College Football Through 4 weeks

Just wanted to start a thread discussing some thoughts and observations through week 4:

List of teams north of South Carolina that could win 3 games in the SEC:

-Ohio State

For all the hype for the speed and athleticism in the south (or lack of it in the north) Pitt and Penn State may have the best 2 wideouts in the country.

I think Oregon is the best team in the country

Teams I honestly think have any realistic hope of winning the national title:

-Alabama
-Oregon
-Ohio State (only because how easy the path is to get there)
-LSU
-Stanford
-Clemson
-Florida State

Coaches that are holding their programs back:

-Frank Beamer
-Will Muschamp
-Mac Brown

Teams that may actually be really good:

-Northwestern
-Maryland
-Rutgers

My Conference winners:

Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ohio State

Biggest disappointments:

Texas, USC, WVU, TCU

Nice post, can't disagree with much there.

Oregon may be the best team in the country, but they always seem to lay 1 egg during conference play, and 1 loss might be enough to keep them out of the title game again. They can't afford a loss.

I still think that Alabama is the team to beat. Nobody has more talent from top to bottom, including coaching, than they do.

On Frank Beamer, I think he might be a little too old school to compete with some of the new trends in college football. His program and system are definitely falling behind. A Pitt win in Blacksburg would be a huge step for the Panthers.

I'd be interested to see where deliverance stands on Mac Brown. He has done so much good for that program, but you can't be mediocre at a school like Texas for very long before they give you the hook.

I would probably include Lane Kiffin as a coach that is holding their program back. He's just such a sleeze ball, and I just don't think anyone wants to play for a guy like him.

I wouldn't label WVU as a disappointment. They were picked 8th or 9th out of 10 in the league.

Id have to imagine preferred walk on with the scholarship limitations. No knock on Diehl but they have some receivers committed.

Preferred Walk On is the last I've heard.

They like him as a TE. No scholarship to offer.

There might not be a better place to play TE than PSU... He is 6'5" and has the frame to be 225-230 in a couple years.
