The Pitt Basketball team has FINALLY got a top 5 player to come to Pitt.
Well the thing is the recruiting class of 2011 is complete and will be incoming freshmen next season, but this kid has made his decision as a High School junior to pull the trigger on Pitt. And makes him the 2nd and in all likelihood the final recruit of that class.
Khem Birch a 6-8 Power Forward is listed at 6-9 190 pounds. He is rated as the 5th best player according to Rivals.com. And ESPN grades him as a 98 and the #2 overall prospect for the class of 2012.
Pitt has easily been a top 10 program over the past ten years. They have the best facilities. They play in the best league, and they have had great success. Making the tournament every year since 2002, annually competing in the Big East final and rarely getting lower then a 3 seed in the NCAA's. YET they do it without getting Top Ten talent. I mean DeJuan Blair wasn't a top 50 recruit, but from the second he was on campus he was a top 10 player in college basketball. But still, Pitt develops their talent very well. They get guys who are 3-4 stars, never guys that are 4-5 stars.
And Pitt fans want more. We are a perennial top 10 team, but are currently stuck at the Elite 8. Dixon has the lifetime contract at Pitt IMO, and he'll never leave. People say you need NBA talent to win a championship, well Jamie just picked up 2 for the class of 2012.
Not only is Birch aboard, but Steven Adams a 6-11 Center from New Zealand is already rated as a 4 star and never played High School Ball in the States. But in camps this summer, he held his own against very good US competition. good enough to earn him 4 star status
SO a 4 star Center coming.
and a 5 Star Power Forward.
Maybe some championships coming?
He'll probably de-commit and end up with Kansas or UNC. So I have to hold my breathe for 2 seasons
