I voted for Hedrick. He's done a great job with his team this year. Beating Tussey at the dome deserves some credit, it's his first playoff appearance as head coach, and he really motivates his kids to the best of their ability.

Lots of talent in this field, but . . . my vote goes to Coach Hendershot who brings a wealth of knowledge, great skills in teaching, fantastic assistant coach in Dave Gordon, a program that builds teamwork in the off-season, and most importantly, a positive attitude that leads young men to develop a winning perspective on life.

High school basketball games will be won and lost, X's and O's can be argued until the cows come home. Coach Hendershot sees the bigger picture and helps his boys become successful men and that why he is deserving of the title of Coach of the Year. :!:

My pick for Coach of the Year would be Denny Pollock. In my opinion he has done a terrific job turning that program into a winning program the past few years. They are no longer taken for granted by the teams that they play. The kids have bought into his philosophy and it's paid off.

My vote is Brad Criswell from CR. No one expected them to content for the SHL title and they came very close to winning it. Also they host Windber tonight in the AA playoffs. Their record isn't that impressive but better than most expected and have won some big games and could win another big one tonight!

The girls coach of the year would have to go to JT Black from CR. Got the lady lions to double digit wins and the first playoff appearance since 1988.

Both squads will return most of their key players and should factor in both the SHL and 5AA playoffs next season.

Randy Meck. Took a 2 and 20(?) Forbes Road team from last year and put them in the playoffs.

Randy Meck is my vote. He took a Forbes team that went 2-22 year to making playoffs. With a team that was thought to have no heart at all. So he is my pick

But the other coaches everyone mentioned to did a fantastic job coaching their team.

For some reason..I was thinking Criswell also, but was going to wait to see how playoff game went first. If Ridge wins, he's definitely my choice.

I VOTED FOR MECK BECAUSE OF THE BIG TURNAROUND FROM LAST YEAR, BUT ALSO BECAUSE HE DID THE JOB WITH CLASS. THAT TO ME IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. WINNING WITH CLASS.
