This is fantastic. As of right now, two kids are transferring: Nowicki and Gaia. That basically opens up two scholarships that can be filled for the 2012 class, which still is not technically finalized. That's right, not the 2013 class, I'm talking the 2012 class, who will be true freshmen as of the opening kickoff in just a few short weeks.

Late last night, Penn State got a commitment from a LB in AZ named Brennan Franklin. 6'2" 235, was all-state. He has one D1 offer: Toledo. Was about to head to JUCO to improve his game and hopefully land at a bigtime D1 school in 2 years.

I just am enamored w/ the fact that the staff quickly realized that with diminishing scholarship numbers over the next couple years, they reacted quickly enough to sneak this kid in the backdoor as a 2012 recruit. That's pretty impressive. I love the fact that they did not sit on those 2 scholarships, because that's essentially the loss of two MORE scholarships in addition to the ones the NCAA mandated.

I think that this O'Brien guy is pretty impressive. Listening to him talk, he is inspiring and he "gets it".

As far as existing players on scholarship is concerned, is the option to "transfer to another school and play immediately" only good until school starts THIS year in 2012? Once this year starts, future transfers then revert back to the original rule? If so, then PSU players only have a few weeks to make their move as far as transferring is concerned. It's a one-shot deal. Use it or lose it, as they say. Who else is leaving?

They actually have less, Moldo. I am under the impression that the rule is in effect for TEN DAYS. That means that they are down to 7, if I am correct. That was Tuesday, right?
