Big 10 expansion thoughts

Well, it looks like Nebraska will be official at the end of the week. How is this for the two halves of the conference...

West:
Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern

East:
Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana

If they go to more than 12 teams, we have a different look obviously. I don't want to see 16, but if we do I hope teams aren't allowed to play more than one non conf game. If these schools start making 16 team conferences and non con games start going away it will kill the smaller schools AND I think you won't see very many undefeated teams any more.

I would be happy with 12 teams...
12 game schedule
9 versus conference (play all but two teams every year and rotate it as they currently do)
3 non con games

Here go the dominoes....this is going to be fun to follow!
I'm seeing more and more about a more midwestern than Big East flavor to the Big Ten's plans. Missouri I think is a given....then Notre Dame and/or Kansas and one of the Big East's New York Regional teams (Syr or Rut) are in the mix next. I think before the Big Ten completes their plan, the Pac-10 is going to make a move, probably by the weekend and then the mad scramble will really be on.

Will the others, particular the SEC just sit back and wait? Will all the Big 12 get gobbled up? I'm hoping Pitt lands in the ACC if the Big East gets ripped apart. I think Pitt and WVU would be nice additions there and I like the basketball situation and the easier travel to ACC country than Big Ten country for road trips.

a new rumor going around is that Maryland could be a B10 candidate... Give me some eastern teams!

I do think Nebraska is a great fit in this conference though.

Basically I think if they get 16 team power conferences you'll have a tournament of sorts. SEC, PAC 10, Big 10, and ACC

(The Big East is needed for basketball...I don't know what the heck this will do for teams like Seton Hall and St. John's... Football won't control all will it???)

Roadie, I heard the exact opposite. I heard that Missouri is really getting antsy b/c the Big Ten is giving them the cold shoulder all of a sudden. I have heard Rutgers, Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Maryland.

You're correct. As I read more Missouri is sitting nervous and could end up with egg on their face. You would have thought they would have went as a package deal with Nebraska, maybe that can still happen Fri or over the weekend.

This could go a lot of different ways. As you said the other teams could come from the Big East and Maryland or it could swing back to the midwest and Missouri and sleeper candidate Kansas.
