th row of fans. He's definitely got the ups and the moves, and he said he would be in the dunk contest, but he's not on the participating list for the 2010 dunk contest this February. Why is it he wont participate? Nobody ever gets hurt in dunk contests, and its definitely a fan favorite. Is it the amount of pressure thats built on LJ for supposedly being able to blow everyone else out in the dunk contest in fear of losing? I dont get it. The only guy I really like to watch in the NBA, and he's letting me down by saying no. Man...

Ever heard of Kobe Bryant? He has four titles compared to Lebron's zero titles. He makes just as many great plays as LeBron, except Kobe takes the big shots at the end of the games unlike LeBron. If you decide who great players and teams are from Sportscenter, then you're always going to get a slanted view of things. They promote the players and teams that they are trying to sell. You are entitled to your own opinion on who is better LeBron or Kobe, but to say that LeBron is better by far has to be a joke. LeBron has a long way to catch up to Kobe Bryant. He has a lot longer way to go to catch up to Michael Jordan.

Also, the reason LeBron isn't going to be in the Dunk contest is because LeBron feels that he is "too good" for this type of competition.

Nothing against Kobe, I was actually going to mention him knowing somebody was going to bring him up being people cant just stick to the topic at hand. We arent talking titles here Deliverance, we are talking about dunking. I just feel Lebron would fair better in a dunk competition than Kobe, thats why I didnt bring him up. Im just gonna let this topic go now, we'll be well on our way to a Lebron vs. Kobe dispute which is completely unnecessary. Start a new topic if thats what you're looking for deliverance.

Must have missed the part in there where you said he's the best player "when it comes to dunking" since MJ. By the way, Kobe won a Slam Dunk Contest back in the day.

Maybe I should have been more clear on the title as well... Is LeBron afraid of NBA Titles?

He's not afraid. He just can't win them.

LeBron is a freakish athlete and would be great in the dunk contest. Other big names have participated, recently Dwight Howard. But recently, it has not included a lot of big name players. Kobe won way back in the day. Howard was not as big a name when he entered. Has Dwayne Wade ever entered? I think he would actually be better than LeBron. Unfortunately, the dunk contest has become too much of a side show for the best players.

As for the Kobe-LeBron argument, I think Kobe is a much better basketball player. LeBron is a freakish athlete with good basketball skills.

LeBron James is one of few players who has enough athletic ability to actually injure himself! that's why he didn't enter. I've seen LeBron with his entire head over the rim before, add that to his 260ish pound frame and him being worth hundreds of millions of dollars and you have a risk not worth taking. Let the man get a title and then he can worry about worthless dunk contests. As far as Kobe being better because 4 rings.. Kobe can't win without being surrounded by all stars. Shaq was the most dominant player in the NBA when the Lakers won.. Kobe was a side show. Then Kobe sells his teammates out and tries to leave town because they aren't good enough?? Now he has Gasol, Bynum, Odom, Artest, etc. and still goes 1 for 2 in the last 2 NBA finals.. Kobe may have a lot of heart.. but he also tears teams apart and pisses his teammates off. LeBron took a team to the NBA finals a few years ago that wouldn't of won 3 games all season without him. THAT's impressive.. not winning an NBA title with numerous all-stars on your team and the best coach in NBA history leading you. My honest opinion, neither are as good as Wade. Wade won an NBA championship very young with a deteriorating Shaq, and started down 0-2 in the finals. No player in the NBA today matches Wades intangibles.
