Re: All state class A
Isn't the editor or one of the "head dogs" of the PA Fotball News an Ebensburg resident? Must be with 3 or so members of BC on the team!
Re: All state class A
First off Myrtle this is the PA sports writers all-state list not PFN all-state so that really doesnt mean anything.
And BC went to the state semi-finals while having many outstanding players. All the kids that made it to the all-state list are outstanding players.
Dont be jealous because your team did not sport any all-staters

Re: All state class A
Look at the list, it was pretty close to the players that should be there. And for BC havinf 3 kids, Woo had over 2,000 yards rushing, and Chumric had 20 sacks. They should be on the list, Makin as a 2nd team is ok he had around 200 total tackles with assists included. As for the rest of the players there will more than likley be a few changes but all in all its a fair list.
Re: All state class A
Can someone explain this to me? If Makin had around 200 tackles with assists, and only made 2nd team as a linebacker, then how many did Chumrik make as a 1st teamer????? And then, are you saying that 2 guys were responsible for over 400 tackles this year for BC's defense??? Didn't any of the other 9 guys on defense make any tackles???? What about kids on BC's opponents teams running out of bounds, throwing incomplete passes, scoring touchdowns, punting, etc etc? How many plays did BC opponents run this year? Seems unbelievable, doesn't it?? I remember years ago when Luke Golden made all-state as a linebacker for BC. They embellished HIS stats by giving him credit for "FIRST HITS"!!!!! What the hell was that supposed to mean? If he was any good, shouldn't "FIRST HITS" become tackles. I mean, did he make the first hit and NOT make the tackle? To me that's a failure, isn't it? Unbelieveable!!!

Sketchy stat keeping for sure. Not to discredit the players, I'm sure they're great performers, but 200 tackles doesn't happen when NFL and NCAA play 14-16 games. Most inflated tackle stats happen with teams with poor records due to the fact that they play a lot of defense and not much offense. BC had two losses in the regular season, they were a very good team. How many people can get credit for a tackle? Touch the pile before the whistle and you've got an assist?

Re: All state class A
Makin was 20th in the state with 12.4 tackles a game, I think about 74 solo tackles. Chumric was 166th in the state with 9.2 a game, with about 94 solo. In all football they now have asstist stat now. Look at all the players that hold up and try to strip the ball. The second and third player that come in and help are also credited with an assist. I found the info on max preps. Im sure some schools don't put thier stats up there. Chumric tied with one other person with 21 sacks to lead the state. I think that a team averages between 50-60 plays on defence a game. So for BC that would be roughly 700 plays.
Re: All state class A
50 or 60 plays a game on defense is a huge number. I am sure that over the season they had many more plays on offense than on defense because they primarily ran the ball and the clock just. Tackle stats are usually counted by the teams coaches. Not an easy job and I am sure that some count differently than others.

I give these 3 props they earned it along with Calvin Anderson. Thats 4 players from this area so far on all state teams with double A and Quad A due to come out we may have a few more in double A. This is great for the Area to be having kids earning all state
