I am sure this will somehow turn into another Pitt v. Penn state thread , but I thought it would be interesting to see what the board members think are the greatest sports feats of all time.

Of course if it is true Wilt Chamberlain's claim to have had sex with over 20,000 women is in another stratosphere, but we don't have anything to verify that claim so we'll throw that one out.

Of the feats that are verified here are three of my favorites.

1. Oscar Robertson averaging a triple double in 61-62 season.
It is an accomplishment when a player does it in a game now-a-days.
2. Babe Ruth's 119 extra base hits in 1921.
The guy had 16 triples in that season.
3. Cal Ripken's 2632 game streak
This was over 16 seasons. Many guys don't even play 16 seasons let alone play 16 without missing a game. Think how many things had to go right for that streak to happen.

How about these from track and field:

-Carl Lewis earning 9 Olympic Gold medals, including 4 consecutive Olympic golds in the LJ in 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996

-Daniel Komen's 7:20.67 3000m run world record time, which converts to a 7:58 two mile time, or TWO consecutive sub-4:00 miles without stopping

-Sebastian Coe earning consecutive gold medals in the Olympic 1500m run in 1980 and 1984, with the '84 race being won in a then Olympic record time

-John Walker, Eamonn Coughlin, and Steve Scott running 100+ sub-4:00 mile races
