For the Rangers...they have some major holes to fill if they want to have any chance to even sniff Altoona, let alone the state playoffs in 2013.

The Rangers are losing most of their offensive production from 2012 with Jared Shope, Doltyn Snedden, and Shawn Dell walking across the graduation platform this spring. When a play had to be made this year...it was one of these three outstanding Seniors making it for the Green and Gold.

The good news is that Joe Donoughe does return at QB for the Rangers. His athletism and playmaking ability will certainly been enough for the Rangers to be a playoff contender, but he is going to need some fellow teammates to step up in a big way if they hope their season to go any deeper than that.

Tyler Shima and Jared Krug are two guys twho possess this potential. Both guys will step into these roles with little experience, but plenty of ability. Shima, who competed with Donoughe for the starting QB gig this past season, is an athletic kid with above average speed. He would fit into the slot position nicely in Coach Bailey's offense being the #1 wideout, offering the potenial for some wildcat or running plays as well.

Jared Krug has a nice combination of size and speed and should be able to hit the ground running at the tailback position next year. On most teams in the area he would be a coming into his senior season touting plenty of carries, but he has been stuck behind talented backs such as Anthony Unger and Shawn Dell the past two seasons.

Dustin Ohler returns as well for his senior season and could slide into the fullback role occupied by FreshmanIan Wieczorek this past season. In the OG's humble opinion, it would make more sense for Wieczorek to move to line where the G&G will desperately need him over the course of the next couple seasons, but it seems like Coach Bailey really likes him at fullaiback, so time will tell.

Two major wildcards at playmaker for the Rangers will be Junior Sharef Blough, and Sophomore Andy Pinkas. Blough, who moved up to Varsity as a Freshman, couldn't really gain traction as a sophmore. With hard work he absolutely can be a difference maker in 2013 on both sides of the ball. Pinkas is considered to be one of the better 9th grade runners in recent memory...but will that translate immediately to the varsity level? It will be likely that Andy takes on some sort of role on both sides of the ball in 2013.

The offensive and defensive lines will again be the major question marks for Forest Hills in 2013. Players such as Kish, Gibson, Varner, Bailey (no relation to Coach Bailey), Smay, and Madison offer possible solutions. All but Logan Madison have little or no varsity experience.

Easy to see that potential is there for The Forest Hills Rangers in 2013, but with so many question marks it is hard to consider them much more than playoff hopefuls at this point.

Excellent anaylysis Opinionguy. Good to see a post from you. I figured Blough would be making plays by this point, because its rare for a freshmen to be called up at Forest Hills. Hes an athlete, no doubt about it. I bet he makes some stuff happen this season. Again, it comes down to line depth. The Rangers were uncharacteristicly small, even with the two sizes too big shoulder pads Forest Hills always wears. But Joey D is a good start for any team. Kid can play.

Blough needs his attitude adjusted. If he would apply himself he could be pretty good, but has fumblitis and makes poor decisions at times. Andy Pinkas is already bigger than older bro Zach, and faster. Dallas McClintock will take over for Snedden w/o missing a beat. What hands for a frosh. Nice size coming up from the frosh to JV also, maybe one or more see a lot of action. The schedule next year is tougher, some teams have a lot coming back, and the Rangers will have a slightly more successful season. They should make playoffs. Up to them how far they go.
