I love both picks. But here's something I noticed when researching the draft. The Bucs top prospect at SS in at the A level ball so he's 1-2 yrs away anyway, draft kids aren't mlb ready out of the gate, so ya got Barmes, who's hopefully on a bus the day after the season ends, and Mercer, who I like but don't think he's the long term answer. Here's what ya do, CALL NOLAN Ryan!!! The Rangers locked up Andrus for 10 years, Kinsler for another 5. They got Profar and nowhere to put him. I don't care if it takes several prospects, make the deal!

Folks from the Ranger Nation are eagerly awaiting to see where, not if, Kent State's George Roberts goes.

George has a bat, no doubt about that. Excited for him.

I think the Bucs have expendable pieces now. Polanco,Bell, and now Meadows are three very good OFs at the bottom of the farm. Plus last year's top pick, Barrett Barnes. Maybe you can centerpiece a deal with Polanco, who is a top 50 prospect in all of baseball. But I think Hansen is still a few years away, but I expect him to be pretty good when he does in fact arrive. I think you coul get away with Mercer as your Shortstop next year, possibly even 2. I'd say see what the deadline brings. Because Texas will want a good bit for that kid.

Give 'em whatever they want for Profar. Name one quality guy other than 'Cutch in the last 10 years to come through our minor system. We may draft talent but can't develop it. Don't say Bautista either, he was garbage before the Jays guys got him and spent a good year or two on his swing(and maybe a visit from Bonds topical cream guy). Walker blew 7 years in minors and changed positions twice to become an avg 2nd baseman that switch hits but can't hit as well right handed as most pitchers. Every major contributor they have came from another organization. Pedro could be the second guy that was "all theirs" but is still too inconsistant to be considered good.
Basically they havent built anything other than pieces they can trade.

To expand that a little farther, I went to a Curve game yesterday. They have 3 or 4 of their top 10 prospects... no less than 5 horrible baserunning blunders in 1 game that they lost 3-2... what they got "ain't learnin' no fundametals" haha . Unless they trade for real major leaguers or figure out who they can employ to teach the "youngins' " how to be major leaguers, nothing is going to change.
