I am the head coach of the Raiders in the Tyrone Youth Football League. We had a team forfeit in our league and now we have an open slot on Saturday 9/27. We are looking for a scrimmage/game on that day or that week. My team is made up of 16 kids and they are 5th, 6th, 7th graders. We have a 125 pound weight limit to run the ball and an UNLIMITED playing weight. I have two 7th grade lineman over 200 lbs on my team. We are willing to travel to play this game. I hope I am not offending anyone by putting this on here. I just didn't know how else to reach out to other districts in the area about possibly setting up a game for that week/weekend to fill that empty slot. Thanks

I hope you find what you're looking for. I do have a question though, 7th graders don't play Jr. High ball in Tyrone? I thought pretty much all the schools in the area are the same now but guess I was wrong. I know at Windber 7th and 8th grade make up the Jr,. High team with freshman now playing up at JV or Varsity. That's not the case at Tyrone?

Not sure I have seen anybody with 7th graders playing Pee Wee. Of the 3 areas I am familier with, 6th grade is the cut off.

When I played peewee in the Huntingdon County League you could play in 7th grade if you were still 12 before the end of the season.

In Tyrone. We have 2 leagues. Pee-Wee which is 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade tackle football. Youth which is 5th, 6th, and 7th grade tackle football. 7th graders in Tyrone have the option to move up to Jr. High and play on the 8th grade Jr. High team or stay down in youth football. Some 7th graders move up to Jr. High but 95% stay down and play one more year of Youth football. Most kids in 7th grade who move up early end up sitting on the bench and not playing nearly as much as they would in Youth. We scrimmaged a youth football team from Huntingdon this year that had 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. It all depends on how your league is drawn up. Bellwood's league is set up the same as ours (Grade level wise). Jr. High is mainly 8th and 9th grade. The only 9th graders that ever move up to high school are very exceptional athletes and have to be pulled up by the coaches request. Both of Coach John Franco's son's both played Jr. High in 9th grade and not HS.
