Marte time?

On the year now hitting .287, OBP of .348, 9 HRs, 15 2Bs, 10 3Bs, 49 RBI, and 16 SB. Tabata can still be a huge part of this team moving forward, but needs a trip to Indy to sort things out and relight a fire under his behind. It is time for Marte I feel. I think Tabata has until the break, and if things don't change, we'll see Starling in the OF for the Bucs when they had to Milwaukee on July 13th and Jose with the Indians, and I don't mean Cleveland.

It almost has to happen. The Pirates can't possibly stick with Tabata with the production he is giving. I think it would be a good call to bring Marte up, he could add a spark to an already dangerous offense of late.

I'd call him up, put him in LF, and lead him off. Against righties go Marte (LF), Walker, Cutch, Jones (RF), Pedro, McGehee, Barajas, Barmes. Against lefties go Marte, Walker, Cutch, McGehee, Pedro, Barajas, Presley, Barmes. I've supported them keeping him down there thus far because the first 2 months he did struggle, but he has really turned it on the past month or so. Pair that with Tabata and Presley's struggles, and its time.

I'd stick with Presley at leadoff. He has been considerably better since his callup. I'd go Marte anywhere from 2,6,or 7. Leadoff is a huge problem for the Bucs and I don't want Marte coming in thinking he has to be the savior. Let him get 3 weeks in, and if he appears ready....I'd stick him at leadoff. Regardless, his callup is seeming more and more likely.

The problems with the lead off spot is why I'd put him there, at least for now, because I think he'll develop far too much power to leave him there long term.

IMO, the Buccos have to stick with what they have at least until the all-star break.
As fans, most of the time, we think the prospects coming up are going to give the team a better chance to win. Well right now the team is winning. Six games over .500 and only one game out of first place. If the Buccos can take 3 of 4 from the Astros, they will be 8 games above .500. I thought I heard somewhere they haven't been 8 games above .500 since 1992.
I will be excited to see Marte soon too, but I am not sure I would mess with the team make-up just yet.

Tabata needs to go. He isn't helping the team makeup whatsoever. Sutton has come in and seems like he fits right in. They all know Marte from the minors and spring training, and they know the talent he has. Right now a hot AAA player is much better than a very, very bad MLB player in Tabs.
THis move won't happen until next Friday night, but it is not out of the question. Everything will stay the same for now. Bucs have 7 game until the All Star Break. 5 of 7 would be ideal. These four with Houston are must win and very winnable games. Can't screw around with bad teams.

I think it's a little early he has less than 400 AB at AAA not saying he couldn't play in the majors right now but it like Thanksgiving morning when you smell the Turkey and you want to eat right then. But only bad things come from not letting it cook long enough.

The Pirates gave Jose Tabata 14 million guaranteed dollars before his 500th AB as a Major Leaguer. That one stung a bit. Whats the problem in bringing up Marte early and see what he has?
They say AAA-MLB pitching is very, very similar. They still can throw 95MPH down there, the difference is the control. He's coming up here to play, and play everyday. Give him a chance.
I actually recall people saying they thought Bryce Harper's career would be ruined by bringing him up as early as they did. He's just leading their team in batting average to date......
More good than bad can come of bringing Marte up.
