For all you Richland haters...
How many times did Richland make the playoffs before Bailey arrived?
They missed the playoffs THIS YEAR based on a points system. A POINTS SYSTEM. Richland was in a rebuilding year behind center and still should have made the playoffs, but were kept out based on a dang points system.
It is ridiculous that there are people at Richland (and on this site) who are already so spoiled that they make posts on here claiming coaches are not putting in the time in the offseason, should be fired, or at the very least should change the offense that made them relevant. That is absolutely pathetic.
Listen, geniuses, the problem is not the offensive system, its whether or not you have someone who can execute it.
And somebody should post the enrollment numbers for the LHAC.

Re: For all you Richland haters...
I'm not hatin' on anyone. But that is a typical post 1990 statement. Did the POINT System lose 4 games for you? Nope. Is it fair that an 18 or 19 win Syracuse team is kept out of the big dance and a sub 500 Appalation vo-tech gets in based on winning their tournament with teams that couldn't stay within 60 points of the big boys? Nope. It's called reality and it's a lesson taught to young people through sports. The feel good society we have now that wants their child to get a trophy for a 1-9 season is ruining pretty much all sports. Could Richland beat 1 or 2 of the teams in this years playoffs? Probably, but if they'd have been 7-3 we wouldn't be posting on it now. Bust your butts in the offseason and make sure it doesn't happen next year.
To add to what TAE was saying, blaming the coach is the same thing. I don't know young Mr Bailey, but I know before he arrived, Richland wasn't mentioned in playoff talk every year, they are now; every preseason!
Eat your crow and remember what it tastes like, and feed it to someone else next year.

Okay, well, the same can be said for the teams who DID make it, bud. They got a bid based on a points system. Those teams have losses as well.

TAE
You just gave away your argument. If you don't have the skill set to execute the offensive scheme then you need to adjust to your personell. They don't need to change their formations, just adjust their play design to fit their personell from year to year. I'm not knocking on Coach Bailey - just your point that you tried to make. I didn't see any of their games this year so I can't comment on how they tried to use their personell besides running the spread. But a lot of spread teams don't always throw the ball. You can use 4 wide sets and still run some zone reads, motion into the backfield for iso or power leads. The concept of the spread is to use the field both vertically AND horizontally.

TAE, Richland is the smallest AA team in the league, maybe D6.

Re: For all you Richland haters...
Exactly. Richland has very low enrollment. And for them to be a playoff contender against schools who are a lot bigger like FH or schools who were recently AAA, that is pretty dang impressive.
I didnt give away my argument. Every HS coach knows you have to adjust a little bit based on the personnell you inherit. Key word inherit, b/c you are at the mercy of what you get in each grade. But people on and off this board who are saying Richland should change the offense are nuts. That offense got them into the playoffs. And even in a year when they were rebuilding, and still running a passing scheme w/ a new QB, they STILL almost made it. That right there tells me that they did the right thing by not changing too much. If you are a passing team who now has a new QB w/ little to no experience, and you still should have made the playoffs, those coaches are doing something right.

Re: For all you Richland haters...
Those teams with losses that did make it(ie the 6-4 teams) won the games they needed to win, like CC beating a 9 win AAA school,H-don beat a AAAA school with 5 wins, Richland had 5 games with teams that had at least 6 wins, they were 1-4, it wasn't the system as much as it was the fact they needed to do better against the better teams.

Re: For all you Richland haters...
Let's take a look at Richland's stats on Maxpreps.
Rizzo carried 131 times for 957 yards.
Cinko carried 141 times for 898 yards.
Walton carried 37 times for 247 yards.
Rozich carried 18 times for 141 yards.
As a whole team, Richland ran the ball 360 times for 2366 yards.
Cinko threw 71 times for 573 yards.
Solarczyk threw 40 times for 275 yards.
Hihalik threw 17 times for 120 yards.
As a whole team, Richland threw the ball 133 times for 968 yards.
Doesn't look to me like they were "passing too much"!
Here's the Forest Hills stat totals.
Rushing: 387 carries for 2626 yards.
Passing: 95 passes for 1165 yards.
Now, considering that Forest Hills was the area's best team, those numbers between FH and Richland are not all that far off.
It doesn't look to me like Richland had their heads up their "butts" as a coaching staff. What do you think?

Re: For all you Richland haters...
I don't see the problem with changing personnel though. I said it before, I watched McCort have Jordan DeFrances run a pro style attack. It was balanced, and he was in the top 3 in the state for passing. The following year, he left and they did not have a QB that could run that O. They did have a boatload of Running Backs though. So they put in the Wing T and don't have any drop off. They changed their pro style offense that was pass oriented to a running attack to suit the needs of the team. And it paid off.
And you see that they have a QB they believe can throw the ball this year, they adjusted to that, and he has over 1000 yards. Last year they had like 400 yards passing total. Don't be surprised if they go back to the pro-style spread again.
So what's the problem if Richland changes their O. There no Pecora or Ramieres on this year's team. It was clear because if they did, they would have won a few more games. They did have Rizzo and Cinko. 2 backs that ended up running the ball a lot anyways. What would it have hurt to put a young QB in there to run a more running oriented offense and ease him into a passing game year by year? I bet Rizzo and Cinko would have had more yards if they were running from under center I form.
I understand where your coming from though. But I understand where pats is coming from also.
