The Paternos are appealing the NCAA's ruling? Are you kidding me? On what grounds do they have to appeal anything? This is proof positive that they think they are bigger than PSU. This also codifies the extreme arrogance of the whole Paterno family. Joe is dead, and so is his legacy. This family is making absolute buffoons of themselves and of Joe. He clearly lied to his own family, along with everyone else. The NCAA may dig deeper, and give their patriarch his due process alright...and I believe that if the NCAA does decide to dig deeper it will get far worse for Paterno's legacy. in that case, I say keep it coming, Paternos!!

I'd love to know the results of a Freeh report on WPIALTitan and his skeletons....

I know one thing, Titan could not even dream of helping 0.0000000000001% of the people that JoePa has helped with his positive actions.

Everyone has regrets in life, including me. In some cases and situations, I wish that I had done more.

With that said, I can say honestly say that never in my life did I or would I dream of not following through beyond the call of duty in the situation that has transpired at PSU. It's unfathomable for a dozen+ young boys that Paterno, and so many others did not follow through beyond the call of duty, knowing what they knew about the REPEATED pattern of extremely questionable behavior of one of the high priests of the PSU football cult.

In my opinion, that gross negligence and obvious coverup by many trumps any and all good deeds from the past, even several millions of dollars in donations to the university as the tv cameras were rolling.

Btw, I have helped a few people along the way, even a few who post here. I did so in a non sanctimonious fashion, expecting no publicity and nothing in return with certainly no expectations for positive media coverage, my name on buildings, or statues being erected.

I've posted on here before that the Paterno's needed to just keep their mouths shut and let this all play out. The more they squawk the guiltier and stupider they look. This latest move takes the cake. The University that their father coached at has AGREED to the NCAA sanctions and yet the Paterno's, apparently thinking they are bigger than a University, want to challenge/appeal the governing body for college athletics! I thought that was up to SCHOOLS to do since the organization governs SCHOOLS. Apparently the University of Paterno's doesn't think so. Imagine if the Tressel's had appealed the Ohio State sanctions, and on and on....do the PSU fans get how utterly ridiculous this is?

Again I'm glad they did it. If they don't feel he screwed up then this is a non football issue. Keep on sticking up for your dad and husband if you believe him. If it was your dad or spouse and you believed him but sat idly by while all this happened you would be a coward. Obviously they believe in what he told them and who he was as a person.

The sanctions were against Penn State NOT Joe Paterno! The only way they affected him was those wins....The wins were also all of their assistant coaches and players not just JOE's! Yet I don't see any of the others affected individually appealing to the NCAA. I've never seen any individual appeal to the NCAA. And of course, the NCAA (as the rest of the nation outside of Unhappy Valley) merely laughed at them.

I agree what they have has no merit because as you said Roadie Penn State accepted the sanctions. Think about it, would you accept sanctions, even if you thought they were harsh when you had a figurative pistol to your head. I believe you would. The only thing I am completely baffled about is the due process that I thought we had in America. How does the NCAA have the power to due what they did without ANY legal evidence. Please don't say look at the Freeh report because that is not a legal document. Somebody has to speak up because the university itself can't because of the way the NCAA is reacting to this matter. It is not just PSU people who think the NCAA is wrong. I've heard Jay Bilas and Brent Musberger both question the validity of the power that the NCAA dished out in this case. I agree what has happened is terrible, but the sanctions are just not appropriate to harm this team and the future one's. Penalize the school, yes, but not the kids.

Mountain man, have you read the Freeh report? All of it? Have any of you?

Most media seems like they haven't.... Curious to find out.
