I Called It!

No doubt in my mind now that Paterno is going to pull a Woody Hayes, sounds like he has in practice...he's admitting as such. More evidence that Joe has truly lost his mind:

Paterno challenges his Penn State players to play better
An unhappy Joe Paterno said he's cranking up the intensity of Nittany Lions practices.

Unhappy with his young team's effort in practice and on the playing field, Joe Paterno said he will continue to crank up the intensity of workouts, pushing and challenging his players, even threatening them with playing time.
And no one is being looked at closer in this regard, at least by fans and media types, than tailback Evan Royster.

Paterno did challenge his star tailback's intensity in the middle of last season. This summer, he worried about Royster's endurance because of weight added in the off-season.

And now, with the running game struggling and Royster's production stagnant, Paterno played him little in the second half at Alabama or against Kent State.

On Tuesday, Paterno first talked about his team, which must prepare for its toughest Temple test maybe ever on Saturday:

"We tried to set a different tone," Paterno said of recent practices. "I got around in more drills, pushed some kids, literally threatened a couple of them. 'If you don't start hitting some people a little tougher than what you're doing I'm going to drop you.'

"And I intended to."

Wow.

This defense is very soft. If he can get them fired up, that's his job, Titan.

Can you explain to me what in that report reminds you of the Woody Hayes incident? He wanted to turn up the intensity in practice. Every coach in America does it. Just because he is 83 years old doesn't mean that he can't try to get his team to practice with a little more intensity.

Who is Penn State's coach? I'm curious. Who really is in charge?

Joke Paterno has lost his mind. wait until he belts and official, or a player during a game. It's coming.

Seriously, Paturdo's wife/family should do an intervention and get him to retire before he further embarasses himself and Penn State.

...On second thought, the man deserves to decide when he will retire and is entitled to coach as long as he wants to. I say, long live Joepa. I hope he lives and coaches until he's 1000 years old. Only 5 more years to go to reach that number.

WPIAL, you need to stop trying to rip on PSU so much...this is your worst attempt thus far. Seriously.

I agree this may have been a stretch at a rip on the old man, but that quote was priceless.

I hope he does he knock some of those kids are their asses. Evan Royster can be front and center. Bench that whole defense, too.

Joe just may go all convalescent on the team, just like he did to the reporter at the Alabama post-game presser...
