Some of us caught the spring game for PSU, but how does Pitt look this season?

In my opinion, I think other than Ingram you have to include Lewis in the top 3-4 RBs in the nation. But what does Pitt's OL look like?

Is Stull done?

I was under the impression Baldwin declared for the draft, how do the WRs look?

What about Defense?

Stull is done got picked up by whoever has Palko. New QB is from Central seems to be an allright looking passer guess we shall see.

Baldwin did not declare.

Oline wise, I am really surprised they have not moved Mike Cruz inside to play tackle cause he is one big tightend.

About all I know for Pitt.

Okay Pitt preview...Throughout the Spring the Defense dominated the Offense. But the same thing happened last year, and the offense finally clicked and became one of the better offenses around.


QB- Tino Sunseri is the guy. no question about that. He has a strong arm and seems ready to be a leader. Also he adds a little running to his game, and won't take as many sacks as Stull did. The biggest knock on him is his size. He is listed at 6"2 but looks closer to 6'0. Pat Bostick is being groomed as a coach, his days as the QB of the future are long gone. Still managed to win big games despite limited talent. valuable asset on the bench with his knowledge of the offense.

RB-Dion Lewis is the #2 RB in the nation next to Ingram, IMO. He is a top notch talent and I don't think there will be a sophomore slump for him. And the coaches and writers seem to think Pitt's RB duo is among the best in the nation. Ray Graham was the more highly touted prospect, but Dion stole the show. He could have elected to transfer and start at a lot of programs. Wannstedt says he has "LeSean McCoy type athleticism" He showed with the big run against Notre Dame last year. Add in Henry Hynoski and this looks like a great backfield. Hynoski at 260 pounds is a bruising blocker and runner, with good hands that makes him a threat

WR- Baldwin is right up there with Julio Jones and Michael Floyd as the top Junior WR in the nation. Not sure why you thought he left? He's a beast and a projected top 15 pick next season. Opposite him is 6"5 sophomore Mike Shanahan. A former D1 Basketball prospect. He also displays great leaping ability and will make Tino's job a lot easier. Former JUCO transfer QB, Greg Cross impressed this spring. He is a good athlete. Also speedster Cam Saddler is going to see some time. He needs to get the ball in his hands. You should watch his Youtube HS highlights. Just burns everyone. Also we brought in 5-6 WR's in this year's recruiting class. Todd Thomas may get a chance.

TE- We lost a great pass catching and great blocking TE. But Pitt has a couple new guys that they think can be capable. The starter is Bishop McCort alumnus Mike Cruz. He is huge. 6"4 270 maybe. Good hands. The coaching staff is high on him. Backing him up is UVA transfer Andrew Devlin. Also a really big guy. 6"6. He is going to be on blocking sets. And Brock DeCicco will get some playing time.

OL- Pitt returns the two Tackles, Jason Pinkston and Lucas Nix. Both highly regarded recruits and they each had a very good season. I think they both can play on Sundays. The interior line is the biggest concern going into the fall. Pitt likes to run the ball and they need good linemen. at Center it is former walkon Alex Karabin. Hes there by defult, not much competition coming his way. At the guards is former 4 star recruit Chris Jacobsen. I'm not too worried about him, he pushed for a starting job till the last day of camp of last season. Opposite him is Greg Gaskins. He also isn't being pushed by anyone in particular. Pitt's key to success is this unit's play,


DL- Not afraid to say that this is the best set of DE's in the country. Greg Romeus is the reigning Defensive Player of the year in the conference and will be the gameplan of most Offenses Pitt plays this season. Freak athlete and, only in his 6th year of competitive football. NFL scouts gobble that up. Jabaal Sheard is also a 6"5 Pass rusher with pro potential. He was disruptive last season. Backing them are WPIAL standouts Brandon Lindsey and Shayne Hale. Both look good enough to start in my opinion. DT is a big loss. Williams and Mustakas were experienced, but I really like Myles Carragein. I think he is going to have a big year. Maybe true freshmen Aaron Donald will get a chance too.

LB- Pitt loses starting MLB Adam Gunn, but replaces him with a more talented player. Dan Mason is a beast. He is going to have a huge season. Wanny said he has the most ability of any LB he has had at Pitt. Better then Session,Blades, and McKillop. Thats saying something. Greg Williams and Max Gruder return at the outside positions. Gruder is a tackling machine, while Williams is a great athlete who had a knack for big plays. 2 TD's for WIlliams last season. This will be a good group for Pitt

CB- Pitt loses Aaron Berry and Jovani Chappel. Berry was the most overrated player on the team last year. I'm happy to see both guys go. Not that they have much to replace them with. Antwaun Reed from Johnstown High has locked up the one spot. He's pretty good, but did get beat up by Golden Tate and Michael Floyd last year. But earned most improved player in the spring. There is still a competition between 3 guys for the other spot. Juco transfer Saheed Imoru looks to be the guy. But Buddy Jackson and Ricky Gary still have a shot.

S- Both starters missed the spring, but I think we should be okay here. Dom Decicco is a big safety, better for run support then is pass coverage, but his speed did improve last season. The other Safety is Andrew Taglianetti. He missed almost all of last year, but the coaches think he is a very bright player, hence why he beat out the way more athletic, Elijah Field last year. And the backup to both spots is Jarred Holley. He got some playing time last season and did alright. He is a corner, naturally, and physically. Not a very big guy. But he gives good depth.


Special teams- Dan Hutchins will be Kicker and Punter. Nothing special, but does alright. Cam Saddler should see some returning duty, and Ray Graham is also looking to get reps there just to get him the ball any way possible.


With the talent this team possess's anything less then a 10-2 season the results in a BCS berth would be a huge disappointment to me. They are the clear cut best team in this league. About time they start showing it. Not to get overly anxious. Pitt only starts 5 seniors and more then likely lose Baldwin. But the pieces are in place for an even bigger run in 2011.
