Is there an issue with the PSU scandal we all can agree on?

I'm going to start by saying that I do not have one nice thing to say about Tom Corbett. It's my belief that he treated this entire Sandusky case with his best interest in mind. He didn't prosecute until after his election, he prosecuted once Penn State stood up against his rediculous education spending cuts, and now he is grandstanding for his next election.
I do, however, have a major problem with a statement made yesterday and it was the one from the NCAA.
"Not only does this forthcoming lawsuit appear to be without merit, it is an affront to all of the victims in this tragedy – lives that were destroyed by the criminal actions of Jerry Sandusky."
Can we all stop saying what the victims think? They obviously did not contact the victims at all we deciding the punishment for Penn State. That is made clear through the statements of the lawyer for victim 4. I do not know what offends the victims or what certain things make them feel or what punishment they feel will be fitting for certain people/organizations. Why does the NCAA feel that they are the voice for the victims.
I really do not care what the punishment is for Penn State at this point. I just do not want the punishment to impact the academics of the university. I realized this year that I can have just as much fun cheering for a 4 loss team with nothing to play for as I did cheering for the team as a student in '08 or there run in '99, '05, or any other year I can remember.
