ICC Week 1

Another season on the horizon in the ICC. This looks like a very competitive season in the league. They’ve abandoned their divisional alignment and will crown one champion over the course of the season.
Bellwood at Tyrone – Perhaps the hottest rivalry in the region renews at Tyrone. Bellwood will be scrappy, prepared, and keep it close but in the end…..Tyrone 20 Bellwood 15
Chestnut Ridge at Everett – An interesting all Bedford County opener between two of District 5’s four AA squads. Ridge has more starters returning, more depth, more experience….just a little better in all facets adds up to a solid Lion win. CR 34 Everett 8
Claysburg at Southern Huntingdon – These teams ended the regular season last year with a tight 17-14 game won by the Rockets. It appears from this vantage point the Claysburg has a better chance to be improved than Southern, who lost the Carowicks. Reverse this result in another tight one. Claysburg 18 Southern 14
Huntingdon at Mount Union– This should be a very competitive rivalry game. Mount Union returns a nice nucleus and it will be interesting to see if there are any growing pains from the coaching changes there. Huntingdon had a winning record last year and an unbeaten JV squad. When in doubt, go with the known…Huntingdon 26 Mount Union 20
Glendale at Williamsburg –This could be a very interesting opener and propel one of these two teams to a .500 or above season. They both return lots of starters on both sides of the ball. Williamsburg has enjoyed more success than Glendale the past two years but in a minor upset, Glendale 15 Williamsburg 14 in what should be a fun small school game to watch.
Tussey Mountain at Juniata Valley - JV is a team back on the rise and welcomes an undefeated group of JH players to the SOPH class who should contribute to their continued resurgence this year. Tussey is always well coached and will play tough but there is just a bit of a downturn cycle going on in terms of athletes and depth in their program right now. JV 28 TM 14
West Branch at Philipsburg – Look for West Branch to continue their rebounding ways this year as they return 1,000+ rusher Creighton Coble. PO has nice size but will still struggle at the skill positions. WB 20 PO 6
Mo Valley at Northern Bedford - Northern Bedford returns a bunch of starters and features a lot of explosiveness at the skill positions. Mo Valley loses their stud player while returning a fair amount of starters. NB caught fire late last season and expect it to continue. NBC 40 Mo Valley 8
