Week 7 - Mountain League

So no one else is going to preview the Mountain League, so I was bored and figured I would do it, for this week at least…
BEA (4-2) @ Huntingdon (0-6)
Bald Eagle is coming off an embarrassing loss to a much improved Tyrone Team. The Bearcats of Huntingdon have not won a game yet this year. The Bearcats have a long history of winning but I do not believe it will start again this week. Bald Eagle will take out some pent up anger and frustration on Huntingdon this week and continue their push for a winning record and playoff berth in a very competitive and evolving D6 AA playoff race.
BEA - 42 Huntingdon - 14
Phillipsburg Osceola (0-6) @ Central-Martinsburg (4-2)
Central is coming off a semi-controversial and heart breaking loss to Fort Hill (MD). PO, like Huntingdon is searching for their first win of the season. Last year’s magic regular season and playoff run must feel like ages ago for the Mounties and this feeling will continue through this week. Central gets back on track and rolls at home.
Central - 49 PO - 7
Bellefonte (2-4) @ Penns Valley (2-4)
Statistically this game is a tossup. Both teams are scoring the same amount of points on offense; Bellefonte 95, PV 96. The difference in this game will come down to defense, and playmaking ability. Bellefonte’s defense is statistically better than only allowing a total of 118 points this year where PV has given up a total of 138. Bellefonte’s athlete’s win this one on big plays.
Bellefonte – 24 PV – 20
Game of the Week
Clearfield @ Tyrone
You could consider this the Mountain League Championship Game; if Tyrone would pull off the upset then three teams would be tied for the best record in the Mountain League, each beating the other. The Title would probably still go to CHS but this game has even bigger implications for Tyrone. With clear cut preseason favorites like Central and PC faultering again this week and FH and CH winning the D6 AA Playoff race is pretty congested. Richland will be the #1 seed. That is almost a guarantee, but there is a wide open race for seeds 2-8. I have a hard time picking against Tyrone any week, even when they’re the clear underdog. That being said I believe this is a different team from when I saw them against BA. Tyrone never losses at home, especially in the regular season; I believe they have lost a total of 3 regular season games at home since the 2003 season (Huntingdon, Mifflin County, BA). I am going against the crowd and pick Tyrone to win this one, win out, and pick up the number 2/3 seed in the D6 Playoffs (Yeah I went that far, haha).
Tyrone – 27 Clearfield - 24
