PIAA D6 A Week 6 rankings

Post by konjo78 »

Well we are officially halfway through the season. depth of the district is showing... narrowing this down to a 9 team list as teams are now losing their chance at a playoff run.

1. Bishop Guilfoyle - A test this week in Forrest hills. Will really show how far ahead this team is or will they be brought down to earth.

2. Homer Center - Barely Surviving Purchase line they have a test against Blairsville. They suffered some injuries and will be having a tough task staying undefeated.

3. Blairsville - another strong showing this week. Looking to move up to #2 with a win over homer this week.

4. Portage - Surviving against a strong shade team is nothing to look down upon. Shade did show some weaknesses in the mustangs, also might of been a hang over game after the Berlin win.

5. Penns Manor - Their schedule will pick up soon but the defense is still boasting big numbers. They may be a sleeper to force a 3 way tie in the heritage, or even win it outright.

6. Bellwood Antis - a tough loss to Mount union moves the dynasty school down a spot. Still looking strong we are now seeing the top 6 teams are much stronger than the rest of the field.

7. Bishop Mccort - with all the teams being even this year BM might sneak their way into the playoffs. If they do they will have a chance to surprise us all.

8. Northern Cambria - Getting through the tough part of the schedule expect NC to work their ways up to a top 8 spot.

9. Purchase Line - also finishing the tougher part of their schedule PL will only face PM on this list. They could work their way up to a 5-5 or 6-4 record and a playoff berth.

Bishop McCort will lose the rest of their games peroid, this got to be the worst coached team in the area. Starting from the Head Coach which the game has pass bye. I watch McCort football for 20 years, This Head Coach is lucky McCort was able to win 2 games. Maybe someone can tell me why the QB on McCort team has to run to the coach for a play, when other teams are able to signal their plays by wrist band or other players. Maybe the Head Coach or Coaching Staff look lost when coaching these players, once McCort teams were able to play with other area teams, this year they look like they never been coached at all! I hope Jerry and all of his staff is one and done and next year McCort can have a Coaching Staff the will teach how to play winning football, inset of walking aroung with their hands in thier pockets.

I was going to say McCort is likely heading for a second straight 2-8 season. They have a lot of young guys involved, I think they will get better in the coming seasons. I wasn't expecting much more than 2-3 wins from this year.

I wouldn't rank them anywhere near the top 10 in single A.

I think that BC might be even worse coached than BM. I have to wonder if they practice tackling, both games I have seen were horrible examples of tackling. Sometimes people are good assistants and not head coaches.

1. BG - Best Team Ive seen in a long time
2. Portage - Good Team that will be there but not good enough to beat BG
3. Blairsville - Deon Robinson is a great back. He will take them as far as he can
4. Bellwood - Traditional Playoff team
5. Homer - Good team, but I think regressing on defense
6. Penns Manor - So far a great year for a very young team.
7. Purchase Line - Schedule gets alot easier. Only Penns Manor can threaten them. Playing Saltsburg twice!!!! enough said
8. Mo Valley - Better than most people think. QB is really a great player
9. Williamsburg - Team that is up and coming
10. Blacklick Valley - Dont count out Blacklick. They will be favored in every game, except Berlin.

Just to throw this out here about the QB. I remember watching Tyrone when John Franco was the coach, and even at Altoona, he only sends the play in with his QB. QB runs over to him after every play. History also shows that he has had a "little" bit of success doing it that way.

McCort program will take time to rebuild and for kids to come out again. Vince Lombardi would win 3 games as the McCort coach this year. Just the way it is, McCort is lucky to have a man of that experience to be the bridge to the next chapter of its football history.

Deepcreek, I disagree with you on that point, He may have been a good coach, now looks like man that is lost on the football field. Talking other people who watch McCort football are saying that this program is taking a major step backward! If I had son who wanted to play football, I would tell him "NOT TO GO MCCORT"! I watch McCort football team last year, and watched how the Head Coach did a bad job with a team that could have made the playoff by not playing players, but with Coach Davitch this program is turning into "Keystone Cops". Remeber his last's years at Conemaugh TWP, there teams were very bad.
