Pedro Alvarez is an All Star.

David Wright should be the starting 3B in the All Star game, Pedro Alvarez should be the backup.

No, really.

He is everyone's favorite player to hate.

"he strikes out too much"
"he wears his hat wrong"
"he makes too many errors"
"he's a bust"
"he doesn't try hard"

Some of those are actually made up.

Pedro Alvarez is first among NL Third Basemen in HR and RBI, 2nd in Slugging and OPS, and 5th in batting average.

And I feel, he is the Pirates MVP.

If it were up to me, Locke, Grilli, and Alvarez would be heading to NYC for the ASG.

Agreed, but lets not get too excited yet. Kdro has hit everything in sight for the last 2 weeks or so. He's so streaky, he could go hitless and strikeout 2 or 3 times a game for 2-3 weeks straight too any day now.

Pedro has batted .321 in June, and is roughly around .270 since the third week of April.

Nobody has or ever will mistake Pedro for a batting champion, but past assumptions still overshadow the season he is having.

Plenty of MVP's, All Star's and renowned hitters strike out, it happens. But few guys can carry on offense like Pedro can, and has been doing this season.

The Pirates do not have another power hitter in their lineup capable of what Alvarez can do, people need to stop expecting him to be Miguel Cabrera. Just take him for what he is......and that is, an All Star third basemen.

Speaking of numbers and impressive seasons.......

Starling Marte "on pace" for 45 Stolen Bases, 105 Runs scored, 16 Triples in his first full major league season.

He's hitting .287 at the leadoff spot, pretty good as far as leadoff hitters go.
