As reported vastly yesterday, it was released that Roger Goodell's salary with the NFL is just shy of $30 Million annually. I am not going to bash someone (nor do I ever) for making money. The amount of increased revenue he has produced for the NFL as a commissioner warrants a very nice salary. Here is where I do have a major issue with NFL:
-They are listed as a not-for-profit business and have massive tax breaks for this.
-They last year claimed to have operated at over a $300 million loss. (Mmmmmm...bullshit)
-Their charitable contributions last year to organizations not located in Canton, OH. Are you ready for this...$200,000.
-Their settlement with thousands of former players that have to hire caregivers to wipe the droll off their chin...less than $800,000,000.
This is a cut throat organization but there are many of these across our country. UPMC plays games yearly to keep their not-for-profit designations. Things they have done to "stay in the red" include spending millions to "rebrand" (they changed their logo) and putting flat screens at every bed location in some hospitals. Yet they continue to cut workers from many of their local hospitals. Maybe if the IRS targeted these type of tax advaders, I would give up 30% of my salaries and pay 6% sales tax on everything I buy.
