Both teams are 3-2. 1:35 on Root.
They beat our ace last night, can we do it today?
Wainwright was lights out in his first start.

The Bucs will see a righty again today. They aren't scheduled to see a lefty til Thursday afternoon vs the Cubs. I think Hurdle will run Sanchez out there today or Tuesday. Maybe he has decent numbers against one of these guys.

Wainwright is a beast, this will be a catch up game for volquez. His best bet is to be conservative and throw smart technical pitches.

I would not be conservative with this cardinals lineup. You can't afford walks because nearly everyone can hurt you. Gotta be aggressive go right at them. It's not playing catch up if you can hold them off and not fall behind.

Volquez has been lights out, wow is all I can say. No earned runs. Playing smart defensive pitching.

Isn't it ironic that on the day Burnett got shelled by the Cubs, Volquez goes deep into the game only allowing a single run...

I will admit I was one of the guys that wanted nothing to do with Volquez but it's just one start so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I liked volquez on the mound today, I know it's his first start but still I was happy with his solidity. He was conservative, smart and defensive against a tough cardinal team. He wasn't throwing wild pitches and he most definitely wasn't throwing telegraphical straight on pitches every time like some people make him out to do. If he keeps this play up, they are set depth wise. Very good stuff today
