WEEK 4
Last Week: 5-1 Season: 10-2
Very satisfied with last weeks picks except Claysburg’s run ending at Juniata Valley where they just did not look like the same team that appeared poised to make an ICC Silver Division run in Weeks 1 and 2.
Team on the rise appears to be Southern Huntingdon who was tied with Mt. Union deep into the 4th quarter and definitely had them on the ropes. Team I’m starting to doubt, Bellwood-Antis. They just seem to be missing something that has always separated them from other good teams that doesn’t appear to be there in 2015.
This Weeks Picks:
Bellwood (1-2) at Juniata Valley (1-2) – This game has the potential to become interesting the longer JV can hang in the game and gather confidence, and see Bellwood lose confidence. I’m still going to stick to my guns and hang my hat on the Blue Devil staff having them focused and ready to play and turn the ship around for good. Bellwood 34 Juniata Valley 12
Northern Bedford (3-0) at Claysburg (2-1) – The storyline here undoubtedly is Claysburg Coach Dan Foor facing his former squad, Northern Bedford, that he left prior to the 2008 season. Expect CK to be very well prepared and fired up at home. Will it be enough? Will Quentin Burket be able to put up 150+ on the Panther “D” giving them a chance? Maybe for a half, similar to the Everett-NBC game last week, but at some point NBC will wake up and win going away. NBC 30 Claysburg 8
West Branch (1-2) at Glendale (0-3) – West Branch has played better thus far and we expect that continue. Glendale, well…..you can’t make potato salad without potatoes and Glendale just doesn’t have the talent to compete right now. West Branch’s passing game should have a field day against the overmatched Viking DB’s. West Branch 42 Glendale 14
Williamsburg (1-2) at Everett (1-2) – The Blue Pirates got in the win column last week but it wasn’t exactly a blowout on their home turf vs the weakest team in the ICC. Everett turned in a Jekyll/Hyde performance last week vs Northern Bedford. Which team shows up this week? If it’s the wrong side this game could get sticky and come down to a big play or turnover late. No word here whether Everett’s Steven Shaffer (injured last week) is a “go” or not this week either. Everett in a close one 20-14.
GAME OF THE WEEK
Mo Valley (3-0) at Mount Union (2-1) – This has the makings of a dandy. Do everything QB Eric Sherkel makes the Black Knights certainly capable of ringing up some points and Mount Union, while looking solid so far, has not looked anything nearly like the explosive squad of a year ago. Mo Valley outscores the Trojans on their home turf. Mo Valley 42 Mount Union 30.
As a bonus this week….if you’re looking to get a bite after the game there are some good choices. The Main Street Café is a “must” when visiting Juniata Valley. Claysburg Pizza is the “hot spot” to visit after a game in the Dawg Pound. If you’re at Mount Union look no farther than the Concession stand in the Stadium, it’s the #1 concession stand in the ICC! Everett and Glendale are a little tougher picks. Unless Sir Barney’s stays open or you can handle the smoke in the Rainbow….errr….Rockbox (yuk hate that new name), your better off traveling to nearby Altoona or Breezewood when you visit those venues.

Southern Huntingdon should finish at 6-4 or maybe even 7-3 this year and be one of the 8 teams to make the playoffs in AA. They have a nice little squad.
Looking forward to the Mo Valley/MU game. This is the equivalent of the Bellwood game for us last year for them. They win this and they probably run the table for an unbeaten regular season. Our team reminds me a lot of our 2013 squad. They have some good young talent and they continue to improve every week. I expected to win anywhere from 6-8 games this year and we appear to be right on track. If we can limit the big plays, I feel very good about our chances to win this Friday.
