Guru on Luck

Luck is what you make of it.  When someone tells me "good luck", I think to myself...what do they mean? There is no such thing as luck.  You have to be an opportunist and take advantage of all situations, even turn them in your favor if at first they look bleak.  You have to be an optimist.  My glass has been and will always be, at least half full.  You have to believe you will succeed.  It is a mental state, in my mind.  You have to be intuitive.  If it feels right, run with it.  Last but not least, you have to show resilience.  If at first you don't succeed... I mean come on... I can't get it right every time but that sure isn't going to stop me from trying.

Believe you will succeed and then make it happen and oh by the way... Good luck!

You're overthinking it! "Good luck" has just become the go to phrasing, mainly because "good skill" is kind of clunky!!!! It's just another way of saying "go get 'em"

Hmmm...  so should we assume that luck should not be confused with good fortune?   If someone is born into a wealthy family are they lucky, or fortunate?  Would everyone else then be considered less fortunate?
Is someone who is born with an abundance of athletic skills, lucky? Does anyone even care?
