I just had to throw that out there. None of the tournaments now grab my attention like that did. The ACC is terrific ball but I just miss that Big East tournament field with Pitt, UConn, Syracuse, WVU, Georgetown, and Louisville.

I went to the tournament 5 different years, it was amazing to be there as a fan.

One of the PG writers tweeted out yesterday "We killed the Big East so we can watch Syracuse vs Wake Forest?"

I thought that said it all. I miss Big East basketball. I dont miss Big East football and that is ultimately what drives these decisions. Football rules all..

I miss the Atlantic 8 tournament.

The Civic Arena. Pitt, West Virginia and Duquesne always seemed to make the Final Four.

Then, of course, Pitt joined the Big East and let Jackie Sherrill walk away to Texas A&M a few months later. Now itt is an also ran in a southern conference losing to Atlantic 8 also rans in the NIT

I miss the Eastern 8 conference tournament. Then, of course, Penn State left that league after the 1979 season and went on to play for 3 years as an independent. Who's idea was that? Then they came back to the Atlantic 10 in 1982 begging to be let into THAT league. Now they're in a Midwest conference losing to former Eastern 8 also-rans like Rutgers, and barely beating Duquesne, like they did this year by 2 points at home.
