Why do we need the bashing on here? This site is geared towards keeping up with the talent in the area,not what conference is better and everybody else should bow down. Maybe the WestPac will never see a state champ,but the schools,coaches,and the athletes work hard each year to put a good product out on the field too compete. Thats called "School Pride." The fact to the matter is, athletes do get noticed in the WestPac conference and have been getting scholarships because of their hard work and play....Keep your heads up WESTPAC!!!!

No what's a joke is you making a post on here to just say that. When is the last time any school in this area has won a state championship? Tyrone 1999? Since 1988 that LHAC has the same amount of state championships as the Westpac does, 0.

So...scholarships are the basis on which one can rate how good or bad one's team or conference is??? More scholarships come from exposure to the media than anything else, references by the coaching staff coming in 2nd. Thus saying you can be the greatest athlete in the area, but without someone elses help, no one will know, and if colleges don't know you, they can't send recruiting information which later may become a scholarship...If it werent for wjac-6 and bleachercoaches, westpac exposure would be nil with the Portage exception of course...on the other hand LHAC gets exposure in all sports markets all TV channels, all newspapers, etc. so the easy answer to your question would undoubtably be the LHAC has many more scholarships, I believe you could have answered that question for yourself though...

I dont know if you are referring to my question, but above me BV alluded that the West Pac does indeed have players that earn scholarships, and I was wondering to whom he refers?

More scholarships are given based on TALENT---than anything else.

Exposure may come into play at some point--exposure being size of school and success of school.
(and the LHAC really gets no more of this than the WEST PAC) (D7 AAAA is a different story)

The logic may go something like; a guy that starts at a AAAA school alredy had to beat out numerous players to start---a guy that starts at "A" may have been the only choice.

If you are a D1 skill player at an "A" school your team should have some success, otherwise you are NOT a D1 skill player. 1 lineman may not be enough to make a bad team average.

There will always be more D1 players in AAA and AAAA because those schools have more kids, so those schools will get more exposure---it is a circle.

It is not imposible for a "A" player to go D1 it has been done--but the truth is there just aren't that many that are good enough.

With no disrespect to smaller schools, there are many kids starting at small schools that wouldn't see the field at AAAA schools, and many kids on the bench at AAAA schools who would be stars at "A" schools.

One area that "A" players may suffer is this scenerio: a 6-4 230lb athletic guy at a "A" school may not get as good as he could/would have at a big school--because he may have lacked the coaching but also probably lacked the competiton to force him to get better at practice and at games.

Your best bet is to get great grades and high SAT scores and that is when the money comes!
