Week 10 D6 AA

Post by TAHS92Alum »

Oh ...here we are already week 10. Still a Cloudy playoff picture and hints that anyone can be beaten on a given night. Here are the short run downs for the week followed by the puzzle we call playoffs.

Mt Union(9-0) 1160 After a near loss to Tussey Mountain the Trojans return home to face the Rams of Penns Valley. This should be over early and all seniors will get to play in this one. They have the number one seed.

Tyrone (8-1) 1090 What more can you ask for than a big game to prep you for the playoffs. Should be a playoff atmospheres as they travel to 8-1 Chestnut Ridge. Take advantage of this one. The loser doesn't go home.

Juniata(8-1) 1030 Final week for the Indians before joining District 6. The Indians travel to 6-3 Williams Valley for perhaps one of their tougher games of the season.

Central (7-2) 960 The Dragons are holding their breath for the chance to make 2 teams visit the Cove for fireworks. Ligonier Valley makes that trip this week and I don't see the ride home being a happy one.

Penn Cambria(5-4) 540 We had a surprise showing last week against Somerset. It won't take that kind of effort again McCort. Panthers seal their playoff spot early in this one.

Forest Hills(5-4) 560 Look out for the stampede. The Don's will try but fail against Mr Montgomery. This one will be a Bedford Route.

Huntingdon(4-5) 500 Despite a season of ups and downs, the Bearcats appear to be heading to the post season. Neighbor Juniata Valley would like nothing more than to prevent that. In the end its just to much Wagner as Huntingdon secures a spot.

Southern Huntingdon (4-5) 450 Another Huntingdon County team looking to get in on the post season action. This isn't wrestling season so they should have any trouble with Claysburg.

Central Cambria(4-5) 430 This is a sacraficial lamb in Westy. The Red Devils need a win, and some help. Seymore will do his part

Richland (3-6) After a mass exit of seniors in 2013, we knew there would be a slide for the Rams. Most didn't think it would be this far. The 2014 edition will need ALOT of help to get into the post season

Seeding for D6 AA
Mt Union (10-0) 1340
Tyrone (9-1) 1310 or 1130 and possible 2,3, or 4 seed
Juniata(9-1) 1190 or 1050 and possible 2,3,or 4
Central(8-2) 1140 and possible 2,3,or 4
Penn Cambria(6-4) 700
Huntingdon (5-5) 600
Forest Hills (5-5) 580 or 760 and possible 5 or 7 seed
S.Huntingdon(5-5) 550

Now for the puzzle.

Let's start in the LHAC
Forest Hills has a 24-0 win over currently higher seed Penn Cambria. There is no out of conference games so how strong are these teams?

Juniata in it's only game against a D6 team struggled and barely pulled out a win against Penns Valley. Who has lost to it's MAC playoff opponents in Tyrone, Central, and Huntingdon

Finally we combine the MAC with the ICC to make the outcomes really clear.

Mt Union destroyed Southern Huntingdon and needed a last minute TD to down Tussey 44-41. Central beat Tussey 34-12,Central lost to Tyrone 20-13, and beat Clearfield 35-28, who beat Tyrone 26-14. Mt Union over Bellwood 21-7 and Tyrone took the Backyard Brawl 18-14. Mt Union,Central and Tyrone all won big over Huntingdon. That makes it easy to pick a winner right?

No puzzle in Sidman. They got hosed in Johnstown, losing their best runner to a bogus call, ejection, and subsequent MIA the following week, and blowing a big lead, and their Qb is just getting back to near 100%. Yes, they may lose this week, but don't overlook this team week 11. They weren't supposed to win either of the first 2 rounds last year either.
It ain't over until it's over.

I think a lot of people expected Forest Hills to win in the first round last year and lose in the second round, and that's what happened. Pending on who they get matched up with, that can happened again.
