Anybody else out there excited about a possible Central/Richland AA championship showdown? I think that would be pretty sweet, especially since they met in football.

Yea, I've been thinking the same thing actually. Both teams have toss up games tonight but that would be a fun one to watch. You would wonder if the football game would transfer over though(how many of the kids play both). I know Central only has 3 that play both, with only Cunningham being a main contributor for both teams. For Richland, I know Shaffer and Flick play, but how many others?

Richland starts three Football players.
Matt Shaffer 6-2 PF leads the team with 13 points, 7 rebounds a game.
Kyle Flick 6-0 PG 12 points 5 rebounds 5 assists
Ryan Ball 6-4 C 8 points 5 rebounds.
Lushko and Miller are non football players that round out the lineup.
Richland basically gets all of their production from those 5. Johnny Kutchman, Linnie Joy, and Tanner Solarczyk basically round out their lineup, and all play football. Solarczyk and Joy were main contributors on gridiron. Joy has a little bit more offensive skill than Solarczyk, who basically comes in for defensive purposes.
Richland and Central could both very well lose, and that would at least set up a Consolation match.

I was at the Central/BEA game. I don't know if coach Nevins told the boys in the timeout not to pick up the basketball if BEA made a shot late, but that was a genius play by all 5 Central players. NONE of them went after the ball after BEA made it a one point game with under 6 seconds left. I know the BEA coach would disagree with me, but you have 5 seconds to inbound the ball AFTER you pick it up after a made shot and get out of bounds. The official starts counting once you step out of bounds, not after the ball goes thru the hoop.

Definitely a heady play by Cunningham to just let it lay.

This Central team is not one that I expected to be very good in the preseason. Coach Nevins has done a masterful job this year!

As long as Coach Nevins is running the team, Central will always be a contender. I played for Central in the mid 90's and we won a district championship in '95. He knows how to get the boys ready to play hard. I actually thought they would be a little better than what they were, but they had some injuries that plagued them early, but they are all healthy now. They need to be a little more consistent offensively, the last two games they scored 11 and 17 points in the first half. That won't cut it in a district championship game.
