ICC Week 2

4-3 last week and the same overall - Missed on Mo Valley, West Branch, and Mt. Union

Bellwood (0-1) @ Everett (0-1)
I know I predicted a close score but I was surprised to see Bellwood that tight with Tyrone last week. Everett hosted Glendale and had a lead on them in the second half. Glendale lost their quarterback but still ended up coming back to best the Warriors. The Blue Devils often lose week 1 and then win at least 7 games. It happens again this year. Everett needs to stay competitive in this one or they could collapse. They were a team I thought could win 6 games. I'm now leaning toward 4.

Bellwood 34 - Everett 12

Claysburg (1-0) @ Tussey Mountain (0-1)
The Dawgs showed some bite last week as they stomped Williamsburg. Tussey was beaten pretty easily by Juniata Valley and that really did shock me. I know they lost a lot of their guys from a year ago, but I still felt they would be pretty good. This is a big week 2 matchup. CK MUST win this one because in 4 of their next 5 games they have Bellwood, JV, NBC, and Mo Valley. A win here still doesn't convince me that they can beat any of those teams, but it shows they can beat Eve and Glendale and should at least battle the others and could get a win in any of them.

CK 22 - TM 21

Mt. Union (1-0) @ West Branch (1-0)
West Branch is improved but Mt. Union looks like the elite team in the ICC South after a week. Mt. Union rolls in this one. They sound like they might roll into week 5 vs. Juniata Valley. Their coaching staff has to hope that they are taking it one game at a time, but it looks like a 4-0 start is almost a certainty.

Mt. Union 36 - West Branch 7

Southern Huntingdon (0-1) @ Juniata Valley (1-0)
I thought SH would be more competitive this year with a few of their athletes back from last year's squad, but it looks like it could be a long season for the Rockets after an opening week loss to West Branch. JV rolled Tussey and they will do the same to SH this week. The only thing that could get in their way is looking ahead to next week's game vs. Mo Valley.

JV 40 - SH 0

Mo Valley (1-0) @ Williamsburg (0-1)
Moshannon Valley and NBC played last week and the Knights came out on top. MV was bottled up most of the night, but Dylan Ludwig uncorked the offense with an 88 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter to seal the deal. Ludwig and Southern provide a great 1-2 punch and they could lead this team to a very nice season. I'm excited to see how they'll do against the elite of the North in Bellwood and JV. I think to win either of those games they'll have to be more of a threat to pass then they were a week ago only throwing something like 4 times. Williamsburg, I thought you'd do better than what was shown versus CK. I don't think the Blue Pirates are as bad as they showed a week ago, but Mo Valley is better than CK.

Mo Valley 45 - Williamsburg 8

Game of the Week-
NBC (0-1) @ Glendale (1-0)
My game of the week was a toss up between this one and the CK vs TM game. I chose this game based on importance to the teams involved. I think CK vs TM will be a closer game though. Northern lost a tough one to Mo Valley last week, but Glendale won in a come from behind victory at Everett behind the running of Damon Braniff. Braniff is a very good running back but a week ago he had to play some quarterback with Witherow getting injured. NB's Matt Sollenberger looked good racking up over 125 yards last week against Mo Valley and the defense limited the Knights to very few yards (minus Ludwig's long run). This game is huge for both teams. A win by NB gives them some confidence back. A loss by NB and Mt. Union looks like there is nobody to challenge them in the South. Glendale looks to be behind Bellwood, MV, and JV in the north. A win here and they'll throw their name in the hat in the north as well. How bad did Witherow get hurt and if he is out will Glendale continue to run the wildcat with Braniff or will they have a new man taking snaps? If the Vikings can't pass I don't think they can beat the Panthers.

NBC 21 - Glendale 7

Went 5-2, missing on WB and MU.

Speaking of the Warriors and Trojans, they meet this week in Allport. WB is definitely improved, but depth is an issue for the Warriors -- who only have 21 players on the roster. Their starting 11 are tough, but the reserves won't be able to hand House and Co.
Mount Union 37, West Branch 13

Like the WB Warriors, Everett is also improved and has some impressive size in the trenches. But, Bellwood is Bellwood.
B-A 42, Everett 6

Claysburg has a fairly talented squad this season and could be a sleeper team to compete with the JVs and MVs. The Bulldogs return Ickes and Helsel, while Dodson was impressive through the air last week against Williamsburg. The Bulldogs capitalized on Blue Pirate mistakes in Week 1, and there's no reason to think they'll slow down this week.
C-K 27, Tussey Mountain 12

The Rockets were smacked in the mouth by a team that hasn't won multiple games in a season since 2006, i believe. Uh oh.
Juniata Valley 48, So. Huntingdon 7

Mo Valley picked up an impressive win on the road against a pretty solid No. Bedford squad. The Knights faced 8-to-10 guys in the box with receiving threat Logan Cook sidelined with an injury. The Mo Valley offensive front got the job done against the Panthers, so there's no reason to think they slow down this week. The Pirates did keep the C-K ground game in check for the most part, but the Knights will be too much.
Mo Valley 37, Williamsburg 6

GAME OF THE WEEK
The Vikes showed some meddle last week, rallying from a 12-0 halftime deficit without their starting quarterback. While Gary Witherow will return this week, Braniff will still shoulder the load for Glendale. The Panthers, on the other hand, are coming off a tough Week 1 loss. Something's got to give. Will NB's passing attack be the difference? On a wet field ... i'm not so sure. Slight upset ...
Glendale 13, No. Bedford 12

Is Logan Cook still out for MV?

I thought the word was that Witherow had an injury that would sideline him for at least a few weeks.

Is anyone else missing any of their key starters this week??
