Did Franco give any indication of his future plans at yesterday afternoons Tyrone Football Banquet? Staying or going to Altoona?

I heard that Altoona is twisting his arm to go back to Altoona.

Eaglealum,
I wouldn't be so fast to make fun of Altoona going 4-6 until you see what Tyrone does. They could very well be 4-6 also! It's not easy to rebuild a staff of good coaches! It's one thing to have the athletes, but you also need to guide them in the right direction. I would hate to see Tyrone go back to the way they were before Franco came.

Since he wasn't specific, maybe the 4-6 was intended for Tyrone.

There are several more than capable "in-house" guys that can step up, led by Darren Elvey. Tyrone won't see 4-6 till long after my kids are out of school.

I agree, I believe there are 2 or 3 in-house guys that are capable. I've heard some information on the plans of a few depending on what would happen. I have a feeling the entire staff could go in one or two situations, and maybe they would stay in a couple other situations. Maybe you have also talked with some of the coaches and have a general feeling; I guess time will tell. I hope their not 4-6 until my kids are out also. lol

Why so bitter EagleAlum? Franco did great things for Tyrone football. I wish him luck at Altoona and hope he can do good things for their program. He did about all he could at AA and Tyrone and makes a move up versus a lateral move. He can end his career taking a shot at AAAA WPIAL football which is great for him. He also sets himself and his family up better for the rest of his life as this will surely help his retirement numbers. Actually, I'm not sure if coaching salary goes into PA retirement or not since it is part of what he makes with the school.

Not that bitter. If he ain't here, doesn't matter to me where he is...Altoona, Bellwood...don't matter. Just the reasoning; is the only thing I have a hard time with.

Now that I look at Altoona's new WPIAL AAAA section, half of the teams in there would get beaten by Tyrone in most years. Connellsville, Hempfield, Norwin, Latrobe, Kiski Area are perhaps the 5 weakest teams in WPIAL AAAA and should be a chance to pick up 5 wins.
Gateway, McKeepost, and Penn Trafford are all decent teams in most years, with Gateway and Mport head and shoulders above the rest of this conference for now.
Altoona has some very solid underclassmen. Their frosh team was unbeaten, but granted they only played 4 out of 10 AAAA schools. I think that they will be improved this year because of a solid soph class, and the step down in competition.
