Just saw this on Twitter:

Congratulations to this young man, his family, coaches and BG. When was the last time BG sent a player D1?

I can't remember. What an accomplishment and is well deserved

McCloskey is also going to go D1. When was the last time BG sent two kids in the same class D1?

It has been a while since someone's gone D1 out of BG

I guess playing at a small doesn't hurt you chances on going D1. If you are good enough and your high school coaches work there butts off college coaches will find you. Great for the area too.

I could be wrong about this but the last D -1 player from BG was Eugene Adams who played QB at Rutgers. I believe he graduated in 1983. If there was someone between him and Chadbourn as a D-1 football player I don't know who it would have been. Quite an accomplishment for him, his family, his coaches, and his school. Good for him and as someone started earlier good for the area as well. To me, it's always great to see a local kid make good, no matter what school he plays at. Congratulations Brandon.

Do people forget saint Francis is D1? I feel as if there has been multiple BG players who went to play on the red storm team in the psst 5 years....

The Red Flash have had a very forgettable existence as a football program.

Congrats to the young man. Did he get a FULL scholarship? Would it have done him any good to wait for another offer (from a D-1A school)? Where is McCloskey going?

Everything I've heard indicates that it is a full ride. Going to a school with that academic/athletic reputation on a full ride is really an accomplishment. As far as St. Francis goes, I honestly didn't know they were Division 1 in football. As I stated in the earlier post I may have been wrong and apparently I was mistaken. I was thinking bigger D-1 schools.

D-Iaa schools only can give out 65 scholarships PER team. Many times they only give partial ATHLETIC scholarships to incoming freshman, and then they earn a full ride later on if they deserve them based on how they do on the playing field.
