Mountain League Preview Week 2

Rivalry Game:
P-O @ BEA- One of Centre Countys' better rivalries on the block for week 2. BEA whitewashed another Cen. County rival Bellefonte 49-7 in the opener. With everything the Red Raiders have dealt with, that was kind of expected. The Mounties coming off a trainwreck 0-10 season where everyone(maybe even the mascot) was on the trainers table, opened with a 37-27 loss to a well respected Line Mountain program. These Mounties are well coached and appear to be headed in the right direction. The Eagles need to be on upset alert for this one. I'm cautiously giving the home team the nod here. BEA 20 P-O 18

Penns Valley @ Clearfield
The Rams reversed a bad loss in their opener with a good 21-16 win over Juniata. While the Bison were spanking a big Canadian school by 5 tds. The Rams very well could be a playoff team this year, but their trip to Clearfield won't help their cause,...
Clearfield 42 PV 7

Huntingdon@Bellefonte- The young depleted Raiders got waxed in their home opener as the 'Cats were dropping a heartbreaker in ot to a pretty good Mount Union squad 26-20. The Bearcats aren't happy, and the Red Raiders look like a victim.
Huntingdon 27 Bellefonte 13

Game of The Week- Central @ Tyrone
The Dragons are well stocked and breathing some fire after dispatching a pretty good Chestnut Ridge team 33-6 in the Cove last week. Tyrone took back the Brawl trophy in Bellwood 20-6. On paper Central appears to be a favorite, even @ Gray-Vets Field, buuuut....These groups of seniors tied in 9th grade. a wildcard may be the fact that Pannebaker,Williams,Reader,Sleeth,Getz,Hunter and Chronister were in 6-8 grades and not playing. Conventional wisdom says Central 24-14... but the Homer in me is going,
Tyrone 21 Central 20

I coach 7th grade football in Tyrone and will be at the game this Friday night. And I overheard at our game on Saturday that someone said that Central believes that they have the talent to go to states this year. I know Central has a lot comming back and has a pretty good team but I just wanted to get oppinions on if that's a semi-true statement or if that's just people thinking they are better than they really are and running their mouths. Any thoughts???

Don't get me wrong Central is good but I don't know if they're that good. They have great talent but they were prone to giving up points last year. I guess we will see on Friday just how good though.

Central does have a very solid team this year with a lot of experience returning. They should be able to play with anyone on the schedule. With that being said, anyone predicting a state final the second week into the season I wouldn't take to serious!
Should be a great game this week
good luck to both teams!
GO DRAGONS!!!!

I agree with Aliquippa 100%, they return nearly EVERYONE. And as far as D6 goes Richland returns almost everyone as well and they cruised through D6 last year and I expect they will be the favorites to repeat as D6 champs. Central and Tyrone have talent too. But as far as states goes. It's Aliquippa from the West, Richland would be my 2nd pick from the West but that's even a HUGE upset over the Quips

Tyrone has to be more physical to compete with teams like Richland this year. They have the speed to compete with them, all they have to do is find the physicality to match up in the playoffs

Very true, the talent is there but their O & D Lines need to mature and play smash-mouth football. That being said it is a looooooooong way until playoffs.
