This year's bowl performance by conference;
It really bothers Nitters that the Big East has beeen steadily rated above the 'Lil 10 by all knowledgeable pundits for the past decade....Big East a bit down this year but still above the Big 10 :shock:

Congrats to the Big East for beating 4 teams with a combined overall record of 27-25, and combined conference records of 14-18. And even that number is inflated by Southern Mississippi's 8-5 overall and 5-3 conference record in Conference USA. Come on now, bowl records are no way to judge how good a conference is, or else the Mountain West would be the best conference in football this year, and the Sun Belt is ahead of the SEC. To say that is just absurd. Look at the SEC sitting there at 5-5 and I don't think anyone would argue that they are easily the best conference in college football.

I didn't realize that the Sun Belt was better than the SEC this year.

Troy would have lit up every team in the SEC this year including Auburn. I always love the bowl argument reasoning for lesser conferences.

You play with the hand that's dealt you. If the Big Ten wants all these bowl tie-ins, then that's the way the competition stacks up. If Northwestern wants to play on New year's Day, then certainly there's a chance they're gonna lose. Don't cry about it or make excuses for the losses.

I don't see anyone crying. I see people pointing out facts. The Big Ten brings fans to games which brings money to Bowls. Does it mean they deserve to play in the bowls they play in? No. But, the bowls would be stupid to pick a Pitt team that will bring 83 fans to a New Years day game over a team that will bring 30,000 and more money as a result. It sucks that it's about money and not matchups but it is and it's not going to change. So, as a result teams in the Big East/Conf USA/MAC play in lesser bowls with easier matchups because well not many people care about them

So when the Big Ten continually loses more times than they win in bowl games, it's not going to change. As Walter Kronkite used to say, "And that's the way it is".

Maybe they should put Big East teams in place of the Big Ten Teams, watch them go 1-5, and make 1/8th of the money. That would be a good business decision.

Maybe Big Ten teams should try harder to beat their bowl opponents, or pull out of their bowl tie-ins.
