Countdown #2

Well im stretching this out way too long, but i just write these up when i really absolutely have nothing to do.
Now this one will be different then the other 4 because, well there is nothing on the internet about this team stat wise, and I was only 11 years of age when this team was playing. But dang they were good.
2001 Bishop McCort was a great team, and you would hear no argument from me if some were to say they would be the best team of the 2000's.
They finished the regular season at 7-2. That was back when McCort was cursed against Bishop Carroll and couldn't beat them. And arguably suffered the biggest upset in recent memory in District 6. I'm not sure what the record was, but Central Martinsburg couldn't have has more then 2 wins and knocked off McCort. But when playoffs rolled around, they got things together. What I do recall.....McCort played Bellwood-Antis for the District Title, and came away victorious 21-14. Now the score should have been only 21-7, but Bellwood scored on a fluke, wrong call off a punt. Not sure how the refs screwed that up. Anyone remember which play i mean, and how it went down? But anyway it was a record breaking win for McCort, it marked their first District 6 Title, and gave them their first entry in the PIAA playoffs. McCort got District 10 Champion, Sharon. They got the advantage of playing at Mansion Park for the second consecutive week. It was hard hitting close game, that ended up going to overtime with the score, 10-10. McCort got the ball first and stalled, and Matt Domonkos converted his second FG of the day. And Sharon was a TD away from advancing. They fumbled inside the 5 and McCort won the game. Now had to play WPIAL Champs, Washington. (I remember going down on a bus to Uniontown, they took tons of fan buses. real cool experience...its what HS Football is all abut) The little Prexies were a dominant team from what I recall, mercying teams all year long. McCort hung around and looked like it would be another nail bitter. Than in 5 minute stretch at the end of the half. Washington racked up some points on some mistakes and misfortunes. McCort finished 11-3.
Key players from this team....Yeahh theres a lot.
Joe Arcurio, very accurate passer and a good QB. Started playing Safety during the season and did very well.
Pat Schrey, Mr. Do everything. played Wideout, got the ball in the backfield, and returned ect.
Ryan Regula, very fast and a huge deep threat.
Anthony Rizzo, Big linemen that was key on Defense.
Joe Hockyko-One of two Tackling machines at Linebacker
Kevin Oreskovitch, the other LB
Matt Domonkos, All State, Big 33 Kicker. had a 58 yard Field goal.
I'm leaving out some good players, I realize that. But the teams from the past 3 seasons would not have beat this team. They were loaded and solid just about everywhere. It was the first time McCort went to the State playoffs. the opened the door for greater things to come.
