Surprisingly enough, Penn State is doing pretty well so far in recruiting.
A few days ago, we landed Jamil Pollard from NJ, a 3-4 star DT/OT who has a slew of offers. I know a guy who coaches for this HS, this kid is the real deal.
Yesterday, Jarron James, a 5-star DT from NY, committed. James is listed as a "soft verbal" but is on the record as saying he knows PSU is where he wants to go, but he wants to take his visits. So, take out of that whatever you want, but as of now he is headed to Penn State.
Both kids have Alabama offers as well as many, many others.

I've heard that James wants to stay fairly local. I believe that BC, Syracuse, Rutgers, and UNC are the biggest threats.

Most kids stick w/ their original commitment or end up re-committing to the original school. The vast, vast majority.
That kid is very impressive. Would be a major snag for us. Hopefully none of the coaches will try to bathe him in the showers.

Bigtime recruits? How about Flavor Flav? He wears that big clock, right? That's Big Time.

I won't get excited about a recruiting class until the name is signed on the dotted line in February. I said the same thing about Pitt's start to recruiting last year....a lot can happen between now and February. Especially when you are dealing with a coach in his Mid 80's. 17-18 year old kids are swayed more easily these days than ever and 10 months is a long time.

Pitt fired their head coach, though. The PSU assistants are all signed through the next 4 years and have been selling recruits that they are not going anywhere, but Joe is. Take that as you will.

Thats true, but I wouldn't say Penn State is the most stable Coaching situation out there either. its just early in the game, but the Penn State staff is off to a fast start just as Pitt was last year.
