It's been a sellout for over a month, the university held 300 student tix back which were to be distributed at rec hall Friday at 7am, when a news guy went by at 5am there was already a throng of kids in line....this will be good! The 2 staffs don't like each other, the fan bases despise each other, throw in the fact Iowa is the 3time defending national champs and are riding a 72 match unbeaten streak and are only favored in 2 or 3 of the 10 bouts just adds to their discontent. Watch for the debut of Montell Marion possibly at 141 vs Andrew Alton, Marion was the NCAA runnerup last year but was kicked out of school last year but miraculously reinstated by the university a month before the PSU match,Marion hasn't wrestled yet, but a few folks "in the know" expect to see him trot out for a super bout either at 141 against the pinning machine Alton or at 149 vs the "Gorilla Hulk" as Fretwell calls him, all-american Molinaro. Every match looks to be a dogfight....man I can't wait.

That's why I got my season tix 2 years ago. A match this big should be live on ESPNU anyway, the fact that the j@#% - offs from the midwest aren't favored makes it "secondary tv" with the big ten jerks.

22-13 Iowa....Best atmosphere I've ever seen for a match...until they started. IOWA GOT 6 at 125 which was expected but Long losing to Ramos was bad, and Alton losing to Marion after Alton opened with a 5 pt move really sucked.Personally, Marion was flat for a second and a half at least but he controled the rest of the way...back breaker. Top to bottom the only true good(not great) but good performance was Taylor at 157, kid will be a national champ, probably multiple times. I really feel the need to puke other than that.

9:50 pm on Sunday eve....no PSU/Iowa match on BTN????

5 minutes after you posted, the game earlier ran late and they didn't cut the icon show, came on around 10, will be on again for brands enjoyment tuesday

Yep, the 12-0 start really silenced the crowd. I couldn't see Marion on his back from where I was sitting but Cael certainly reacted like he was pinned. But Marion dominated Alton the rest of the way. Alton really looked gased. I also thought he looked tired against the boy from Pitt later in the match. Taylor could win it this year, really special to watch that kid. Molinaro could have scored more but he was apparently working for the fall and it cost him a major. Other than that, not much to cheer about as Iowa clearly out wrestled PSU. But, give them time, they will get there.

Note-why do they sit those chairs so close to the sides of the mat, it really obstructs the view for many fans? Why not move them back so you can see over them to the mat.
